Journal of Molecular Graphics and Modelling
The Journal of Molecular Graphics and Modelling is devoted to the publication of papers on the uses of computers in theoretical investigations of molecular structure, function, interaction, and design. The scope of the journal includes all aspects of molecular modeling and computational chemistry, including, for instance, the study of molecular shape and properties, molecular simulations, protein and polymer engineering, drug design, materials design, structure-activity and structure-property relationships, database mining, and compound library design.As a primary research journal, JMGM seeks to bring new knowledge to the attention of our readers. As such, submissions to the journal need to not only report results, but must draw conclusions and explore implications of the work presented. Authors are strongly encouraged to bear this in mind when preparing manuscripts. Routine applications of standard modelling approaches, providing only very limited new scientific insight, will not meet our criteria for publication. Reproducibility of reported calculations is an important issue. Wherever possible, we urge authors to enhance their papers with Supplementary Data, for example, in QSAR studies machine-readable versions of molecular datasets or in the development of new force-field parameters versions of the topology and force field parameter files. Routine applications of existing methods that do not lead to genuinely new insight will not be considered.JMGM is published in association with two of the largest and most active professional societies in the field: the Molecular Graphics and Modelling Society (MGMS) and the Computers in Chemistry (COMP) Division of the American Chemical Society. Several thousand computational chemists worldwide belong to these two societies and any research topic that may of interest to the membership is within the wide scope of the journal. The journal aims to span the whole range from fundamental research to practical application.The journal focuses on the research that advances physical and analytical science of thermal phenomena. Therefore, the manuscripts are expected to provide important insights into the thermal phenomena studied or to propose significant improvements of analytical or computational techniques employed in thermal studies. Manuscripts that report the results of routine thermal measurements are not suitable for publication in Thermochimica Acta.The journal particularly welcomes papers from newly emerging areas as well as from the traditional strength areas: - New and improved instrumentation and methods - Thermal properties and behavior of materials - Kinetics of thermally stimulated processesEach paper submitted for publication should clearly present: a) Scientific motivation (i.e., why this study is of interest); b) Relevance to the stated scope of Thermochimica Acta (i.e., why thermal methods play a crucial role in the study, or why this study is important for the use and development of thermal methods); c) General significance of the obtained results (i.e., how this study contributes to the advancement of knowledge in the general area of the study). Note that novelty of a study does not necessarily imply general significance of the results.Manuscripts reporting results of kinetic studies are expected to follow the ICTAC Kinetics Committee recommendations for collecting kinetic data (Thermochim. Acta 590 (2014) 1-23, and for performing kinetic computations (Thermochim. Acta 520 (2011) 1-19). The journal publishes regular full-length articles, short communications (either novel, unexpected theoretical or experimental results or short reports of collections of new data), and reviews (usually invited by an Editor, but proposals from authors are welcome).

Cell Chemical Biology (originally Chemistry & Biology) is a Cell Press journal that aims to publish and promote the most important advances in chemical biology with integrity, responsiveness, fairness, and friendliness. Chemical biology is a multidisciplinary discipline that harnesses chemical principles to discover the molecular mechanisms of biological function and disease etiology and develop solutions for life sciences, biotechnology, and human health.Cell Chemical Biology encourages submission of basic, translational, and clinical research articles that provide significant conceptual advancements of broad general interest to researchers within the biological sciences, the biomedical sciences, and associated fields. Research areas that we consider within our scope include but are not limited to cancer biology, immunology, cell biology, microbiology, virology, RNA biology, synthetic biology, protein engineering, genome editing, drug discovery, metabolism, and physiology.We are interested in papers that report molecular mechanisms underlying cellular processes or disease biology, those that report new therapeutics derived from utilizing chemical biology tools, and those that report technologies that perturb, visualize, or measure biological processes. Chemical Physics
Frontier research on physical phenomena in chemistry, biology and materials scienceCriteria for publication in Chemical Physics are novelty, quality and general interest in experimental and theoretical chemical physics and physical chemistry. Articles are welcome that deal with problems of electronic and structural dynamics, reaction mechanisms, fundamental aspects of catalysis, solar energy conversion and chemical reactions in general, involving atoms, molecules, proteins, clusters, surfaces, interfaces and bulk matter. Reports on new methodologies and comprehensive assessments of existing ones, as well as applications to new types of problems are especially welcome. Experimental papers are expected to be brought into relation with theory, and theoretical papers should be connected to present or future experiments. Manuscripts that apply standard methods to specific physical-chemical problems and/or to specific systems are appropriate if they report novel results for an important problem of high interest and/or if they provide significant new insights.Manuscripts describing routine use or minor extensions or modifications of established and/or published experimental and theoretical methodologies are not appropriate for the journal. In addition, manuscripts describing analytical procedures that use established spectroscopic techniques, such as for sample characterization, will not be accepted for publication, even if they appear new or improved with respect to procedures previously used.In addition to regular research papers, Chemical Physics publishes invited perspectives articles (called ChemPhys Perspectives) and Special Thematic Issues. Each Chemical Physics Special Issue provides a snapshot of the leading edge in current research of a particular field in chemical physics, and contains invited articles by specialists in that field. The objective is to create a collection of articles representative of the newest findings in a field and equivalent to that covered at a topical conference.
