Farming/Digital Agriculture/Smart Agriculture: The use of advanced technologies, including remote sensing, GIS, crop growth modelling, machine learning (deep learning), computer vision and data-driven approaches to optimize crop management in space and time. On-farm research and integrated precision farming systems are preferred. When determining the suitability of submitted articles for publication, we place particular scrutiny on the degree of novelty and significance of the research, the robustness of methodology, and the extent to which the study adds to existing knowledge in agronomy. Key criteria for experimental studies: Experimental studies must provide sufficient detail to ensure that results can be replicated under similar conditions. Research should allow for the verification of findings in different locations, contexts, or farming systems.Field experiments need to be either multi-locational or multi-year, and typically involving at least THREE years, and should be accompanied by appropriate statistical analysis. This is essential to assess the consistency of results across seasons, locations, and environmental conditions. Two-year studies should be considered exceptionally only if they are multi-locational or truly innovative.Studies should contribute to a deeper understanding of the biological and agronomic processes involved. Research should demonstrate new insights into crop growth, environmental interactions, or agronomic practices.Studies Typically NOT Considered for Publication:Confirma... research: Studies that simply replicate previously established results without offering new insights, processes, or significant contributions to the field of agronomy.Routine agronomy trials: Research focused solely on cultivar trials or conventional agronomy practices without identifying novel biological processes or mechanisms.Modelling studies with no innovation: Studies that merely test a model for its goodness-of-fit to observed data without addressing novel or significant agronomic questions. Artificial Intelligence (AI)-related studies: Studies that focus solely on developing AI tools without presenting practical applications or agronomic implications within the study.Glasshouse or controlled-environme... studies: These are typically not accepted unless they provide exceptionally strong evidence or unique insights that cannot be obtained through field-based research.Single-loca... or short-term field studies: Experiments limited to a single location or with very short durations (e.g., less than three years) that do not provide comprehensive insights into agronomic practices.Review articles are normally written on invitation from the Editor-in-Chief. Authors intending to prepare review papers for the journal are advised to consult the Editor-in-Chief before writing their reviews. Review articles should go beyond merely summarizing the current state of the art. They must provide a critical analysis of existing knowledge, identifying gaps, unresolved questions, and research needs. A high-quality review should synthesize findings, highlight controversies, and offer insights to guide future research directions.

  • Nuclear Medicine and Biology

    • ISSN: 0969-8051
Official Journal of the Society of Radiopharmaceutical SciencesNuclear Medicine and Biology publishes original research addressing all aspects of radiopharmaceutical science for imaging as well as therapeutic applications. More specifically the synthesis (automated and manual), in vitro and ex vivo studies, in vivo biodistribution by dissection or imaging, radiopharmacology, radiopharmacy of new radiopharmaceuticals... Translational studies of novel targeted radiopharmaceuticals... e.g. first in human use, are warmly welcomed. In addition, in vivo imaging studies using radioactive tracers for physiological and pathophysiological research or drug discovery support are welcome. In all cases, the importance of the target to an unmet clinical need should be the first consideration. These multidisciplinary studies should validate the mechanism of localization whether the tracer is based on binding to a receptor, enzyme, antigen, or another well-defined target. The studies should be aimed at evaluating how the chemical and radiopharmaceutical properties affect pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, or therapeutic efficacy. Ideally, the study would address the sensitivity of the tracer to changes in disease or treatment, although studies validating mechanism alone are acceptable as well. In the case of therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals... the specificity of labeled compound localization and therapeutic effect should be addressed. If the synthesis of a new radiopharmaceutical is submitted without in vitro or in vivo data, then the uniqueness of the chemistry must be emphasized and should provide a substantial improvement over existing methodologies.Articl... related to radiopharmacy, addressing the issues of preparation, automation, quality control, dispensing, and regulations applicable to qualification and administration of radiopharmaceuticals to humans, are also welcome if the article provides a significant impact on the field.

  • Livestock Science

    • ISSN: 1871-1413
Livestock Science promotes the sound development of the livestock sector by publishing original, peer-reviewed research and review articles covering all aspects of the broad field of animal production and animal science. The journal welcomes submissions on the avant-garde areas of animal genetics, breeding, growth, reproduction, nutrition, physiology, and behaviour in addition to genetic resources, welfare, ethics, health, management and production systems. The high-quality content of this journal reflects the truly international nature of this broad area of research. Submissions focusing on diagnosis, disease treatments and epidemiology are not welcomed and works entirely based on either laboratory work or laboratory animals are only rarely considered. Papers presenting reviews and meta-analyses must ensure that they provide new insights to our readers. When the novelty of the research presented (including meta-analyses) is due to the methods used, authors are encouraged to classify their works as either Short Communications or Technical Notes.  Although the use of commercial compounds is allowed, they must not be the basis of the research presented. Our board does not consider papers based on the use of drugs in experiments, such as antibiotics in animal nutrition or behaviour modifiers in animal breeding.

    • ISSN: 0168-1923
Agricultural and Forest Meteorology is an international journal dedicated to advancing the science of land-atmosphere interactions across agriculture, forests and other terrestrial systems (e.g. wetlands, tundra, urban environments). Manuscripts considered by Agricultural and Forest Meteorology for publication must include both of the following:Strong atmospheric components such as meteorological, micrometeorological, or climate-related processesDemonstrate how these atmospheric processes interact with the terrestrial surfaceThe journal’s scope includes research that applies micrometeorological theory, develops and evaluates novel instrumentation (e.g., sensors for trace gas measurements, flux measurement systems, radiation instrumentation), advances remote- and proximal-sensing approaches (e.g. satellite observations, UAV-based sensors), or employs models that represent land-atmosphere interactions (e.g. soil-vegetation-atmo... transfer models, data-fusion frameworks and physically guided machine learning models). These tools and approaches are applied to address research questions in the following areas:Energy, momentum, mass and trace gas exchange between ecosystems and the atmosphere, including their role in biogeochemical cycles (e.g. carbon, nitrogen) and water cycles (e.g. evapotranspiration)E... phenology and physiology Radiative transfer, water interception, turbulence and microclimate in vegetation canopiesAerobiology (e.g. the dispersion of pollen, spores, microorganisms, insects and pesticides)Impacts of climate variability and climate change on land-atmosphere interactions Impact of land use, land use change, and disturbances such as fire on land-atmosphere interactions Regional and global land-atmosphere feedbacksThe following submissions are discouraged:Studies that do not focus on the inter-relationship of concepts in meteorology and ecosystemsStudies reporting on climate trends without consideration of the impacts of such trends on ecosystemsDendrochro... and climate reconstruction studies that do not relate to land-atmosphere interactionsRemote sensing studies that report solely on methodology or on vegetation trends such as greeningSoil or plant focused studies that merely report weather or climate variables without investigating land-atmosphere interactionsSoil microbial ecology studiesStudies of the effects of management practices (e.g. mulching), soil processes or soil properties on respiration or greenhouse gas fluxes, without a strong atmospheric componentStudies of plant physiology, chemistry or genetics, without a strong atmospheric componentHydrologica... studies that are not primarily concerned with water vapour transfer to or from the atmosphereStudies of potential evaporation that do not also consider actual evaporationStudies conducted exclusively in controlled environments (e.g. growth chambers, incubators, wind tunnels, greenhouses)Design, technology and operation of greenhouses or other plant-growing facilitiesStudies based on data products or theoretical modelling studies that do not test model predictions against experimental data except for very novel models that target processes for which measurements are not yet possibleMachine-lear... studies that are limited in their results to a specific geographic region, without novel methodology or novel physical understandingNote that solely considering climate variables such as air temperature, precipitation etc., does not constitute the study of land-atmosphere interactions and as such are discouraged. All submissions will only be considered for publication if they clearly advance knowledge on land-atmosphere interactions or propose novel methods to study these interactions.
  • Plant Science

    • ISSN: 0168-9452
An international journal of experimental plant biologyThis journal has no page charges, publication is free of charge.Plant Science will publish in the minimum of time, reporting significant advances in plant biology as well as commissioned reviews, method papers (technical papers) and commentaries recommended by its referees in all areas of experimental plant biology with emphasis in the broad areas of genomics, proteomics, biochemistry, physiology, cell biology, development, genetics, functional plant breeding, systems biology and the interaction of plants with the environment. Although manuscripts containing large data are welcomed, they must contain functional validation.Manuscrip... for full consideration should be written concisely and essentially as a final report. The main criterion for publication is that the manuscript must contain original and significant insights that lead to a better understanding of fundamental plant biology. Plant Science is not a publication vehicle for preliminary observations, for studies that are merely confirmatory of results accomplished in other plant systems, or that are addressed only to a specialized readership. Submitted manuscripts describing studies of preliminary nature, that are merely confirmatory in scope or of limited scope and interest to the general readership of the journal will be returned without formal review. As a general policy, the journal will no longer consider manuscripts just describing the cloning, sequencing and expression patterns of gene sequences that have been identified and characterized in other plant species, expression of a protein without proper characterization of the recombinant product and native form, the isolation, purification and characterization of enzymes extensively analyzed in other plants, description of molecular markers and plant genetic diversity without any relevant biological information, cell culture and/or transformation of plant species (or closely related species) already established in the literature and basic transcriptomic approaches with no further relevant functional characterization of genes of interest.

  • Toxicology

    • ISSN: 0300-483X
Affiliated with the German Toxicology SocietyToxicology as a multidisciplinary, data-rich field has witnessed the availability of a cutting-edge technologies to investigate mechanisms underlying adverse consequences of exposures to xenobiotic chemicals, particularly as it relates to human health. Toxicology fully embraces these advancements by serving as a hub for exchange of information regarding state-of-the-art developments in the broad field of contemporary toxicology. Journal scope emphasis is on human-relevant and mechanistic research at all levels of biological organization, ranging from the molecular scale to the organismal level. The publication priority for Toxicology is on original high-quality research and review papers on any topic relevant to toxicology, in particular related to hazard identification, all that are subject to rigorous peer-review. Pharmacology-oriente... studies will not be considered for publication. The Toxicology target audience includes undergraduates to full professionals in academic, industrial and regulatory settings in any part of the world.Notes from the EditorsIn order to support interpretation of published findings to human health, the journal requires inclusion of specific statements within the ABSTRACT and METHODS sections of each submitted article:ABSTRACT:The experimental system (e.g., in vivo species, cell culture, etc.) including the exposure dose or concentration and duration that produces an effect, if an effect is observed, must be described in the ABSTRACT to the manuscript.MATERIALS AND METHODS:The relevance of the experimental system and exposure dose or concentration and duration in terms of potential human exposures must be described in the Materials and Methods section of the manuscript. Justification of the exposure cannot be based solely on previous publications, but rather the comparison must be to either estimated, anticipated, or measured human exposures. The authors must identify the chemicals by CAS number, their source and purity; the method of randomization for group sampling, the number of experimental sample replicates in each treatment group, and provide a proper description of the statistical analysis of data that was employed.Journal Policy:TOXICOLOGY does not publish results from exposures to uncharacterized chemical mixtures or extracts from natural products. All exposures must be fully characterized analytically. Justification for this policy is that it is near impossible for other investigators to replicate findings of a study wherein the chemical composition of the exposure is not completely characterized.TOXICO... does not publish purely descriptive safety studies or studies describing the therapeutic efficacy of cytotoxic agents without strong emphasis on end-points relating to a proposed mechanism of toxicity.TOXICOLOGY does not require animal studies to validate findings from human in vitro, in silico or other non-animal research. Reviewer requests for additional animal experiments will be carefully scrutinized by the editors and will generally not be endorsed as necessary for revision.TOXICOLOGY evaluates human-based new approach methodologies and other non-animal methods based on methodological quality, relevance and current best practices. Reviewer concerns about these approaches must be evidence-based and not rooted solely in preference for animal models. Animal-based validation of human in vitro, in silico or other non-animal studies is not required, and reviewer requests for additional animal experiments will generally not be endorsed by editors as necessary for revisions.

  • Journal of Plant Physiology

    • ISSN: 0176-1617
Mechanisms of Plant Function: from Molecular to Ecosystem ScalesThe Journal of Plant Physiology is a broad-spectrum journal that welcomes high-quality submissions in all major areas of plant physiology, including plant biochemistry, functional biotechnology, computational and synthetic plant biology, growth and development (including reproduction), photosynthesis and respiration, transport and translocation, plant-microbe interactions, biotic and abiotic stress. Studies are welcome at all levels of integration ranging from molecules and cells to organisms and their environments and are expected to use state-of-the-art methodologies. Pure gene expression studies are not within the focus of our journal. To be considered for publication, papers must significantly contribute to the mechanistic understanding of physiological processes, and not be merely descriptive, or confirmatory of previous results. We encourage the submission of papers that explore the physiology of non-model as well as accepted model species and those that bridge basic and applied research. For instance, studies on agricultural plants that show new physiological mechanisms to improve agricultural efficiency are welcome. Studies performed under uncontrolled situations (e.g. field conditions) not providing mechanistic insight will not be considered for publication. The Journal of Plant Physiology publishes several types of articles: Original Research Articles, Humboldt Reviews, Early-Career Researcher Reviews, Invited Reviews, Perspectives, Opinion Articles and Short Communications. Reviews, Perspectives and Opinion Articles will be solicited by the Editors. Original research papers comprise the majority of published contributions.Humbol... Reviews are expected take a broad approach, one that spans multiple areas of biological inquiry, and one that distinguishes itself from that taken in most regular review works by a deeper philosophical line of thought and a more global reach. Humboldt Reviews are also expected to be thoroughly respectful of the historical developments in a given field (i.e. not limit themselves to covering the literature of only the previous one to two decades) and speak to both its fundamental and applied aspects. They are named after Alexander von Humboldt (1769-1859), one of the most influential German natural philosophers of the 18th and 19th centuries. Our editors-in-chief take great inspiration from Alexander von Humboldt's profound and wide-ranging contributions. The Journal of Plant Physiology was founded in 1909 but it traces back to 1818 and to the geographic region Alexander von Humboldt was most active in. The Journal of Plant Physiology has consistently published landmark papers in plant physiology, and is one of the world's oldest international journals in the botanical sciences. For these reasons, we consider Alexander von Humboldt a particularly appropriate scholar after whom to name our prestigious review series.Early-Career Researcher Reviews: This new category is specifically aimed at early-career scientists starting their independent research careers. Suitable candidates will be nominated by senior scholars. Nomination letters should include a brief curriculum vitae and a justification for the selection. Nominees will be evaluated by the Editors-in-Chief and officially invited to submit articles. ECR Reviews should not exceed 8,000 words and contain no more than 150 references plus figures and tables.Early Career Researchers are within their first eight years of academic or other research-related employment, following completion of postgraduate research training.Founded in 1909, with roots tracing back to 1818, the Journal of Plant Physiology has consistently published landmark papers in plant physiology, and is one of the world's oldest international journals in the botanical sciences. An official journal of the Federation of European Societies of Plant Biology (FESPB)Authors are encouraged to carefully study the Aims & Scope of the journal to examine suitability of submissions. We discourage directly contacting editors about suitability of manuscripts, except in cases of proposals for Review, Opinion, or Perspectives articles, which are by invitation only. In the latter cases, well-developed proposals must be submitted for consideration.

  • Biochimica et Biophysica Acta: Gene Regulatory Mechanisms

    • ISSN: 1874-9399
BBA Gene Regulatory Mechanisms includes reports that describe novel insights into mechanisms of transcriptional, post-transcriptional and translational gene regulation. Special emphasis is placed on papers that identify epigenetic mechanisms of gene regulation, including chromatin, modification, and remodeling. This section also encompasses mechanistic studies of regulatory proteins and protein complexes; regulatory or mechanistic aspects of RNA processing; regulation of expression by small RNAs; genomic analysis of gene expression patterns; and modeling of gene regulatory pathways. Papers describing gene promoters, enhancers, silencers or other regulatory DNA regions must incorporate significant functions studies. The journal does not favorably review manuscripts identifying a miRNA-target pair without additional insights into the repression mechanism or significant advances in understanding regulatory pathways. In addition, the following elements should be an integral part of the study: •In silico prediction of miRNA targets must be experimentally verified using appropriate luciferase constructs and assays; •To exclude non-functional miRNA/mRNA interactions a reporter system including the whole 3'UTR of the target gene downstream the "luciferase" or GFP should be considered; •Any miRNA modulation should be validated by measuring the expression of the putative proteinPlease see our Guide for Authors for information on article submission. • Current Opinion in Physiology

    • ISSN: 2468-8673
What Current Opinions in Physiology publishes - COPHYS distinctly publishes invited short, annotated reviews in a Special Issue format. These short reviews are of recent (2-5 years) developments in the topic, as well as pointing out select individual papers of particular significance Each Special Issue focuses on a specific area of physiological research that has a broad appeal and falls within the aims and scope of the journal. Special Issues provide an opportunity to review a particular theme, examine previously unaddressed aspects, propose, and develop new approaches, exchange perspectives and encourage new lines of research.Expertise & the Editorial Process - Editors and the Editorial Board bring the depth and breadth of their experience and expertise to our journal. Each special issue's topic is facilitated and approved by the Co-Editors in Chief. The Editors in Chief work in tandem with the Editorial Board to select the most appropriate Guest Editors who are known experts in any given special issue's topic. The Guest Editors are responsible for creating an author invite list, which is then reviewed and augmented via Editorial Board evaluation prior to the Guest Editor inviting the contributing authors. The Guest Editors can also opt for the open call on the webpage along with the author's list.Once the papers for any of our curated short review special issues are received by COPHYS, the editorial staff determines their suitability for review. Submissions are checked that they are according to journal guidelines before being sent for external peer review by the Guest Editor via the submission platform. Each submission must be reviewed by no fewer than two independent experts who assess the quality, originality, and novelty of the work.COPHYS Guest Editors are not permitted to handle the review of their own contributions to ensure a thorough and fair review of their manuscripts. Guest Editors are not privy to the referees' names or affiliations for any submission under consideration where a Guest Editor is a contributor. Guest Editors must declare a potential conflict of interest for any submission under consideration and inform the journal Editors in Chief who then determine the appropriate course of action. For additional information about the role and responsibility of Guest Editors, please review the Elsevier Guest Editor Guide. As articles of the issue are accepted, the Editors in Chief perform a final evaluation of the articles before publication.Discover... - Articles receive high visibility and maximum exposure on an industry-leading platform that reaches a vast global audience. Please see our Guide for Authors for information on article submission.
