Anaerobe is essential reading for those who wish to remain at the forefront of discoveries relating to life processes of strictly anaerobes. The journal is multi-disciplinary, and provides a unique forum for those investigating strictly anaerobic organisms that cause infections in humans and animals, as well as anaerobes that play roles in microbiomes or environmental processes. Manuscripts describing novel species of obligate anaerobes will be reviewed, if the description of the new species also includes information showing novel phenotypic characteristics, pathogenicity and/or unique metabolic activity within the microbiome from which it was isolated. Manuscripts describing novel anaerobic species that are only different from other related members of a genus based on genotype will not be reviewed.Manuscript types accepted (see Guide for Authors for more information):Original research articles Original research reports on one or more of the above listed categories. Up to 4000 words, not including a structured abstract, figures, tables and references.Short Communications Presentation of brief observations that do not warrant a full-length publication. Up to 1500 words not including abstract, figures, tables and references. Short communications should report complete datasets and not preliminary findings.Reviews and minireviews Reviews are typically 7,000 words in length including relevant tables and/or figures. Anaerobe does not accept manuscripts on descriptive, sequence-based surveys of microbiomes, even if the environments of the sampled ecosystems select for anaerobic species. However, when studies such as these are accompanied by direct, mechanistic assays of strictly anaerobic components, they will be considered for publication. 2. Anaerobe will not consider manuscripts that deal only with descriptive accounts of the beneficial effects of potentially novel probiotic strains, unless such strains belong to strictly anaerobic species that have previously not been associated with probiotic features. Anaerobe will continue to consider manuscripts for publication that address determinations of the specific mechanism(s) of action of anaerobic probiotic strains.

Antiviral Research aims to publish manuscripts in the field of prevention and treatment of viral diseases in humans and vertebrate animals, and encourages authors to the submit manuscripts describing the activity of well-defined chemical compounds for the treatment of viral diseases. The journal is an Official Publication of the International Society for Antiviral Research. The types of papers published in Antiviral Research includes original research reports, short communications, commentaries and invited review* articles on the control of viral infections in humans. The journal’s scope encompasses:antiviral drugs, antibodies and host-response modifiers, including their synthesis, in vitro and in vivo testing and mechanisms of action.identification and validation of new drug targets;laboratory animal models of viral diseases for antiviral efficacy testing;evolution of drug-resistant viruses and the development of effective counter measures;pathogenesis of viral diseases and mechanisms of viral evasion of host immune responses;assessments of drug safety;new or improved vaccines against viral infections of humans; the prevention and treatment of viral diseases of vertebrate animals, and reports of the testing of veterinary vaccines in the target animal species. All papers must include a sufficiently detailed description of methods to permit other investigators to replicate the experiments. Authors reporting the antiviral effect of a novel small-molecule drug must reveal its chemical structure. Claims of in vitro or in vivo efficacy of a drug or vaccine must be supported by appropriate statistical analysis that must be clearly described in the manuscript.Antiviral Research journal does not publish reports on viral diseases of plants or of insects, crustaceans or other invertebrates. Studies of viral diseases of livestock and companion animals must be clearly related to the development of realistic therapies. Papers on veterinary vaccines should report findings in the target animal species.We discourage the submission of manuscripts reporting the antiviral activity of unpurified natural products, or of partially purified substances of natural origin for which a mechanism of action has not been determined. Manuscripts claiming an antiviral effect of homeopathic products or other highly diluted preparations, or which fail to clearly identify the biological ingredient or molecule responsible for the antiviral activity of an experimental therapy, will not be considered for publication. Articles describing antiseptics with broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity will not be accepted. We discourage the submission of in silico docking studies or other computer-based predictions of antiviral activity that are not supported by data from biological assays. Citations of reports that have not undergone peer review must include the note "[not peer-reviewed]."ISAR members Authors who are ISAR members are encouraged to contact ISAR after their paper has been accepted for publication in order to benefit from their published work being highlighted in ISAR postings on their social media platforms (further details on this will be given in the AVR acceptance letter). *Antiviral Research journal has started a new initiative to publish at least two thematic special issues per year, containing invited reviews in addition to the ad hoc invitations to experts in the areas within the scope of the journal.

An International Journal focused on Comparative Veterinary and Medical ResearchComparative Immunology, Microbiology & Infectious Diseases aims to respond to the concept of "One Medicine - One Health" and to provide a venue for scientific exchange. Based on the concept of "Comparative Medicine" interdisciplinary cooperation between specialists in human and animal medicine is of mutual interest and benefit. Therefore, there is need to combine the respective interest of physicians, veterinarians and other health professionals for comparative studies relevant to either human or animal medicine .CIMID is mainly focusing on applied veterinary medicine with a particular focus on zoonotic pathogens. It includes etiology, biology, clinical diseases, epidemiology, diagnosis, control. Experimental in vitro studies and studies on laboratory animals are generally not accepted. Non infectious diseases are not accepted. Specific focus on human diseases can only be accepted if it concerns major zoonotic pathogens. Reviews are generally not accepted, except if they contain new or recent developments. CIMID does not accept manuscript focusing on Mycology.The journal is open to subjects of common interest related to the immunology, immunopathology, microbiology, parasitology and epidemiology of human and animal infectious diseases, especially zoonotic infections, and animal models of human infectious diseases. The role of environmental factors in disease emergence is emphasized. CIMID is mainly focusing on applied veterinary and human medicine rather than on fundamental experimental research.Original research papers of high quality and novelty on aspects of host response, molecular biology, pathogenesis, control and prevention and treatment of microbial and parasitic diseases of domestic animals and wildlife (if the infections are of zoonotic interest and/or in relation with domestic animals and/or can serve as a model for human diseases). Papers dealing primarily with epidemiology will be considered if they demonstrate a clear impact on the clinical features, pathogenesis or prevention of a disease. Similarly, articles addressing microbiology, parasitology, immunology or pathogenesis must address issues of comparative medical interest. Manuscripts focusing on probiotics or diseases and/or immunology of fishes are not part of our overall scope, as they are better fitted to more specialized journals. Manuscripts dealing with food hygiene and food risk are not part of our overall scope. Manuscripts dealing strictly with experimental design and fundamental research may not be considered depending the overall consequences for the knowledge of a disease.Review articles can be accepted. They should focus either on a pathogen or on analyses of the mechanisms of host-pathogen interactions including epidemiological studies. Proposal for such manuscripts should be submitted to the Co-Editors in Chief for approval before submitting the manuscript.Papers focusing solely on diagnostic techniques, case reports or drug trials will generally not be accepted. Papers of geographically limited interest, which repeat what had been established elsewhere, will not be considered. The readership of the journal is global. The Editors reserve the right to suggest submission to another journal for those papers which they feel would be more appropriate for consideration by that journal.Papers will be rejected if standards of care of, or procedures performed on animals are not beyond those expected of humane veterinary care.
