    Les causes de vertige, défini comme une illusion de mouvement, peuvent être graves : syndrome de Wallenberg, dissection de l’artère vertébrale, tumeur de la fosse postérieure et toutes sortes de diagnostics à ne pas manquer. Comment savoir s’il manque 50 cellules ciliées dans telle macule otolithique ou telle cupule de canal semi-circulaire. Ou encore comment savoir ce qui se passe dans des réseaux de neurones comme celui du stockage de vitesse. Les bilans otoneurologiques classiques restent très souvent normaux, et le patient arrive avec une IRM normale à la main. Tout repose alors sur le bilan fonctionnel. L’électronique a progressé dans ce domaine. On mesure les gains canal par canal (VHIT). On reproduit chaque syncrétisme statique ou cinétique (masques de réalité virtuelle (RV)). La kinésithérapie à mains nues conserve toute sa valeur, tout comme les rééducations par acuité visuelle dynamique (AVD), réalisées par les kinésithérapeutes et les orthoptistes, qui permettent de proposer des protocoles précisément adaptés à chaque cas particulier. Cette nouvelle édition, encore plus pratique, tout en couleurs et richement illustrée, intègre un nouveau classement des pathologies ainsi que des cas cliniques commentés.
