La obra tiene un enfoque eminentemente práctico, basado en el análisis estructural de las palabras, y todos los capítulos contienen ejercicios cuyas soluciones se encuentran al final del libro, de modo que el estudiante puede comprobar los resultados y aclarar dudas por sí mismo en cualquier momento. El manual contiene, además, un glosario de raíces y afijos grecolatinos ordenados alfabéticamente según su pronunciación en español y, para complementar el estudio, la bibliografía incluye tanto libros de texto como diccionarios y sitios de Internet. El Dr. Francisco Vélez García es médico cirujano egresado de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) y especialista en Cirugía General egresado del Centro Médico Nacional del Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (IMSS), en la ciudad de México. Es especialista en docencia por la Facultad de Pedagogía e Innovación Educativa de la Universidad Autónoma de Baja California. Como docente de la Facultad de Medicina Mexicali de la Universidad Autónoma de Baja California (UABC) se desempeñó como profesor de Clinica de Gastroenterología, de Propedeútica Médica y de Terminología de la Salud. El Dr. Hiram Infante Sierra es médico egresado de la Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas, México, y especialista en Cirugía General egresado del Centro Médico Nacional del Noreste del Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (IMSS), en la ciudad de Monterrey, Nuevo León. Es profesor titular de la Cátedra de Anatomía General y de la Cátedra de Terminología de la Salud, y profesor adjunto de la Clínica de Patología Quirúrgica de la Facultad de Medicina Mexicali, Universidad Autónoma de Baja California.
