Each Theme Issue provides a comprehensive and critical examination of current and emerging research on the design and development of advanced drug and gene delivery systems and their application to experimental and clinical therapeutics. Publication requirementsWestern Blots. Manuscripts reporting Western Blots must include original uncropped traces in triplicate as Supplementary Material. For review article submissions, Authors are required to provide evidence of their expertise and research experience in the specific field. Contributions reporting the following are NOT considered for publication: Activity data on crude extracts that have not been characterized by qualitative (and preferably quantitative) analysis of their individual constituents (LC/MS, or isolation followed by NMR). Data on the extract composition simply taken from literature or from previous studies are not acceptable. Characterization of only a few constituents is generally considered too partial. Studies on the bioactivity of pure compounds purchased or obtained by Authors without any study or relationship with the producing organism. Unexceptional and predictable bioactivity (e.g. antioxidant and mild antimicrobial properties of phenolics or of essential oils). Uncritical ethnopharmacological investigations, where a list of plants and their use are simply recorded. RULE 3: The botanical source is not clearly identified (with scientific Latin names), authenticated, and documented (voucher).     An International Multi-Disciplinary Journal. The major focus of Behaviour Research and Therapy is an experimental psychopathology approach to understanding emotional and behavioral disorders and their prevention and treatment, using cognitive, behavioral, and psychophysiological (including neural) methods and models. This includes laboratory-based experimental studies with healthy, at risk and subclinical individuals that inform clinical application as well as studies with clinically severe samples. We are therefore restricting the scope of our journal to those that are more public health-focused, are more cross-disciplinary, and do not have an engineering or laboratory basis.We will no longer consider manuscripts that relate to collisions or crash severity that have little or no health focusWe will continue to consider manuscripts that focus on:road travel injuries, both fatal and non-fatal, and their long-term health consequences; andsocial and environmental determinants of road travel injury and health outcomes (acute and/or chronic).In general, we will not consider manuscripts where numbers are used rather than rates when exploring associations with danger or safety, whether as a cross-sectional association or in longitudinal studies examining change. The fact that more people are injured where, or when, more people travel is not very enlightening.In countries without suitable travel-related denominator data (distances travelled, time spent travelling, or number of trips), population-based denominators will be accepted. For example, when describing the proportion of casualties by age or by travel mode, it is important to compare those with the proportions in the general population.We require all authors to avoid the word 'accident' except where it is in the reference of a document they are citing. Although it means 'unintentional', it is often interpreted as meaning 'unavoidable'. More importantly, 'accident' is sometimes used to refer to the event (crash/collision/fal... and sometimes to the consequence (casualty/injury/fat... It is not always clear which is meant. Progress in Lipid Research fulfils this role.Each volume contains up-to-date surveys of special aspects of lipid research. The invited reviews are comprehensive enough to provide sufficient overview but concentrate on reporting and critically appraising the most recent data. Subjects are chosen for their timeliness or because major developments have taken place in the last few years. They include methodological reviews as well as chemical, biochemical and medical articles. All lipid compounds and derivatives are covered, ranging from fatty acids and other simple molecules, through steroids, terpenoids and phospho- or glycolipids to complex structures such as lipoproteins and biological membranes. Reports should include a full description of the study design, patient population, methodology and conduct, and statistical plan.Immunobiology and Immunotherapy encompass a wide spectrum of research, but Blood can accommodate only papers that have clear and important implications for hematology. Preference is given to papers focusing on human immunobiology, immunotherapy, and immune pharmacology approaches in the human setting and those with significant implications for understanding of normal or malignant hematologic processes. Papers on tumor immunology, tumor vaccines and cancer immunotherapy development may be appropriate if the target cells or antigens are relevant to hematologic malignancies, but generally Blood cannot accommodate tumor immunology papers focusing solely on non-hematologic tumor types.Papers investigating autoimmunity and utilizing non-hematologic models are not within the scope of Blood.Vascular biology papers that focus primarily on atherosclerosis are outside the scope of Blood and instead should be considered for alternative journals.Papers felt to be outside the scope of Blood will be returned to the author without full peer review.
