The journal covers the large variety of modern techniques in cognitive neuroscience, including functional and structural brain imaging, electrophysiology, cellular and molecular neurobiology, genetics, lesion-based approaches, and computational modeling. All articles must relate to human language and be relevant to the understanding of its neurobiological and neurocognitive bases. Published articles in the journal are expected to have significant theoretical novelty and/or practical implications, and use perspectives and methods from psychology, linguistics, and neuroscience along with brain data and brain measures.

    The aim of the journal is to provide a forum for papers concerned with basic peripheral and central auditory mechanisms. Emphasis is on experimental and clinical studies, but theoretical and methodological papers will also be considered. The journal publishes original research papers, review and mini- review articles, rapid communications, method/protocol and perspective articles.Papers submitted should deal with auditory anatomy, physiology, psychophysics, imaging, modeling and behavioural studies in animals and humans, as well as hearing aids and cochlear implants. Papers dealing with the vestibular system are also considered for publication. Papers on comparative aspects of hearing and on effects of drugs and environmental contaminants on hearing function will also be considered. Special Issues provide an opportunity to integrate knowledge about the designated theme area from different subdisciplines and methodologies, examine previously unaddressed aspects, propose and develop new approaches, exchange perspectives, and encourage novel lines of research and debate.Expertise & the Editorial Process - The two Editors in Chief and the Editorial Board bring the depth and breadth of their experience and expertise to our journal. The Co-Editors in Chief do an initial review of unsolicited topic proposals sent to the journal and determine which should be put forward to the Editorial Board for consideration. They also work with the Editorial Board to identify important areas of research for which proposals should be invited, and to identify and vet the appropriate guest editors for each topic. The invited Guest Editors then create an author invite list, which the Co-Editors in Chief and Editorial Board review and augment to ensure appropriate coverage in topics, perspectives, and geographic and gender diversity.The editorial staff determines the suitability for review of manuscripts submitted by the invited authors for special issues. These manuscripts are then sent for external peer review by the Guest Editor via Editorial Manager. Each submission must be reviewed by no fewer than two independent experts who assess the quality, originality, and novelty of the work.To ensure thorough and fair review, COBEHA Guest Editors are not allowed to handle the review of their own contributions, nor are they privy to the referees' names or affiliations for any submission under consideration where a Guest Editor is a contributor.     The Journal of Neuroscience Methods publishes papers that describe new methods that are specifically for neuroscience research conducted in invertebrates, vertebrates or in man. Major methodological improvements or important refinements of established neuroscience methods are also considered for publication. The Journal's Scope includes all aspects of contemporary neuroscience research, including anatomical, behavioural, biochemical, cellular, computational, molecular, invasive and non-invasive imaging, optogenetic, and physiological research investigations.The Journal no longer publishes papers that exclusively deal with research on skin, muscle (and muscle function, evoked muscle activity, EMG, motor evoked potentials, kinematics, motor learning, rehabilitation) and eye (retina, EOG, hand-eye co-ordination). We do not publish empirical papers, and no unpublished data should be included in the manuscripts. New analyses and modelling of previously published and publicly available dataset are allowed as long as their inclusion is essential to support the narrative of the Review. Simple data re-analyses (including meta-analyses) without a new conceptual or theoretical framework will not be considered. We welcome review articles from clinical researchers whose submission exceeds the high-quality threshold for the journal and significantly advances our understanding of a field.We require a statement disclosing any use of AI tools to assist in writing the acknowledgements section.     Pharmacology Biochemistry & Behavior publishes original reports in the areas of pharmacology and biochemistry in which the primary emphasis and theoretical context are behavioral. Contributions may involve clinical, preclinical, or basic research. Purely biochemical or toxicology studies will not be published.Papers describing the behavioral effects of novel drugs in models of psychiatric, neurological and cognitive disorders, and central pain must include a positive control unless the paper is on a disease where such a drug is not available yet.Papers focusing on physiological processes (e.g., peripheral pain mechanisms, body temperature regulation, seizure activity) are not accepted as we would like to retain the focus of Pharmacology Biochemistry & Behavior on behavior and its interaction with the biochemistry and neurochemistry of the central nervous system.Papers describing the effects of plant materials are generally not considered, unless the active ingredients are studied, the extraction method is well described, the doses tested are known, and clear and definite experimental evidence on the mechanism of action of the active ingredients is provided.
