These processes concern the production of useful metabolites or materials, or the removal of toxic compounds using tools and methods of current biology and engineering. Its main areas of interest include novel bioprocesses and enabling technologies (such as nanobiotechnology, tissue engineering, directed evolution, metabolic engineering, systems biology, and synthetic biology) applicable in food (nutraceutical), healthcare (medical, pharmaceutical, cosmetic), energy (biofuels), environmental, and biorefinery industries and their underlying biological and engineering principles.Main topics covered include, with most of possible aspects and domains of application: • Fermentation, biochemical and bioreactor engineering • Biotechnology processes and their life science aspects • Biocatalysis, enzyme engineering and biotransformation • Downstream processing • Modeling, optimization and control techniques.Particula... aspects related to the processes, raw materials and products, also include: • Quantitative microbial physiology, stress response, signal transduction • Genetic engineering and metabolic engineering • Proteomics, functional genomics, metabolomics, and bioinformatics • Chiral compounds production, cell free protein system, high-throughput screening, in-vivo/in-vitro evolution, enzyme immobilization, enzyme reaction in non-aqueous media • Mass transfer, mixing, scale-up and scale-down, bioprocess monitoring, bio-manufacturing • Cell, tissue and antibody engineering: animal and plant cells/tissues, algae, micro-algae, extremophile, antibody screening and production • Environmental biotechnology: biodegradation, bioremediation, wastewater treatment, biosorption and bioaccumulation • Bio-commodity engineering: biomass, bio-refinery, bio-energy • Bioseparation, purification, protein refolding. • Other new bioprocess and bioreactor related topics especially on application to healthcare sectors- ISSN: 1359-5113

Journal of Biotechnology
The Journal of Biotechnology (J. Biotech.) offers publication for both full-length articles and short communications on a wide range of biotechnology-relate... topics. Also, review articles can be submitted if they are pre-approved by one of the editors. The journal will only accept submissions with novel scientific research results that are directly relevant to biotechnological systems and/or applications (for details, please see the list below). J. Biotech. has strict rules about plagiarism. Any submission that includes parts of already published material will be rejected. This includes any attempt to re-publish already published Materials and Methods paragraphs. The journal features a "one-pass review process," i.e., eligible submissions will be reviewed, and those that need improvements (either minor or major) can be resubmitted only once before the decision about whether to accept or reject is decided by the Chief Editor. All figures need to be submitted as high-resolution files during the initial submission. All articles must be written in English, and the quality of the English language will be one of the criteria during the review process.Main Scope of the Journal:Bioprocess engineeringSystem biology, synthetic microbiologyMetaboli... engineering, microbial physiologyBiorefiner... biomass engineeringBiochemic... enzyme/protein engineeringMetabolic engineeringMicrobial expression systemsBiocatalyst engineeringInsect cell-based modelsMultienzyme cascade reactionsPlant-based biotechnologyOutside of the Scope:Manuscripts lacking noveltyReview articles submitted without previous invitation/confirmat... by an editorEnvironmental-... subjects, e.g., waste-water treatment, bioremediation, biodegradationReport... on the cloning and/or expression of naturally occurring enzymes without direct biotechnological applicationResearch on natural products without biotechnological modificationToxicolo... researchPharmacologi... researchFood science-related research without biotechnological applicationEngineeri... articles that do not deal with the direct improvement of biotechnological processesGenome research, especially genome sequencing reports- ISSN: 0168-1656

Biotechnology Advances
Biotechnology Advances is a review journal which considers all aspects of the multidisciplinary field. The scope includes biotechnology principles and applications in industry, agriculture, medicine, environmental concerns and regulatory issues. Authoritative articles on current developments and future trends in biotechnology are emphasized.Submissio... of appropriate manuscripts are invited. A wide audience of scientists, engineers and others is addressed: students, instructors, researchers, practitioners, managers, governments and related stakeholders. Special issues are published on selections of presentations at recent relevant conferences as arranged with the organizations.- ISSN: 0734-9750

Cognition
International Journal of Cognitive ScienceCognition is an international journal that publishes theoretical and experimental papers on the study of the mind. It covers a wide variety of subjects concerning all the different aspects of cognition, ranging from experimental studies of behavior and of the brain to formal analysis.Papers will be selected on the basis of their scientific quality, their degree of innovation and their unambiguous theoretical advance to the study of cognition. Paper's overall soundness of the argument and degree of empirical motivation, especially from converging sources, are more important than adherence to specific methodological principles. Studies that selectively focus on the cognitive and neural mechanisms that underlie problems with cognition in clinical populations or on purely methodological questions fall outside the scope of Cognition. Because Cognition enjoys a wide readership from many disciplines, authors should explicitly consider the general theoretical issues raised by their work and its relevance to other topics and methods. Materials should describe work done and methods used in a clear and explicit manner (allowing reproduction of the methods by others).- ISSN: 0010-0277

Engineering Fracture Mechanics
Published in Affiliation with the European Structural Integrity SocietyEFM covers a broad range of topics in fracture mechanics to be of interest and use to both researchers and practitioners. Contributions are welcome which address the fracture behavior of conventional engineering material systems as well as newly emerging material systems. Contributions on developments in the areas of mechanics and materials science strongly related to fracture mechanics are also welcome. Papers on fatigue are welcome if they treat the fatigue process using the methods of fracture mechanics. The Editors especially solicit contributions which synthesize experimental and theoretical-computat... studies yielding results with direct engineering significance.EFM is committed to publishing research content that supports and advances the energy transition and the reduction of CO2 emissions. In light of this and in response to market changes, we have decided to decline research papers on the topic of fossil fuels.- ISSN: 0013-7944

International Journal of Fatigue
Published in Affiliation with the European Structural Integrity SocietyThe International Journal of Fatigue aims to publish high quality, original papers that provide new insights into the mechanisms governing fatigue of materials and structures. The emphasis during the evaluation process will be on potential impact of the work, in terms of new scientific findings and substantial advancements to the field. The following aspects of existing engineering materials and structures, as well as newly emerging materials and structures, are of particular interest:Microstruct... sensitive aspects of fatigue crack initiation and growth, including ties to manufacturing processing and defect structures;New, empirically motivated descriptive models or rigorous validation and uncertainty quantification of existing models and codes of practice, in both cases these should be based on large datasets, considering multiple materials and loading configurations;Under... the influence of ?additive? manufacturing and processing route on fatigue performance, and embedding this understanding in more predictive schemes for mitigation and design against fatigue;New experimental findings, which either challenge existing models or are aligned with an extension of their application limits and the associated data pool;Fatigue analysis of materials and structures based on data science, including data mining, data fusion, and machine learning; andCombined and coupled behaviors that affect thermo-chemical-mech... degradation processes under cyclic loading conditions, including environmental degradation, are also included in the scope of the journal. The International Journal of Fatigue encourages papers that identify new mechanisms that enhance the scientific understanding and associate predictions of fatigue, which may include novel fatigue testing and characterization methods, as well as advanced modeling. Papers that openly provide companion algorithms, models, tools, databases, range, and limits of validation are sought. Papers with insufficient novelty, providing test data without new scientific findings or performing routine case studies or finite element analyses, are discouraged.- ISSN: 0142-1123
