The Agricultural and Biological Sciences collection advances science-based knowledge for the improvement of animal and plant life and for secure food systems that produce nutritious, novel, sustainable foods with minimal environmental impact. Food Science titles include not only those products from agriculture but all other aspects from food production to nutrition, health and safety, chemistry to security, policy, law and regulation. Biological Sciences address animal behaviour and biodiversity, organismal and evolutionary biology, entomology, marine biology and aquaculture, plant science and forestry.
Journal of Insect Physiology
Journal of Insect Physiology publishes papers on all aspects of insect physiology, and also on the physiology of other arthropods if the referees consider the work to be of general interest. We prioritise papers that test broad physiological questions or hypotheses over narrower, more focused papers. Current topical areas of interest include endocrinology, environmental physiology, neurobiology, metabolic physiology and gas exchange, nutrition and growth, reproduction, and behaviour. Papers on interactions of microbiomes with physiological processes may be appropriate. Papers on functional genomics and molecular approaches may be considered if they bear directly on physiological problems; typically these papers should contain physiological data, not just transcriptomic data and other bioinformatics approaches. Innovative methods papers are also welcomed. Review articles will be considered by invitation only and by prior arrangement with the Editors-in-Chief. Given the recent increases in the number of submissions addressing pesticides, we have adopted the following policy. Such manuscripts may be appropriate for the journal but only if they address basic physiological problems. For example, papers that examine pesticide effectiveness or measure transcriptomic changes after exposure are unlikely to be sent out for review; such papers would be better suited to journals aimed at pesticides or agriculture.- ISSN: 0022-1910

Food & Humanity is a broad and inclusive scientific journal covering all areas of science related to food, with an emphasis on food chemistry, food safety, nutrition & health, sensory & consumer sciences, and sustainable food systems. BBA Bioenergetics covers the area of biological membranes involved in energy transfer and conversion. In particular, it focuses on elucidating molecular mechanisms and structure-function relationships of bioenergetic components of photosynthesis, mitochondrial and bacterial respiration, oxidative phosphorylation, and motility and transport, as well as their structural aspects. Livestock Science
Livestock Science promotes the sound development of the livestock sector by publishing original, peer-reviewed research and review articles covering all aspects of the broad field of animal production and animal science. The journal welcomes submissions on the avant-garde areas of animal genetics, breeding, growth, reproduction, nutrition, physiology, and behaviour in addition to genetic resources, welfare, ethics, health, management and production systems. The high-quality content of this journal reflects the truly international nature of this broad area of research. Submissions focusing on diagnosis, disease treatments and epidemiology are not welcomed and works entirely based on either laboratory work or laboratory animals are only rarely considered. Papers presenting reviews and meta-analyses must ensure that they provide new insights to our readers. When the novelty of the research presented (including meta-analyses) is due to the methods used, authors are encouraged to classify their works as either Short Communications or Technical Notes.  Although the use of commercial compounds is allowed, they must not be the basis of the research presented. Structure, Function and InteractionsThe International Journal of Biological Macromolecules is an established international journal of research into chemical and biological aspects of all natural macromolecules.It presents the latest findings of studies on the molecular structure and properties of proteins, macromolecular carbohydrates, glycoproteins, proteoglycans, lignins, biological poly-acids, and nucleic acids. These findings must be new and novel rather than a repeat of earlier or analogous published work. Meat Science
The journal Meat Science has been the leading journal in its field now for more than 40 years.The qualities of meat – its composition, nutritional value, wholesomeness and consumer acceptability – are largely determined by the events and conditions encountered by the embryo, the live animal and the postmortem musculature. The control of these qualities, and their further enhancement, are thus dependent on a fuller understanding of the commodity at all stages of its existence – from the initial conception, growth and development of the organism to the time of slaughter and to the ultimate processing, preparation, distribution, cooking and consumption of its meat.It is the purpose of Meat Science to provide an appropriate medium for the dissemination of interdisciplinary and international knowledge on all the factors which influence the properties of meat. The journal is predominantly concerned with the flesh of mammals; however, contributions on poultry will only be considered, if they demonstrate that they would increase the overall understanding of the relationship between the nature of muscle and the quality of the meat which muscles become post mortem. Journal of Hydrology publishes original research papers and comprehensive reviews in all the subfields of the hydrological sciences, including water based management and policy issues that impact on economics and society. Technique papers will be considered for publication if they significantly advance the field of insect biochemistry and molecular biology in the opinion of the Editors and Editorial Board.Requirements for RNAi Experiments in Lepidopteran InsectsGiven the growing concerns regarding the reproducibility of RNA interference (RNAi) experiments in lepidopteran species, the Editorial Board has established the following requirements to guide the evaluation of manuscripts employing RNAi in these insects. Authors are asked to review these criteria carefully and ensure that their submissions meet the standards necessary for consideration in this journal.1. Use of alternative and complementary methods: Whenever appropriate and feasible, authors are encouraged to consider established genetic approaches such as CRISPR/Cas‑mediated gene knockout prior to relying on RNA interference (RNAi). When RNAi is employed, results should be supported by complementary approaches, including pharmacological inhibition or other independent validation methods.2. Minimization of off‑target effects: To reduce the possibility of off‑target silencing, at least two non‑overlapping dsRNA sequences targeting the same gene must be tested separately.3. Rigorous experimental controls: RNAi experiments must include a non-treatment (or vehicle) control, as well as multiple dsRNA treatment controls (such as dsRNA against unrelated genes like GFP, as well as dsRNA against other endogenous genes, such as those in the same gene family) to demonstrate specificity of the observed phenotypes.4. Demonstration of specific and significant knockdown: Authors must provide quantitative evidence (e.g., qRT‑PCR or other validated quantitative assays) showing that expression of the target gene is significantly reduced by the specific dsRNA treatments, but not by control dsRNAs. A minimum of three independent biological replicates is required for each treatment. Whenever possible, knockdown should also be confirmed by an independent method, such as quantification of the encoded protein.5. Consideration of biological and technical variability: The editorial board recognizes that factors such as dsRNA delivery method, developmental stage, and tissue accessibility can strongly influence RNAi outcomes. Veterinary Immunology and Immunopathology
An International Journal of Comparative ImmunologyThe journal reports basic, comparative and clinical immunology as they pertain to the animal species designated here: livestock, poultry, and fish species that are major food animals and companion animals such as cats, dogs, horses and camels, and wildlife species that act as reservoirs for food, companion or human infectious diseases, or as models for human disease.Rodent models of infectious diseases that are of importance in the animal species indicated above,when the disease requires a level of containment that is not readily available for larger animal experimentation (ABSL3), will be considered. Papers on rabbits, lizards, guinea pigs, badgers, armadillos, elephants, antelope, and buffalo will be reviewed if the research advances our fundamental understanding of immunology, or if they act as a reservoir of infectious disease for the primary animal species designated above, or for humans. Manuscripts employing other species will be reviewed if justified as fitting into the categories above.The following topics are appropriate: biology of cells and mechanisms of the immune system, immunochemistry, immunodeficiencies, immunodiagnosis, immunogenetics, immunopathology, immunology of infectious disease and tumors, immunoprophylaxis including vaccine development and delivery, immunological aspects of pregnancy including passive immunity, autoimmuity, neuroimmunology, and transplanatation immunology. Manuscripts that describe new genes and development of tools such as monoclonal antibodies are also of interest when part of a larger biological study. Studies employing extracts or constituents (plant extracts, feed additives or microbiome) must be sufficiently defined to be reproduced in other laboratories and also provide evidence for possible mechanisms and not simply show an effect on the immune system.Ideas and suggestions for Special Issues are also welcome. These may focus on a planned conference/symposium for which a selection of the best papers could be published together (after peer review). Alternatively, they could consist of a group of invited papers which together present an up-to-date overview on an important immunological topic.- ISSN: 0165-2427

Marine Environmental Research publishes original research papers on chemical, physical, and biological interactions in the oceans and coastal waters. The journal serves as a forum for new information on biology, chemistry, and toxicology and syntheses that advance understanding of marine environmental processes.Submission of multidisciplinary studies is encouraged. Studies that utilize experimental approaches to clarify the roles of anthropogenic and natural causes of changes in marine ecosystems are especially welcome, as are those studies that represent new developments of a theoretical or conceptual aspect of marine science. All papers published in this journal are reviewed by qualified peers prior to acceptance and publication.
