Ageing Research Reviews
As the average human life expectancy has increased, so too has the impact of ageing and age-related disease on our society. Ageing research is now the focus of thousands of laboratories that include leaders in the areas of genetics, molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry, and behaviour. Ageing Research Reviews (ARR) covers the trends in this field. It is designed to fill a large void, namely, a source for critical reviews and viewpoints on emerging findings on mechanisms of ageing and age-related disease. Rapid advances in understanding of mechanisms that control cellular proliferation, differentiation and survival are leading to new insight into the regulation of ageing. From telomerase to stem cells to energy and oxyradical metabolism, this is an exciting new era in the multidisciplinary field of ageing research. The cellular and molecular underpinnings of manipulations that extend lifespan, such as caloric restriction, are being identified and novel approaches for preventing age-related diseases are being developed. ARR publishes articles on focussed topics selected from the broad field of ageing research, with an emphasis on cellular and molecular mechanisms of the aging process and age-related diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes and neurodegenerative disorders. Applications of basic ageing research to lifespan extension and disease prevention are also covered in this journal.- ISSN: 1568-1637

Journal of Behavior Therapy and Experimental Psychiatry
A Journal of Experimental PsychopathologyThe Journal welcomes contributions to the understanding and treatment of psychopathology. Such contributions may stem from various theoretical perspectives. The Journal primarily focuses on (quasi)experimental tests of psychological approaches to psychopathology, though contributions from medicine, biology, sociology, or epidemiology may be considered. The same holds for non-experimental approaches (e.g., prospective approaches), which may occasionally be published if deemed relevant for the field of experimental psychopathology. Papers to be published generally focus on:Theoretically or clinically relevant differences between specific patient groups and other groups, if experimentally tested;(Transdiagnos... mechanisms that cause, perpetuate or reduce disorders;Diagnostic or therapeutic proceduresParticipan... in the studies may be patients, healthy subjects, or animals, depending on the relevance of the subject characteristics for the question to be answered. We encourage the investigation of transdiagnostic constructs. Relatedly, we strongly encourage studies testing hypotheses on characteristics of a disorder to not only include a non-patient control group, but also at least one appropriate clinical control group, to assess the specificity of the effect. We cannot guarantee acceptance of studies missing an appropriate clinical control group.Pre-registrati... of all studies is strongly encouraged and justification of statistical power required. We ask authors who submit studies that were not pre-registered to provide a motivated justification in their cover letter. Clinical trials (RCTs and others) should be registered in an official trial register and the registration number should be reported. These studies should include a flow diagram according to the most recent CONSORT guidelines and a CONSORT checklist should accompany the submission. See http://www.consort-s... for the guidelines and forms. Any changes in the submitted study as compared to the pre-registered study (e.g., intended sample size, primary and secondary outcome variables, method) should be stated explicitly in the manuscript.Case studies, open trials, and pilot studies may be considered for publication in the Journal if they are unusually innovative Consecutive case series with appropriate designs (i.e., contrasting at least two conditions; e.g. multiple baseline design) and appropriate statistical analyses are considered for publication.Theoreti... contributions on topics relevant to the field of experimental psychopathology are also considered as well as systematic reviews and meta-analyses, given that they meet the appropriate guidelines for reporting. Replications are essential in science and are, to the present editors' opinion, often undervalued. Short reports of attempts to replicate experimental studies, whether successful or failed, and whether applied or fundamental, are considered for publication, if appropriately powered. The maximum number of words is 2500 for these reports. All submissions will first be screened on the degree to which they match the Aims and Scope of the Journal.- ISSN: 0005-7916

Stay up to date and let the Journal do the work for you!- ISSN: 1526-0542

Trends in Neuroscience and Education
Trends in Neuroscience and Education aims to bridge the gap between our increasing basic cognitive and neuroscience understanding of learning and the application of this knowledge in educational settings. It provides a forum for original translational research on using systems neuroscience findings to improve educational outcome, as well as for reviews on basic and applied research relevant to education.Just as 200 years ago, medicine was little more than a mixture of bits of knowledge, fads and plain quackery without a basic grounding in a scientific understanding of the body, and just as in the middle of the nineteenth century, Hermann von Helmholtz, Ernst Wilhelm von Brücke, Emil Du Bois-Reymond and a few others got together and drew up a scheme for what medicine should be (i.e., applied natural science), we believe that this can be taken as a model for what should happen in the field of education. In many countries, education is merely the field of ideology, even though we know that how children learn is not a question of left or right political orientation.Contrary to the skeptics (who claim that "brain science […] is not ready to relate neuronal processes to classroom outcomes ", Cf. Hirsh-Pasek K, Bruer JT, 2007), we believe that we know today more about the neuroscience of learning than Helmholtz et al. back then knew about the body. In fact, from our perspective very little was known, as cellular pathology, microbiology and pharmacology hardly existed as domains of scientific investigation, let alone as tools for physicians. But the very idea - medicine is applied science - caught on and led to unprecedented and dramatic improvements in medicine. In our view, this is precisely what we must do in order to make progress in education. "You claim all learning is taking place in the brain. If that's so, which type of preschool is most effective? " - From a medical perspective, it is obvious that a neuroscientist cannot answer such questions alone. But it is just as clear that the answers will come from research informed by developmental cognitive neuroscience. Trends in Neuroscience and Education will foster activities on the translational research that is needed.Neuroscience is to education what biology is to medicine and physics is to architecture. Biochemistry is not enough to cure a patient, and physics is not enough to build a bridge. But you cannot perform great work, neither in medicine nor in architecture, against the laws of physics or biology. And in fact, they will inform you about many constraints and rule out a great many of projects right from the start as failures.- ISSN: 2211-9493

Comparative Immunology, Microbiology & Infectious Diseases
An International Journal focused on Comparative Veterinary and Medical ResearchComparative Immunology, Microbiology & Infectious Diseases aims to respond to the concept of "One Medicine - One Health" and to provide a venue for scientific exchange. Based on the concept of "Comparative Medicine" interdisciplinary cooperation between specialists in human and animal medicine is of mutual interest and benefit. Therefore, there is need to combine the respective interest of physicians, veterinarians and other health professionals for comparative studies relevant to either human or animal medicine .CIMID is mainly focusing on applied veterinary medicine with a particular focus on zoonotic pathogens. It includes etiology, biology, clinical diseases, epidemiology, diagnosis, control. Experimental in vitro studies and studies on laboratory animals are generally not accepted. Non infectious diseases are not accepted. Specific focus on human diseases can only be accepted if it concerns major zoonotic pathogens. Reviews are generally not accepted, except if they contain new or recent developments. CIMID does not accept manuscript focusing on Mycology. The journal is open to subjects of common interest related to the immunology, immunopathology, microbiology, parasitology and epidemiology of human and animal infectious diseases, especially zoonotic infections, and animal models of human infectious diseases. The role of environmental factors in disease emergence is emphasized. CIMID is mainly focusing on applied veterinary and human medicine rather than on fundamental experimental research.Original research papers of high quality and novelty on aspects of host response, molecular biology, pathogenesis, control and prevention and treatment of microbial and parasitic diseases of domestic animals and wildlife (if the infections are of zoonotic interest and/or in relation with domestic animals and/or can serve as a model for human diseases). Papers dealing primarily with epidemiology will be considered if they demonstrate a clear impact on the clinical features, pathogenesis or prevention of a disease. Similarly, articles addressing microbiology, parasitology, immunology or pathogenesis must address issues of comparative medical interest. Manuscripts focusing on probiotics or diseases and/or immunology of fishes are not part of our overall scope, as they are better fitted to more specialized journals. Manuscripts dealing with food hygiene and food risk are not part of our overall scope. Manuscripts dealing strictly with experimental design and fundamental research may not be considered depending the overall consequences for the knowledge of a disease.Review articles can be accepted. They should focus either on a pathogen or on analyses of the mechanisms of host-pathogen interactions including epidemiological studies. Proposal for such manuscripts should be submitted to the Co-Editors in Chief for approval before submitting the manuscript.Papers focusing solely on diagnostic techniques, case reports or drug trials will generally not be accepted. Papers of geographically limited interest, which repeat what had been established elsewhere, will not be considered. The readership of the journal is global. The Editors reserve the right to suggest submission to another journal for those papers which they feel would be more appropriate for consideration by that journal.Papers will be rejected if standards of care of, or procedures performed on animals are not beyond those expected of humane veterinary care. Journal of Transport & Health
The Journal of Transport & Health (JTH) is devoted to publishing research that advances our knowledge on the many interactions between transport and health and the policies that affect these. In general, we will prioritise papers that evaluate or inform the development of interventions and policies to improve population health, or that make a genuinely original contribution, rather than being basic descriptive studies. The journal aims to cover transport and health issues in all countries; in general, studies should have a context, or lessons, that can be transferred to other locations. Interactions between transport and health include, for instance:the impacts on public health and inequalities of:active modes of transport;noise and air pollution generated by transport;road travel injuries (see below);community severance;road danger and its reduction (see below):actual safety and security hazards associated with transport;perception... of danger and factors affecting these;factors affecting transport choices:urban form;location and accessibility of health and other facilities;age, gender, health and disability;socio-eco... inequalities;ruralit... travel;synergies between sustainability and health impacts of transport;economic and health impact assessmentsmethodolo... advances, including considerations of complex systems; andpolicies and interventions that promote or discourage healthy and sustainable transport modes, transport systems and communities (see below). We wish the Journal of Transport & Health to publish articles at the cutting-edge that are significant for policy and practice. The readership is international and multi-disciplinary; articles need to be understood by intelligent readers from a broad range of specialties and places. We are particularly keen to encourage submissions that are cross-disciplinary or inter-disciplinary. The journal has three particular aims:to promote dialogue and collaboration between the two research communities it serves;to improve the methods and the quality and appropriate use of data to better understand the relationships between transport and health; andto encourage transfer of research into practice. Is my manuscript in scope for Journal of Transport & Health? The journal's original scope remains largely unchanged, but with the experience of the past few years, we now offer more guidance for articles about active travel (walking and cycling, including to/from public transport [transit]) and road travel collisions and injury. We seek papers that advance our knowledge or use innovative designs and analyses that expand and contribute significantly to an already established literature.Active TravelThere is a well-established connection between active travel, primarily walking and cycling, and population health. We are looking for innovative designs and analyses that expand and contribute significantlyto an already established literature. We encourage submission of papers that evaluate or inform the development of interventions and policies to improve population health or that make a genuinely original contribution, rather than being basic, descriptive studies, even if from countries without previous published papers on the topic. In general, we will no longer consider cross-sectional analyses of children's school travel, even if yours is the first such study in a particular location. Studies producing substantial, transferable new information may be considered.Road travel injuries (fatal and non-fatal)There are many journals that focus on transport crashes and injuries, any unintentional injuries, and engineering; we do not wish to duplicate these. We are therefore restricting the scope of our journal to those that are more public health-focused, are more cross-disciplinary, and do not have an engineering or laboratory basis. We will no longer consider manuscripts that relate to collisions or crash severity that have little or no health focusWe will continue to consider manuscripts that focus on:road travel injuries, both fatal and non-fatal, and their long-term health consequences; andsocial and environmental determinants of road travel injury and health outcomes (acute and/or chronic). In general, we will not consider manuscripts where numbers are used rather than rates when exploring associations with danger or safety, whether as a cross-sectional association or in longitudinal studies examining change. The fact that more people are injured where, or when, more people travel is not very enlightening. In countries without suitable travel-related denominator data (distances travelled, time spent travelling, or number of trips), population-based denominators will be accepted. For example, when describing the proportion of casualties by age or by travel mode, it is important to compare those with the proportions in the general population. We require all authors to avoid the word 'accident' except where it is in the reference of a document they are citing. Although it means 'unintentional', it is often interpreted as meaning 'unavoidable'. More importantly, 'accident' is sometimes used to refer to the event (crash/collision/fal... and sometimes to the consequence (casualty/injury/fat... It is not always clear which is meant. See BMJ 2001;322:1320 for a longer explanation.Your manuscript is definitely not suitable for the Journal of Transport and Health if it does not focus on transport and health.Your manuscript is probably unsuitable for the Journal of Transport & Health:it is full of acronyms; orthere are three or more pages of formulae.- ISSN: 2214-1405
