Composites Science and Technology publishes refereed original articles on the fundamental and applied science of composites. The focus of the journal is on polymeric matrix composites with reinforcements/fille... ranging from nano- to macro-scale. CSTE encourages manuscripts reporting unique, innovative contributions to the materials science, physics, chemistry and applied mechanics aspects of advanced composites.Besides traditional fiber reinforced composites, novel composites with significant potential for engineering applications are encouraged. Introduction: To tackle complex real world problems, scientists have been looking into natural processes and creatures - both as model and metaphor - for years. Optimization is at the heart of many natural processes including Darwinian evolution, social group behavior and foraging strategies. Over the last few decades, there has been remarkable growth in the field of nature-inspired search and optimization algorithms. Currently these techniques are applied to a variety of problems, ranging from scientific research to industry and commerce. Publishing Invited ReviewsThe importance of lipids as one of the fundamental classes of biological compounds is well established. The application of our of the biochemistry, chemistry and physiology of lipids to biotechnology, the fats and oils industry and medicine have continued to expand apace. In addition new dimensions such as lipid biophysics, especially with relevance to membranes and lipoproteins, and basic liposome research and applications have been added. To cope with all these advances in knowledge a journal is needed to review recent progress in particular fields and to set current research against its historical background. Progress in Lipid Research fulfils this role.Each volume contains up-to-date surveys of special aspects of lipid research. The invited reviews are comprehensive enough to provide sufficient overview but concentrate on reporting and critically appraising the most recent data. Subjects are chosen for their timeliness or because major developments have taken place in the last few years. They include methodological reviews as well as chemical, biochemical and medical articles. All lipid compounds and derivatives are covered, ranging from fatty acids and other simple molecules, through steroids, terpenoids and phospho- or glycolipids to complex structures such as lipoproteins and biological membranes. We hope that those whose main interest is in lipid biophysics and liposome research will join as new readers, benefiting from the journal's classical aspects of lipid metabolism, lipids in signal transduction and lipid enzymology, and that current readers will benefit from the exposure to top quality research on the new aspects.PLR solely publishes review articles, and submissions are by invitation only. Morphology, Distribution, Functional Ecology of PlantsFLORA, the scientific botanical journal with the longest uninterrupted publication sequence (since 1818), considers manuscripts in a range of areas of botany which appeal to a broad international scientific readership. The journal publishes original contributions and review articles on plant structure (morphology and anatomy), plant developmental biology (ontogeny), phytogeography (including phylogeography), plant population genetics, plant functional ecology (including ecophysiology), plant population ecology, biotic interactions between plants and other organisms, plant community ecology, and ecosystem ecology. Suggestions for Special Issues are welcome, as are compilations of manuscripts (both original and review articles) for Special Features on a specific topic. Manuscripts on the following subjects are highly welcome, especially when they integrate between areas or research approaches: comparative and evolutionary aspects of morphology, anatomy and development, ecophysiology of plant species related to their distribution, mechanisms of ecological interactions in plant communities (e.g. plant-plant interactions, plant-soil feedback, and plant-animal interactions), reproductive ecology including plant-pollinator interactions, genetic and spatial structure of plant populations, and functional diversity in plant communities. Manuscripts focused on floristics or vegetation studies will only be considered if they go beyond a purely descriptive approach and have relevance for interpreting plant structure, distribution or ecology. Manuscripts whose content is restricted to taxonomy, phylogeny, nomenclature, or geobotany of local interest, or applied agricultural, horticultural, pharmacological or silvicultural aspects, or experimental studies dealing exclusively with investigations at the cellular or subcellular level will not be considered for publication.Article typesResearch article: Reporting original results of a theoretical, explorative or experimental botanical research. Typically, 6000-8000 words in length, but longer articles are also being considered, when the content justifies the extent. Review article should go further than the simple summary of published literature and should provide an in-depth analysis of the selected topic and should indicate research gaps or further directions of research. Should be drafted up to 8000 words, but longer manuscripts also being considered when the content justifies the extent. Potential authors are invited to submit an outline, abstract and list of authors first before the full submission of the manuscript.Opinion article: short pieces with a word count to 3000 words of the main text, presenting new ideas and insights, commentaries, opinion responses or new analyses to a published paper of the journal. Opinion article submissions will be assessed first by the editors and in case the topic is of broad interest of the journals potential readership will undergo regular review process for the journal. Commentaries are possible to papers published in the last 12 months in the journal and considered when they provide constructive and well-founded critiques or provide useful arguments for further development of a formerly published research idea. Opinion articles can convey new research ideas or hypotheses for discussion, and it is not necessary to support the idea with own-data-driven analyses. Opinion articles can be single-authored or multi-authored but no more than five authors. Potential authors are invited to submit an outline, abstract and list of authors first before the full submission of the manuscript.Editorial article (for editors, editorial board members and guest editors only)Humboldt Review article (by invitation only): The “Humboldt Review” article type was named after the German scientist Alexander von Humboldt (1769-1859), who was the first describer of the phenomenon of climatic zonation of plant communities and the describer of the first plant functional types among other numerous discoveries. The “Humboldt Review” article type has been established in 2025 to honour eminent researchers in any field covered by the journal’s scope. In each year, 1-2 researchers will be selected by the chief editor(s) based on the nominations of the section editors of the journal for being invited to provide an opinion-review or synthesis paper on their field of research. The guidelines for drafting a Humboldt Review are the same as for a review paper with the exception that the review candidate should also provide a bio sketch up to 250 words and a photograph of her- or himself, which is published together with the accepted manuscript. The Journal of High Energy Astrophysics (JHEAP) is the first astrophysical journal that focuses on the study of the most energetic phenomena.JHEAP seeks scientifically sound papers, and particularly those crossing strict specialization fields, attracting wide interest. The journal welcomes manuscripts on theoretical models, simulations and observations of energetic astrophysical objects both in our Galaxy and beyond. Among those, black holes at all scales, neutron stars, pulsars and their nebula, magnetars, fast radio bursts, binaries, novae and supernovae, their remnants, active galaxies are just a few examples. The journal will consider research across the whole electromagnetic spectrum, as well as research using various messengers, such as gravitational waves or neutrinos. Effects of high-energy phenomena on cosmology and star-formation, results from dedicated surveys expanding the knowledge of extreme environments, and astrophysical implications of dark matter are also welcomed topics.The journal does not accept purely theoretical papers without applications to high-energy astronomical objects. Work resulting in fundamental insights that benefit engineering design to accommodate high-rate loading, is relevant to the journal. Well-designed and well-documented experimental studies that advance knowledge in the response of materials and structures subjected to impact, blast and high-rate loading are of relevance and interest. However, they should be accompanied by analysis of the experimental data and appropriate conclusions. The incorporation of analytical modelling and/or numerical simulations to support the experimental findings, will enhance the depth and quality of the research reported and make it more compelling. Manuscripts that focus primarily on mathematics, materials science or computation, with little contribution to the scope of impact dynamics described above, as well as those of a purely descriptive nature lacking in analysis, will be declined. Papers comprising largely parametric studies (e.g. using commercial software), unaccompanied by convincing validation and discussion of implications or applications of results generated, as well as those on novel computational techniques without comparison with established analysis or test data, are also not solicited. In all numerical studies, it is essential to demonstrate that the material parameters used in the simulations truly represent the actual physical properties of the material investigated. Consequently, sufficient description/discussi... on how the material parameters were obtained, together with any assumptions, would be necessary. The numerical modelling must also include sufficient information to enable third parties to repeat the simulations. Manuscripts comprising primarily the following content should be submitted to other journals that are more directly related to them: (1) case studies or descriptions of engineering designs subjected to impact or blast loading; (2) dynamic testing that generates experimental data without in-depth analysis; and (3) work focused on defence or military technology. Papers in the International Journal of Impact Engineering should generally be of interest to those in the aeronautical, civil, mechanical, materials, naval, nuclear, ocean, offshore, and transportation engineering fields, as well as those in other science and engineering branches that deal with various aspects of impact, blast and high-rate loading.Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) – Manuscripts describing research employing ML or AI techniques must show clearly how they contribute to advancement in impact engineering and a deeper understanding of the mechanics or physics governing the topic investigated. Authors should outline the AI model’s architecture and describe the training procedure. To ensure reproducibility by others, the training datasets should also be made accessible to IJIE readers, either as supplementary material or via an open-access repository.Companion papers - Authors should submit manuscripts that can be reviewed on their own, without assuming that related earlier or subsequent submissions will be published and available for reference.
