Applied Catalysis A: General
An International Journal Devoted to Catalytic Science and its ApplicationsApplied Catalysis A: General publishes original papers and reviews on all aspects of catalysis of basic and practical interest to chemical scientists in both industrial and academic fields. Papers that focus on advances in catalysis science, especially those that have potential practical implications, by exploring new concepts or new approaches to catalytic processes and materials resulting in new understanding of catalytic phenomena are most welcome.Papers that do not focus on catalytic phenomena and those that report results of a thorough study or optimization of systems or processes that are well understood, widely studied, or minor variations of known ones are strongly discouraged. In their submission, authors are required to include a "Justification for Publication" section comprising a statement detailing the fit of the manuscript to the scope of the journal. Submissions made without the inclusion of such a justification will be rejected without review. When preparing an article for submission, it is important that the authors describe their work succinctly in the context of any related published work emphasizing the novel contributions made. Simply reporting new catalyst compositions without delivering associated new insights in catalytic science will be insufficient for publication.- ISSN: 0926-860X

The International Journal of Chemical and Process Plant Safety. The broad scope of the journal is process safety. Process safety is defined as the prevention and mitigation of process-related injuries and damage arising from process incidents involving fire, explosion and toxic release. Such undesired events occur in the process industries during the use, storage, manufacture, handling, and transportation of highly hazardous chemicals.Focus and EmphasisThe focus of the journal is on loss prevention as practiced in the process industries with an emphasis on chemical and process plant safety. This emphasis will be readily identified in manuscripts that make extensive reference to the process safety literature. Regardless of the nature or origin of the manuscript, there must be a clearly defined and explicitly explained original research contribution to the field of process safety.Topics eligible for consideration by the journal include:Process safety managementProcess safety cultureIncident investigationDesign and reliability of protective systemsPlant layout, maintenance and modificationProcess alarm managementEmergency planningTransportati... of hazardous materialsOffshore oil and gas safetyEnergy safetyRelease and dispersion of toxic materialsProcess fires and explosionsDust explosionsRunaway reactionsProcess safety in emerging energy transitionInherently safer designHuman error and human factorsProcess securityProcess safety decision-making and economic issuesProcess safety education and trainingOther process safety topics not identified in the above listExclusionsTopics excluded from consideration by the journal include:Occupational health and safetySafety in non-process industry sectors such as construction and aviationStudies in the following areas, and in which there is no explicit consideration of the process safety implications of the research:Coal mine safetyFundamental combustion studiesFundamental corrosion studiesGeneral system reliabilityMaterial characterizationProc... control and monitoringOther non-process safety topics not identified in the above list- ISSN: 0950-4230

Separation and Purification Technology
Separation and Purification Technology is a journal dedicated to the dissemination of novel methods for separation and purification in chemical and environmental engineering for homogeneous solutions and heterogeneous mixtures. This includes any separation and/or purification of liquids, vapors and gases, resource recycling, purification of biobased feedstocks/products, carbon capture and separation, with the exception of methods intended for analytical purposes. The journal welcomes contributions related to bioseparations in biotechnology, pharmaceutical production, food processing, and environmental applications. Soil science, polymer science and metallurgy are outside the scope of the journal. The Official Journal of the American Filtration and Separations Society.Contribution... should be always related to new or improved separation methods or principles; applications are welcome provided that they are not a direct implementation of known separation methods.Separation and Purification Technology welcomes contributions focused on experimental studies and theoretical analyses of phenomena associated with and arising from separation and purification as well as process development and simulation, equipment design and fabrication. Preparation and modification of materials used in separation and/or purification operations can be considered if the intended separation and/or purification is an essential part of the work rather than a tool for characterization of a material. Such new materials should allow for separations that cannot be achieved with existing materials; alternative materials for e.g., adsorption are not sufficiently novel. Simulation studies are welcome, but should be accompanied by experimental verification. In view of ethical concerns regarding the detrimental impacts of fluorinated compounds, studies relying fully or in part on materials such as PVDF or PTFE are limited to the environmental impacts of PVDF-based materials used in separations and on possible environmentally-frie... alternatives. Research on fossil fuels is limited to studies not aiming at enhanced exploitation of fossil reserves. Manuscripts should be of global significance; studies addressing a local, national or regional challenge will not be accepted. The global relevance should be clearly explained in the manuscript.Review papers should be written by an author with proven expertise in the field, and provide a critical assessment of the state-of-the-art in a specific topic related to novel approaches in separation and purification.- ISSN: 1383-5866

Food Hydrocolloids
Food Hydrocolloids publishes original and innovative research concerned with the characterisation, functional properties and applications of hydrocolloid materials used in food products. Hydrocolloids are defined as polysaccharides and proteins of commercial importance that are added to food products to control, for example, the texture, stability, rheology and sensory properties. Details of their physicochemical characteristics must be provided such that the conclusions drawn from the study can be assessed with confidence and that the work can be repeated by others. Manuscripts should clearly outline the specific aims and objectives of the research and must include a fundamental discussion of the research findings at the molecular level and their significance. Manuscripts that simply report data without providing a detailed interpretation of the results will not be accepted for publication in the journal. Studies on hydrocolloids in complex formulations should focus on their influence on the overall properties and their mechanism of action. Simple formulation development studies that primarily aim to optimize proportions of mixed ingredients and/or investigate the variation of processing parameters to enhance formulated product properties will not be considered for publication. The main areas of interest are:The application of novel biochemical, chemical and physicochemical techniques for the characterisation of hydrocolloid materialsThe rheological and thermal properties of hydrocolloids in aqueous systems including their viscosity, viscoelastic properties and gelation behaviour The influence of hydrocolloids on the microstructure, texture and organoleptic properties of complex food systemsThe use of Artificial Intelligence approaches for the prediction and rationalisation of hydrocolloid structure–function relationships, molecular interactions and functional performance in food systemsThe interfacial properties of hydrocolloids including their application in the stabilisation of dispersions, emulsions and foamsHydrocolloid interactions with small molecules and interactions in mixed hydrocolloid systems including their phase behaviour, complexation and Maillard conjugationThe film forming properties of hydrocolloids with application in edible films, coatings and active packagingThe application of hydrocolloids to control the rheology and performance of food bio-ink formulations for 3D printingThe application of hydrocolloids for the encapsulation and controlled release of probiotics and active compounds for inclusion in food formulationsThe modification of hydrocolloid functionality through chemical, biochemical and physical processesThe extraction, physicochemical characteristics and application of hydrocolloid materials from non-traditional sources with commercial potential in food systemsThe function of hydrocolloids as soluble dietary fibre and their influence on human healthManuscripts that deal with the use of hydrocolloids in medical settings such as encapsulation of drugs, wound dressings and tissue engineering together with research involving animal studies will not be considered for publication in Food Hydrocolloids.
