Appropriate submissions to Materials Science and Engineering A should include scientific and/or engineering factors which affect the microstructure - strength relationships of materials and report the changes to mechanical behavior.Please be advised that the Aims and Scope for the journal has recently been updated. The journal will no longer consider or publish papers on concrete and cement-based systems nor on polymeric and polymer-based materials. In addition, papers with an emphasis on corrosion or wear are discouraged, unless they specifically address novel mechanical behavior or related phenomena.

Mechanical Systems and Signal Processing (MSSP) is an interdisciplinary journal in Mechanical, Aerospace, and Civil Engineering aiming at reporting scientific advancements of the highest quality arising from novel concepts and techniques in signal and information processing and related topics in engineering dynamics and dynamical systems. MSSP papers are expected to make a demonstrable original contribution to engineering knowledge, which should be significant in terms of advancement over established methods. Especially sought are papers that include both theoretical and experimental aspects, or that include theoretical material of high relevance to practical applications. Mechanics Research Communications publishes, as rapidly as possible, peer-reviewed manuscripts of high standards. Submitted manuscripts should have a clear and concise exposition that incorporates all figures, tables and references. It aims to provide:• a fast means of communication • an exchange of ideas among workers in mechanics • an effective method of bringing new results quickly to the public • an informal vehicle for the discussion • of ideas that may still be in the formative stagesThe field of Mechanics will be understood to encompass the behavior of continua, fluids, solids, particles and their mixtures. Submissions must contain a strong, novel contribution to the field of mechanics, and ideally should be focused on current issues in the field involving theoretical, experimental and/or applied research, preferably within the broad expertise encompassed by the Board of Associate Editors. Forum for original scientific research on the flow, fracture, and general constitutive behavior of advanced technological and natural materialsMechanics of Materials, a journal in the field of solid mechanics and materials, aims to disseminate research work in the broad spectrum of engineering and natural materials. It reports research with a mechanically oriented description of substructures from nano- to macro-scales encompassing spatio-temporal behaviors, material instabilities, damage and fracture mechanisms, and interactions between mechanics and multiphysics phenomena including electricity, magnetism, chemistry and optics. Particular emphasis is placed on the inspection of strain rates, spatio-temporal scales, inception of microstructural features and their evolution, and couplings between mechanics and transport phenomena.The topics covered by the journal include: Thermo-mechanical constitutive response of metals, polymers, soft materials, bio-materials, natural and geo materials, ceramics, metallic glasses, granular materials, composites, shape-memory alloys, nanostructured materials, etc. Mechanics-based investigations on emerging areas such as 3D printing, additive manufacturing, bio-inspired materials, 2D materials, e.g., graphene and thin films, are encouraged. NDT&E international publishes peer-reviewed original research on non-destructive testing and evaluation (NDT&E) for the assessment of the structural integrity of engineering structures. The journal covers the established NDT&E sensing modalities of ultrasonics, electromagnetics, radiography as well as optical and thermal methods. The journal also covers research on new NDT&E techniques, and novel applications of established methods. In all cases, the focus should be on the physics and engineering science of the inspection method or application. The expectation is that any modelling or simulation is accompanied by experimental evidence. The journal covers all application areas in which NDT&E is used including, mechanical, aerospace and civil structures. Other novel application areas are considered where a close link to either traditional applications or techniques can be shown. Application-focused studies should go beyond being examples of best practice and include clear novel features and have wider implications. Whilst NDT&E most commonly relates to periodic inspections, long-term monitoring scenarios are also considered.The journal considers contributions on novel signal processing and data analysis methods where they can be demonstrated to enhance NDT&E applications. Machine learning is now an accepted tool for the analysis of NDT data. Hence, whilst papers that use machine learning are considered, its use must go beyond best practice and should fundamentally advance the field of NDT. In doing this we would expect the work to include consideration of the physics and engineering science of the inspection problem.The journal publishes a small number of review submissions, typically by invitation, with initial enquiries to the Editor-in Chief.

Methods used in papers should be validated in conditions that represent realistic marine environments. Research on civilian applications of underwater imaging, target detection, acoustic target recognition and image enhancement techniques related to marine automation is also within the scope.Human Factors and Maritime Safety including: Maritime accidents; fatigue management; risk assessment; situational awareness; maritime training; human errors; human performance in operation; human factors in maritime accidents; safety culture; human factors taxonomy; all related to maritime engineering.Out of scope topics last updated December 2024Ocean Engineering does not accept submissions on marine engines and auxiliary systems, heating and cooling systems, pumps, valves, underwater explosions, sediment transport, sediment disturbance and erosion, chloride penetration, dam break phenomena, or purely theoretical papers without any application to ocean engineering. Broad material science and corrosion studies without a focus on naval architecture or offshore engineering are also outside the journal's scope. Furthermore, the journal does not consider studies related to wind turbines unless there is a direct application to offshore engineering (such as offshore wind turbines). Research focusing on the mechanics of robotic devices or wireless power transfer systems also falls outside the journal’s scope.Additionally, Ocean Engineering does not accept submissions focusing solely on military applications. While the journal is currently open to papers on submarine hydrodynamics, it must be ensured that no sensitive or military-related content is included. The aim of any manuscript submitted to Ocean Engineering should be the worldwide dissemination of scientific knowledge, focusing on civilian applications that advance the broader field of ocean and maritime engineering.*Authors are requested to complete a Review Proposal Form for Editorial approval prior to submission of the review article.
