  • Journal of Environmental Economics and Management

    • ISSN: 0095-0696
The Journal of Environmental Economics and Management (JEEM) publishes theoretical and empirical papers addressing economic questions related to natural resources and the environment. To warrant publication in JEEM, papers must include carefully identified empirical findings, insightful theoretical analyses, or creative methodologies that are both novel and of broad interest to its readership. We recognize the boundaries of environmental and resource economics are subjective and evolving, but topics of interest include:Environmenta... policy design and instrument choice;Nonmarket valuation methods and their application to new, policy-relevant settings;Environment... behavior of firms, government officials and agencies, nonprofit organizations, households, or individuals;Renewabl... and non-renewable resource management and policy such as the economics of fisheries, forestry and fossil fuels;Climate change;Topics at the intersection of environmental and resource economics and development economics, energy economics, industrial organization, urban economics, transport economics, health economics, or agricultural economics. We also welcome interdisciplinary work from diverse teams of researchers as long as the paper's primary contribution focuses on economic questions. We do not publish book reviews, literature reviews, or policy briefs, and we rarely publish papers that replicate previously identified empirical relationships or apply established methods to new case studies. We also do not publish theoretical analyses that merely extend results from well-known models. In our review process, we pre-screen all papers and desk reject some. Papers that are desk rejected typically are considered poor topical or methodological fits or significantly below JEEM's quality standards.Papers that are rejected by JEEM will not be reconsidered for publication unless the editor in his or her decision letter makes this possibility explicit.
  • Resource and Energy Economics

    • ISSN: 0928-7655
Resource and Energy Economics publishes theoretical and empirical papers, firmly grounded in economic theory, that advance our understanding of and provide novel insights into environmental and natural resource problems and policies broadly defined, as well as analyses of energy use and markets that link resource and environmental issues to energy.Contributions may address any problem involving economic and environmental linkages, including, but not limited to, utilization, conservation and development of the earth's natural resources (renewable and non-renewable, including critical materials); climate change mitigation and adaptation; innovation and the energy transition; pathways to sustainable growth and development; international trade and global environmental problems; non-market valuation methodology and novel applications of valuation techniques; experimental or behavioural economics pertaining to environmental and natural resources; the choice and impact of environmental policy instruments; and economic choices and/or behaviour related to energy and the environment. Also of interest are energy-related papers addressing regional or global pollution as well as the relationships between renewable and non-renewable energy sources and markets.Resource and Energy Economics is an economics journal. Hence, economic analysis is central to all papers that we publish. We are most interested in research that advances the theoretical and/or empirical understanding of natural resource and environmental economics. We do not publish studies that are limited to engineering or cost analyses, empirical analyses that document relationships between variables without identifying the theory or underlying mechanism(s) giving rise to these relationships, or localized studies without broader relevance. Papers limited to the study of prices, markets or finance are not within the scope of the journal unless the topic is linked to natural resource and environmental issues (such as energy efficiency, consumption, externalities, renewables, environmental policy, resource extraction, climate, instrument choice, welfare change, etc.). Papers that are determined by the editors to not be a good fit with the above aims and scope or are deemed to not meet the scientific standards of the journal will be returned without review.

  • Learning and Individual Differences

    • ISSN: 1041-6080
Journal of Psychology and EducationLearning and Individual Differences is a research journal devoted to publishing articles of individual differences as they relate to learning within an educational context. The Journal focuses on original empirical studies of high theoretical and methodological rigor that make a substantial scientific contribution and advance our knowledge on individual differences as they relate to cognitive and/or non-cognitive features across diverse learning contexts. The Journal receives submissions from different fields such as psychology, educational sciences, and the learning sciences and welcomes interdisciplinary research.Learning and Individual Differences publishes original research. There are three types of original articles: Full length articles, brief reports, and multistudy reports. Full length articles should be no longer than 8000 words of primary text (not including abstract, educational relevance and implications statement, tables, figures, references, and other materials). Brief reports should be no longer than 4000 words of primary text (not including abstract, educational relevance and implications statement, tables, figures, references, and other materials). Multistudy reports should be no longer than 12000 words of primary text (not including abstract, educational relevance and implications statement, tables, figures, references, and other materials). Systematic reviews with or without meta-analysis should be no longer than 15000 words of primary text (not including abstract, educational relevance and implications statement, tables, figures, references, and other materials). The core criteria for whether a manuscript is published are its scientific rigor and the new knowledge that it adds to the existing body of knowledge. To this end, we are particularly looking for manuscripts that report on longitudinal data analyses, include data on diverse (in the best case representative) or underrepresented populations, and combine several sources of information such as self-report and objective performance data. Inclusion of power calculations where appropriate is considered an advantage. Manuscripts that don't meet these criteria such as studies that are cross-sectional (in particular when they report mediation analyses), stem from highly specific samples, and include only self-reports need to make a strong case on why they advance our knowledge to a sufficient level for inclusion in the Journal and have a higher likelihood of not being considered for publication in Learning and Individual Differences.
  • Computers & Industrial Engineering

    • ISSN: 0360-8352
Industrial engineering is one of the earliest fields to utilize computers in research, education, and practice. Over the years, computers and electronic communication have become an integral part of industrial engineering. Computers & Industrial Engineering (CAIE) is aimed at an audience of researchers, educators and practitioners of industrial engineering and associated fields. It publishes original contributions on the development of new computerized methodologies for solving industrial engineering problems, as well as the applications of those methodologies to problems of interest in the broad industrial engineering and associated communities. The journal encourages submissions that expand the frontiers of the fundamental theories and concepts underlying industrial engineering techniques.CAIE also serves as a venue for articles evaluating the state-of-the-art of computer applications in various industrial engineering and related topics, and research in the utilization of computers in industrial engineering education. Papers reporting on applications of industrial engineering techniques to real life problems are welcome, as long as they satisfy the criteria of originality in the choice of the problem and the tools utilized to solve it, generality of the approach for applicability to other problems, and significance of the results produced.A major aim of the journal is to foster international exchange of ideas and experiences among scholars and practitioners with shared interests all over the world.
  • Learning, Culture and Social Interaction

    • ISSN: 2210-6561
Affiliated with European Association for Research on Learning and Instruction (EARLI)Much of the most important learning happens through social interaction. Learning, Culture and Social Interaction is an international journal devoted to the publication of high-quality research on learning within, and through, social practices. Its particular focus is on understanding how learning and development are embedded in social and cultural activities, and how individuals and collective practices are transformed through learning.Such understanding requires a careful analysis of learning in social context, and of the communicative processes involved. In-depth studies of interaction in schools (in various subjects and settings), universities, work-places, voluntary organizations, public agencies, hospitals, laboratories and other institutional settings will be welcome, as well as studies of informal settings such as everyday conversations, play settings, youth clubs, games and other cultural practices. Longitudinal studies of learning trajectories are relevant as are analyses of contexts and interactional patterns that hinder learning. The important point is that the relationships between cultures, social interaction and learners (and teachers) are in focus. The term 'interaction' includes forms of communication which take place through technologies of various kinds (telephone, the Internet, presentation technologies and so on). Interaction between people and artefacts, insofar as they address learning, are also relevant. Thus, the focus is not exclusively on face-to-face interaction. Also, issues of collective forms of learning characterizing systematic change, institutional development and communities of practice are central for the journal. The journal is multidisciplinary and invites scholars from relevant disciplines including psychology, anthropology, linguistics, sociology, communication studies and all areas of educational research. Data may come from ethnographies, experimental approaches, intervention studies, case studies, interviews, questionnaires, self-reports, cross-cultural comparisons, archives etc. Articles of different kinds will be welcome: reports of empirical research, theoretically orientated analyses, contributions to method, literature reviews, meta-analyses of research etc. There will be no restrictions when it comes to age levels or social settings. A strong expectation will be that authors write clearly and accessibly for an international and multidisciplinary audience. Please, should you have any queries, contact the journal directly.

Official Journal of the European Association of Psychosomatic Medicine and affiliated with the International College of Psychosomatic MedicineThe Journal of Psychosomatic Research is a multidisciplinary research journal covering all aspects of the relationships between psychology and medicine. The scope is broad and ranges from basic human biological and psychological research to evaluations of treatment and services. Papers will normally be concerned with illness or patients rather than studies of healthy populations. Studies concerning special populations, such as the elderly and children and adolescents, are welcome. In addition to peer-reviewed original papers, the journal publishes editorials, reviews, and other papers related to the journal's aims.
  • Journal of Behavior Therapy and Experimental Psychiatry

    • ISSN: 0005-7916
A Journal of Experimental PsychopathologyThe Journal welcomes contributions to the understanding and treatment of psychopathology. Such contributions may stem from various theoretical perspectives. The Journal primarily focuses on (quasi)experimental tests of psychological approaches to psychopathology, though contributions from medicine, biology, sociology, or epidemiology may be considered. The same holds for non-experimental approaches (e.g., prospective approaches), which may occasionally be published if deemed relevant for the field of experimental psychopathology. Papers to be published generally focus on:Theoretically or clinically relevant differences between specific patient groups and other groups, if experimentally tested;(Transdiagnos... mechanisms that cause, perpetuate or reduce disorders;Diagnostic or therapeutic proceduresParticipan... in the studies may be patients, healthy subjects, or animals, depending on the relevance of the subject characteristics for the question to be answered. We encourage the investigation of transdiagnostic constructs. Relatedly, we strongly encourage studies testing hypotheses on characteristics of a disorder to not only include a non-patient control group, but also at least one appropriate clinical control group, to assess the specificity of the effect. We cannot guarantee acceptance of studies missing an appropriate clinical control group.Pre-registrati... of all studies is strongly encouraged and justification of statistical power required. We ask authors who submit studies that were not pre-registered to provide a motivated justification in their cover letter. Clinical trials (RCTs and others) should be registered in an official trial register and the registration number should be reported. These studies should include a flow diagram according to the most recent CONSORT guidelines and a CONSORT checklist should accompany the submission. See http://www.consort-s... for the guidelines and forms. Any changes in the submitted study as compared to the pre-registered study (e.g., intended sample size, primary and secondary outcome variables, method) should be stated explicitly in the manuscript.Case studies, open trials, and pilot studies may be considered for publication in the Journal if they are unusually innovative Consecutive case series with appropriate designs (i.e., contrasting at least two conditions; e.g. multiple baseline design) and appropriate statistical analyses are considered for publication.Theoreti... contributions on topics relevant to the field of experimental psychopathology are also considered as well as systematic reviews and meta-analyses, given that they meet the appropriate guidelines for reporting. Replications are essential in science and are, to the present editors' opinion, often undervalued. Short reports of attempts to replicate experimental studies, whether successful or failed, and whether applied or fundamental, are considered for publication, if appropriately powered. The maximum number of words is 2500 for these reports. All submissions will first be screened on the degree to which they match the Aims and Scope of the Journal.
  • Body Image

    • ISSN: 1740-1445
Body Image is an international, peer-reviewed journal that publishes high-quality, scientific articles on body image and human physical appearance. Body image represents a person's "inside view" of their body-that is, their feelings, perceptions, thoughts, and beliefs about their body that impact how they behave toward it (Cash, 2004). While physical appearance is an important aspect of body image, it is not the only aspect, as embodiment (how a person uses their body to engage with the world) and focusing on (and appreciating) body functionality are additional aspects of body image. We invite contributions from a broad range of disciplines - psychological science, other social and behavioral sciences, and medical and health sciences. We have a weight-inclusive focus rather than a weight-normative or weight-centric focus (see here for an explanation).Body Image publishes a variety of article types, including original research articles, brief research reports, theoretical and review papers (systematic reviews and meta-analyses), scale development and adaptation articles, replication studies, protocol articles, methodological innovations that could be used to advance body image research, unexpected/null results articles, and ideas worth researching. We encourage articles that center minoritized populations. Consistent with the Open Science initiative, we publish articles based on a strong theoretical rationale and scientific design rather than whether findings are statistically significant. We also encourage review-based and empirical-based special issues, especially those that bridge subfields and disciplines.Suitable topics for submission of manuscripts include (but are not limited to):The effects of body image and physical characteristics (e.g., body size, attractiveness, physical disfigurements or disorders) on psychological functioning, interpersonal processes, and quality of life;Body image and physical appearance in the full range of medical and allied health contexts;Body image in diverse cultural contexts;Development... validation, and adaptation (e.g., translation) of assessments of the body image construct;Factors that influence positive and negative body image development;Stigmati... and discrimination based on appearance and/or body function;Adaptive and maladaptive body image processes and their clinically relevant consequences on psychosocial functioning and quality of life;Relationship of body image to behavioral variables (e.g., exercise and other physical activity, eating and weight-control behaviors, grooming and appearance-modifying behaviors, and social behaviors); How body image may shape the ways we engage our bodies with the world (i.e., embodiment);Scientif... evaluation of interventions to promote positive body image or to prevent or treat body image difficulties and disorders.Impartiali... statement regarding citations. We, the editorial team, strongly encourage authors to cite the highest quality work believed to be most relevant to their article; we are impartial to the use of citations from Body Image versus other journals. We review and accept articles based on their scientific rationale, merits, design, analysis, and interpretation rather than the source of their citations.Note regarding string citations. We encourage authors to avoid excessive string citations, whereby multiple citations support a single statement, finding, or proposition, when such citations would be superfluous. In many cases, one citation will suffice, and this citation should be the best supporting reference for that statement, finding, or proposition. All important previous work can be included, and if a cite is important, there often will be additional text that accompanies it. Please note that we are okay with the overall number of references.Of note, the recommendation to avoid string citations does not apply to:Statements that include more than one finding. For example, "Over the past 10 years, researchers in a number of countries have begun to explore the relationship between positive body image and psychological well-being" needs multiple citations because authors are referring to researchers and countries (both plural. However, reference to all work that has explored this relationship is probably not needed. As another example, "research shows that body dissatisfaction is correlated with disordered eating, anxiety, and depression" may include multiple citations, with different citations supporting different aspects of this statement.Systematic reviews and meta-analyses whereby the citations are linked to relevant themes/data that are included in the analysis. The presence of string citations alone is not a reason to reject an article. If submitted articles contain string citations, the editorial team will simply note this, and it will be up to the author to decide whether to retain or remove citations if asked to revise and resubmit their article. The journal gives an annual award for the best doctoral dissertation in this field.
  • Mental Health and Physical Activity

    • ISSN: 1755-2966
Mental Health and Physical Activity is an international forum for scholarly reports on any aspect of relevance to advancing our understanding of the relationship between mental health and physical activity. We prioritize studies involving clinical populations, especially those with clearly stated and immediate treatment implications. Please note that papers which focus exclusively on mental health, or exclusively on physical activity, will not be considered. Manuscripts will be considered for publication which deal with high quality research, comprehensive research reviews, and critical reflection of applied or research issues. The journal is open to the use of diverse methodological approaches. Reports of practice will need to demonstrate academic rigour, preferably through analysis of programme effectiveness, and go beyond mere description. The aims of Mental Health and Physical Activity are:To foster the inter-disciplinary development and understanding of the mental health and physical activity field; To develop research designs and methods to advance our understanding; To promote the publication of high quality research on the effects of physical activity (interventions and a single session) on a wide range of dimensions of mental health and psychological well-being (e.g., depression, anxiety and stress responses, mood, cognitive functioning and neurological disorders, such as dementia, self-esteem and related constructs, psychological aspects of quality of life among people with physical and mental illness, sleep, addictive disorders), from both efficacy and effectiveness trials; To promote high quality research on the biophysical and psychosocial mechanisms involved to help our understanding of the link between physical activity and mental health, and guide intervention development; To provide an evidence-based source for professionals working in the field of mental health and a forum to consider service delivery issues.Notice to Authors Wishing to Submit to MENPA Mental Health and Physical Activity (MENPA) is becoming increasingly competitive. We continue to receive many more manuscripts than we can possibly publish. Therefore, in order to reduce any delay in publishing the best science, the following guidelines should be considered prior to submitting a manuscript, in addition to guidance from EQUATOR (https://www.equator... types of studies given the highest priority are the following:Etiologic or experimental studies testing a specific hypothesis or highlighting a specific mechanism relating physical activity or inactivity to mental health.Prospective or longitudinal studies.Randomised controlled trials, or related protocol papers which follow CONSORT guidelines. All submitted manuscripts reporting data from randomized controlled trials must include data on adherence to the trial intervention(s). Manuscripts that do not report adherence data will not be considered. We highly recommend that both intention-to-treat and per protocol analyses are included.Studies that are truly innovative and involve in-depth or novel data collection and analysis (including both quantitative and qualitative methods), or advance research methods.High quality, novel systematic reviews (based on quantitative and qualitative studies) that follow PRISMA guidelines. The following types of manuscripts will be given the lowest priority and are the most likely to be rejected without review:Small, cross-sectional, descriptive studies without any innovative features.Studies having no control or reference group, unless they are clearly part of a step in testing, using mixed methods, the feasibility and acceptability of an intervention within a larger program of study.Studies that involve statistical hypothesis testing of intervention effects when there is no justification for the sample size.Studies consisting of non-clinical samples, unless they clearly add to our understanding of the physical activity and well-being relationship.Studies in which physical activity is only a covariate of interest.Studies with no recognized measure of physical activity.Studies with a focus on coaching and sports psychology (e.g., optimizing athlete performance).
  • Space Policy

  • Computers & Education

    • ISSN: 0360-1315
Computers & Education aims to increase knowledge and understanding of ways in which digital technology can enhance education, through the publication of high-quality research, which extends theory and practice. The Editors welcome research papers on the pedagogical uses of digital technology, where the focus is broad enough to be of interest to a wider education community. We do not publish small-scale evaluations of specific software/systems in specialist domains or particular courses in individual institutions (unless the findings have broader relevance that is explicitly drawn out in the paper). Papers that include discussions of the implementation of software and/or hardware should focus on the context of use, the user/system interface, usability issues and evaluations of the user experience and impacts on and particularly on the implications for learning and teaching. Computers as a delivery platform only is insufficient. Detailed information on implementation architecture should NOT be included in the paper, but may be provided via URLs.We welcome systematic review papers and meta-analyses that include clear research questions, a framework of analysis, and conclusions that reflect the aims of the paper. See PRISMA guidelines for further advice.Authors should take care to refer to and abide by the author guidelines. Papers that do not address the criteria outlined in the author guidelines will be returned without review. Authors are also welcome to submit to the journal's open access companion titles, Computers & Education Open or Computers & Education: Artificial Intelligence.

  • Marine Policy

    • ISSN: 0308-597X
Marine Policy is the leading journal of ocean policy studies. Submissions to Marine Policy must contribute to the formulation and understanding of marine policy, and must be of interest to a broad audience of academics, stakeholders and officials. Marine Policy offers researchers, analysts, stakeholders and policy-makers a unique combination of analyses in the principal social science disciplines relevant to the formulation of marine policy. Articles represent perspectives from fields such as marine affairs, marine economics and resource management, political science, marine science, human ecology, international law, geography, normative theory, anthropology and similar disciplines. Focal areas include, but are not limited to: international, regional and national marine policies; institutional arrangements for the management and regulation of marine activities; conflict resolution; marine pollution and environment; conservation and use of marine resources. We are not a technical journal and will recommend that overly-technical papers are transferred to other more relevant journals. We will consider policy papers that do include a technical analysis, but only if this directly informs a policy analysis or discussion. We request that authors minimise the inclusion of formulas and model details needed to explain the methods and analysis in the main text. Detailed formulae and calculations should be included in an appendix or supplementary materials, and summarised in the main text.Submissions to Marine Policy must include a cover letter that briefly describes the background for the paper and its significance for marine policy formulation and understanding. The cover letter should also note any related work that may be publicly available, such as a Doctoral or Masters thesis, institutional report, etc, so as to avoid any misunderstandings regarding plagiarism. The cover letter should also note any ethics processes and considerations if your study included field research, human research (i.e interviews, quantitative or qualitative surveys, ethnographic observations etc) or animal research. The submission must include an abstract of approximately 250 words that is self-contained and readable on its own. The abstract should describe the key content areas, the purpose of the research, its relevance or importance for policy formulation and understanding, the methodology, and the main outcomes. Abstracts should also include the key terms that a potential researcher may use to search. Abstracts allow editors, reviewers and readers to assess whether the paper is relevant to their purpose, and are important to search engines.Regular features of Marine Policy include research reports, conference reports and reports on current developments to keep readers up-to-date with the latest developments and research in ocean affairs.

    • ISSN: 1879-9817
The Official Journal of the Paleopathology AssociationPaleopath... is the study and application of methods and techniques for investigating diseases and related conditions from skeletal and soft tissue remains. The International Journal of Paleopathology (IJPP) will publish original and significant articles on human and animal (including hominids) disease, based upon the study of physical remains, including osseous, dental, and preserved soft tissues at a range of methodological levels, from direct observation to molecular, chemical, histological and radiographic analysis. Discussion of ways in which these methods can be applied to the reconstruction of health, disease and life histories in the past is central to the discipline, so the journal would also encourage papers covering interpretive and theoretical issues, and those that place the study of disease at the centre of a bioarchaeological or biocultural approach. Papers dealing with historical evidence relating to disease in the past (rather than history of medicine) will also be published. The journal will also accept significant studies that applied previously developed techniques to new materials, setting the research in the context of current debates on past human and animal health.Membership Benefits: Members of the Paleopathology Association receive online access to the International Journal of Paleopathology for free as a member benefit.
  • Scandinavian Journal of Management

    • ISSN: 0956-5221
The Scandinavian Journal of Management (SJM) provides an international forum for multifaceted aspects of management, and we specifically encourage authors to challenge existing knowledge. We publish original empirical, theoretical and methodological material that contributes to enhance the understanding of management in any type of organization (e.g., small, large, private, public, non-profit, for-profit, entrepreneurial, craft or arts based, community based). We welcome non-mainstream research approaches in terms of methodology, epistemology and ontology and we also consider various fields of management application, but narrow technical discussions relevant only to specific sub-fields will not enter the peer review process. However, we remain open to classical approaches in the field of management, but it is the task of proponents of such approaches to prove their worth. With this backdrop, we seek to promote dialogue rooted in openness, reasoned reflexivity and contextual awareness, and this is reflected in our fostering of constructive – critical yet respectful – conversations among researchers, as well as between authors and reviewers. SJM was founded in 1984, and it has since then become a journal where scholars from all over the world publish their work. Well beyond referring to a particular place or geography, Scandinavian reflects a state of mind, expressed through the following principles:1. Openness: Original research driven by curiosity over mundane organizational life predominate, and we invite inquiries that are challenging. Openness is also manifest in the broad thematic profile of the journal, relating to interdisciplinary approaches and novel ways of investigating and conceptualizing management-related phenomena.2. Reasoned reflexivity: Openness needs to be rooted in serious and compelling consideration of the epistemological and ontological foundations of the research endeavor, and the methodological underpinnings of inquiry. We ask authors to address and reflect on the role, positioning, and impact of the researcher/s in researching and theorizing.3. Contextual awareness: The reach and impact of modern management ideologies, ideas and practices is widespread, and can only be understood as entwined with society and nature; management is thus embedded in society, in nature. As such, SJM takes as one of its key tasks to contribute with knowledge about how management can be impactful for society and for nature, including the need for decentering management while foregrounding greater contextual sensitivity and humbleness. On behalf of our Editorial Team, we would like to invite you to consider the Scandinavian Journal of Management as a potential outlet for your work, a relevant journal for which to review, or simply where to find and enjoy a good read!
  • Computers & Operations Research

    • ISSN: 0305-0548
Computers & Operations Research is a privileged forum for state-of-the-art work exploring the theory and practice of Operations Research (OR) intertwined with advanced computational methodologies. The journal publishes high-quality innovative and impactful research articles in theories, modeling, algorithms, and applications of Operations Research.Since its first volume was printed in 1974, the journal has promoted different OR application areas that include but are not limited to Transportation, Logistics, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain Management. The journal has also triggered new trends in OR models and techniques such as Data Analytics, Decision-making under Uncertainty, and Behavioral OR. A strong focus has been put on recent advances in Statistics, Data Science, and Machine Learning. The form, content, and language of the articles should take cognizance of the breadth of applications covered by OR and of the consequent fact that many readers may not be experts in the scientific field to which the computer and operations research techniques are applied by the author. In particular, the abstract should concisely describe:1. the investigated problem(s), 2. the theoretical or methodological contribution, and 3. the insights. The journal is structured around seven major areas which, nonetheless, are not disjointed:Transport... and Supply Chains; Production and Scheduling; Decision-Making under Uncertainty and Data Analytics; Optimization—Exact Methods; Optimization—Approxi... Methods; Machine Learning and Data Science. The journal also publishes state-of-the-art surveys and best practice guides in Analytics, Operations Research, and Management Science. These articles are printed in a special section, “Surveys in Operations Research and Management Science”. Submissions can focus on theory or applications of OR/MS and can be of several types, including but not limited to: 1. Results that are considered standards by experts in the community but which have not been documented in textbooks; 2. Standard results which have been, in some way, streamlined, such as, for example, new proof techniques leading to more elegant derivations of known results; 3. New developments in methodology or new application areas ('hot topics'). A survey should be critical with respect to the existing knowledge and should focus on computational and algorithmic aspects. The journal publishes focused issues on topics of interest related to its editorial mission. Such issues typically contain between six and twelve articles. They are put together within an eighteen-month period under the responsibility of one or several guest editors. Prospective guest editors are encouraged to contact the Editor-in-chief.Full... reproducible results are core for papers accepted for publication in the journal. Hence, authors should grant full access to the data and codes underlying their work. Further information on different possibilities to accomplish this can be found at https://www.scienced... Best Paper AwardEvery year, the journal’s editors select one paper to receive the “CAOR Annual Best Paper Award”. The paper will be made free-to-view for one year, thus receiving privileged visibility. The winning and the runner-up papers will also be highlighted on the website in the “Editor’s Choice” section, staying there for one year.Further Information for authorsIt is the responsibility of the authors to ensure that the submitted manuscripts are written using proper English, that possible grammatical or spelling errors are eliminated and that the text conforms to correct scientific English. Submissions that do not satisfy these criteria may be rejected without being sent to reviewers. All full-length research papers published in the journal must demonstrate constructive algorithmic complexity and extensive numerical experiments. Numerical illustrations (examples) are not sufficient: the numerical experiments must have a scientific value of their own, particularly with comparisons to other approaches. The use of real-world data is also valued. In CAOR, (meta)Heuristics other than well-established algorithms such as evolutionary algorithms or ant colony optimization must be described in metaphor-free language. This is a way to ensure that they are immediately comparable to existing algorithms. The Harvard style is adopted in the journal for the bibliography. Authors should consider this while preparing their manuscripts, especially when preparing tables and charts involving bibliography references. The highly innovative contributions targeted by the journal prevent it from endorsing papers that present long and unsolvable formulations for variants or extensions of existing problems and then resort to a well-established approximate method to find approximate solutions. CAOR does not endorse papers emerging in the context of warfare activities planning. The authors working in that and related fields should look for specialized journals.

  • Journal of Development Economics

    • ISSN: 0304-3878
The Journal of Development Economics publishes original research papers relating to all aspects of economic development - from immediate policy concerns to structural problems of underdevelopment. The emphasis is on quantitative or analytical work, which is novel and relevant. The Journal does not publish book reviews. We welcome papers that take up questions in development economics that are of interest to the general readers of the journal, and then use data from a particular country or region to answer them. However, we do not publish articles that are essentially in-depth studies of a specific country, region, case, or event whose findings are unlikely to be of great interest to the general readers of the journal. In our review process we pre-screen all papers, some of which are immediately rejected. This includes papers that are not considered to be a good fit in terms of the topic or the methodology even though development is a broad field and sometimes this is a matter of subjective judgment. This also includes papers that fall short of our high standards, in terms of the contribution or value added to the literature, or in terms of methodological rigor. The Journal receives approx. 1300 papers per year and publishes only a small fraction (around 6-8%). To make this work in a timely fashion we only send 1/4 papers out for review. Given this volume we regret that we cannot provide explanations on our desk reject papers. Under normal circumstances, an author cannot submit (either s/he directly or through a co-author) more than three papers within any 12 month period. Papers that are once rejected by the JDE will not be considered for publication again, even if the authors use a new dataset or a new model. This is only possible if the editor in his or her decision letter explicitly leaves open this possibility. Special submissions:Register... Reports: The JDE offers authors the opportunity to have their prospective empirical projects reviewed and approved for publication before the results are known (referred to as 'Registered Reports'). This pre-results review track may be particularly suitable for authors working on research projects for which they have not yet collected or accessed data. Submissions in this track will follow existing policies outlined in the Author Information Pack, including the Mandatory Replication Policy, but specific information is available in the JDE Registered Reports Author Guidelines. A website including the Guidelines and information on Phase 1 acceptances to data is available here. To submit a Registered Report, select "Registered Report Stage I: Proposal" as the article type in the submission portal. "Registered Report Stage II: Full Article" should only be used for articles derived from accepted Stage I submissions.Short Papers: The JDE offers the authors a short-paper limited revision track. Submission guidelines follow AER: Insights. Manuscripts should be at most 6,000 words, with at most 5 exhibits (tables or figures). Online appendices of at most 20 pages are permitted, but manuscripts must be self-contained. Submissions will be desk rejected, rejected after review, or conditionally accepted. Decisions on refereed manuscripts generally occur within 6-8 weeks of initial submission, faster than for standard-length papers. To submit a short-format manuscript, select "Short Paper" as the article type in the submission portal. In addition to the direct submission process, the editors will also monitor standard-format rejections to identify manuscripts that would meet the journal's standards if they were rewritten in short format. In such cases, informed by the referee reports on the original standard-format submission, the Insights Co-editor will invite a new submission of the manuscript in short form, with a commitment to publish without further review if the authors follow a clear set of revision instructions.

Translational research submission can include problematization, rapid response research, prospective inquiry, design science, participatory research, evidence reviews, among others. For more information about the Translational Research section, please take a look at the A translational framework for entrepreneurship research article, the design science initiative, the ER3 initiative and the Entrepreneurial problems and scholarly impact special issue.Debates: This section promotes rigorous scholarly engagement with provocative, unresolved, or contentious issues in entrepreneurship. It provides a forum for paired essays arguing for and against a clearly defined “House Motion,” encouraging productive adversarialism grounded in evidence, logic, and professional respect. Submissions must advance theoretical understanding by clarifying assumptions, exposing conceptual tensions, or challenging orthodoxies in a structured and accessible format. Each contribution should follow a 12-page limit and declare a “For” or “Against” stance in the title. For details, see the editorial: From Heterodoxy to Debate: Advancing Contentious Issues in Entrepreneurship. Section editors: Robert J. Pidduck and Daniel R. Clark.
  • Journal of Policy Modeling

    • ISSN: 0161-8938
A Social Science Forum of World IssuesThe Journal is published by the Society for Policy Modeling as a forum for analysis and debate on policy issues. The Journal focuses upon the economic, social and political developments that now shape the world economy and the policies needed to improve them. The Journal emphasizes formal modeling techniques serving the purposes of decision making. Such a focus requires, in the first place, the highest academic standards, adherence to the state-of-the-art in the field, and the ability to critique prevailing conceptual methods. The proposed analytical instruments must be empirically validated on the basis of replicable data, and take into account the interdependence of economic trends over-time, countries and sectors.A second, key element in the evaluation of a submitted article is whether the proposed model can be of use for policy purposes and what policy-makers can learn from it. Editors discourage submission of papers exclusively focused on techniques, without answering the question: "what can public policy make out of the conclusions reached by the proposed model?" Historical and thematic reviews of modeling are welcomed. The Journal of Policy Modeling is published bimonthly by Elsevier Inc. It is supported by a special purpose, on-line depository of scientific papers, EconModels.com . By fostering an interactive exchange views about fully refereed papers, EconModels.com helps authors to adapt to digital life, gain broad recognition, generate debate, and share information with peers hard to reach otherwise. A Board decision whether to publish a given paper in the Journal of Policy Modeling or in EconModel.com reflects mostly logistical considerations (length, space, relevance, timing, queue). The scientific merits of research must be outstanding in either case.

  • International Journal of Production Economics

    • ISSN: 0925-5273
The International Journal of Production Economics focuses on topics treating the interface between engineering and management. All aspects of the subject in relation to manufacturing and process industries, as well as production in general are covered. The journal is interdisciplinary in nature, considering whole cycles of activities, such as the product life cycle - research, design, development, test, launch, disposal - and the material flow cycle - supply, production, distribution. The ultimate objective of the journal is to disseminate knowledge for improving industrial practice and to strengthen the theoretical base necessary for supporting sound decision making. It provides a forum for the exchange of ideas and the presentation of new developments in theory and application, wherever engineering and technology meet the managerial and economic environment in which industry operates. In character, the journal combines the high standards of a traditional academic approach with the practical value of industrial applications.Article... accepted need to be based on rigorous sound theory and contain an essential novel scientific contribution. Tracing economic and financial consequences in the analysis of the problem and solution reported, belongs to the central theme of the journal. Submissions should strictly follow the Guide for Authors of the journal. We are interested in publishing high quality survey and review papers in relevant domains. However, we stress that the hurdles for consideration of such papers are high. They must demonstrate a strong need, show that they are well-executed, and generate valuable insights. Survey and review papers must position themselves clearly in relation to existing related reviews and surveys in the field. Systematic reviews that merely describe publication patterns in a particular field are unlikely to be sent out for review for IJPE. All survey and review papers must show valuable critique of the field and new insights. Such papers will normally require author(s) with sufficient experience in the field to make appropriate judgements.

  • Journal of Health Economics

    • ISSN: 0167-6296
The Journal of Health Economics publishes economic analyses that deepen understanding of the value, production or distribution of health or healthcare. It aims to publish original research that advances knowledge in health economics or informs health policy. We welcome submissions that use economic theory or methods to deliver insights into a) value of health, b) economic impact of health, c) health behavior and inequality, d) determinants of health, e) healthcare costs, payments and financing, f) production and innovation in healthcare and pharmaceuticals, g) healthcare and health insurance competition and regulation, or h) economic evaluation of health policies or programs. We encourage submissions examining these topics in any setting, provided results are relevant outside narrow geographic boundaries. We publish papers of any length. There is no separate submission channel for short papers, which are encouraged. Generally, we do not publish a) opinion pieces, b) (systematic) reviews, c) cost-of-illness studies, d) applications of cost-effectiveness, efficiency or discrete-choice analyses without methodological innovation or high-impact evidence, c) time series analyses, and d) epidemiological studies with no economic analysis. A comment on a JHE article will be published only if it makes a substantial contribution by reevaluating results of a high-impact study. The JHE receives around 1200 submissions per year and publishes around 6%. We pre-screen all submissions and desk reject about 75% that a) fall outside our scope, b) use data or methods likely to compromise evidence validity, or c) do not make a substantial contribution. With a high volume of submissions, unfortunately, we cannot give detailed reasons for each desk-reject decision. There is no process to appeal a reject decision. A rejected paper cannot be resubmitted, unless the decision letter specifies conditions under which the paper would be reconsidered. Submission link: https://www.editoria...

  • Human Movement Science

    • ISSN: 0167-9457
The journal is devoted to pure and applied research related to the science of human movement. It provides a medium for publishing disciplinary and multidisciplinary studies on human movement. It brings together psychological, biomechanical and neurophysiological research on the control, organization and learning of human movement, including the perceptual support of movement. The journal also encourages submissions from the fields of sport and exercise science and kinesiology provided that the work expands knowledge and understanding of human movement. This can include articles that focus on performance analyses, and artificial intelligence/machine learning. The overarching goal of the journal is to publish articles that help advance theoretical understanding of the control and organization of human movement, as well as changes therein as a function of development, learning, and rehabilitation. The nature of the research reported may vary from fundamental theoretical or empirical studies to more applied studies in the fields of, for example, sport, dance and rehabilitation with the proviso that all studies have a distinct theoretical bearing. The journal is less keen on work that is descriptive in nature or that has limited generalizability outside a specific population pool or sample. Also, we consider both systematic and meta-analytical reviews of human movement. Narrative reviews are by invitation only and are generally reserved for established scholars; please contact the Editor-in-Chief or the relevant Section Editor for a discussion. These aims and scope imply that purely descriptive studies are not acceptable, while methodological articles are only acceptable if the methodology in question can have a significant impact on the development of new directions in understanding the control and organization of human movement. The same holds for articles on exercise physiology, which in general are not supported, unless they speak to the control and organization of human movement. In general, it is required that the theoretical message of articles published in Human Movement Science is, to a certain extent, innovative and not dismissible as just "more of the same."Human Movement Science will consider hypothesis-driven analyses and exploratory analyses for which the need for exploration can be motivated; the exploratory nature of any such analysis should be clearly stated. In line with its commitment to publishing methodologically sound studies, Human Movement Science now offers the possibility to publish high-powered hypothesis driven research and high-impact replications as Registered Reports. Through pre- registration of hypotheses and methodology and results-independent editorial decisions, this article type neutralizes many questionable research practices incentivised by today's publish-or-perish pressures. In addition to regular issues, special issues addressing a single theme or topic will be published. The journal has now appointed a dedicated Section Editor to focus on special issues and invited reviews. The journal will look to publish 1-2 special issues per annum. In case of special issues, the above criteria may be softened if the guest editor(s) is (are) of the opinion that this will further the insight into the theme of the special issue in question. Special issues containing articles based on papers presented at conferences and workshops or consisting of a "target article" followed by peer commentaries are also admissible.
