Journal of Hospital Infection
An Official Journal of the Healthcare Infection SocietyThe Journal of Hospital Infection is the editorially independent scientific publication of the Healthcare Infection Society. The aim of the Journal is to publish high quality research and information relating to infection prevention and control that is relevant to an international audience. The Journal welcomes submissions that relate to all aspects of infection prevention and control in healthcare settings. This includes submissions that:provide new insight into the epidemiology, surveillance, or prevention and control of healthcare-associate... infections and antimicrobial resistance in healthcare settings;provide new insight into cleaning, disinfection and decontamination;prov... new insight into the design of healthcare premises;describe novel aspects of outbreaks of infection;throw light on techniques for effective antimicrobial stewardship;describe novel techniques (laboratory-based or point of care) for the detection of infection or antimicrobial resistance in the healthcare setting, particularly if these can be used to facilitate infection prevention and control;improve understanding of the motivations of safe healthcare behaviour, or describe techniques for achieving behavioural and cultural change;improve understanding of the use of IT systems in infection surveillance and prevention and control. We also welcome submissions that relate to national policies or guidelines, especially where the subject matter is of international relevance.Although our readership is predominantly clinical, we are also pleased to receive basic science submissions that have clinical relevance. The Journal's open access companion title, Infection Prevention in Practice, welcomes a range of submissions providing practical information to healthcare professionals working in infection prevention and control.- ISSN: 1286-4579
Microbes and Infection
As of the end of 2025, Elsevier will no longer publish the journal on behalf of the Institut Pasteur. We would like to express our sincere thanks to the authors, referees, and editors who contributed to the journal over past years. Published papers will remain available on ScienceDirect.A Journal on Infectious Agents and Host Defenses A publication of the Institut PasteurMicrobes and Infection publishes 8 peer-reviewed issues per year in all fields of infection and immunity, covering the different levels of host-microbe interactions, and in particular:the molecular biology and cell biology of the crosstalk between hosts (human and model organisms) and microbes (viruses, bacteria, parasites and fungi), including molecular virulence and evasion mechanisms.the immune response to infection, including pathogenesis and host susceptibility.emerg... human infectious diseases.systems immunology.molecular epidemiology/genetic... of host pathogen interactions.microbi... and host "interactions".vacci... development, including novel strategies and adjuvants.Clinical studies, accounts of clinical trials and biomarker studies in infectious diseases, unless purely descriptive, are within the scope of the journal.Microbes and Infection publishes articles on human pathogens or pathogens of model systems. However, articles on other microbes can be published if they contribute to our understanding of basic mechanisms of host-pathogen interactions. Purely descriptive and preliminary studies are discouraged.Reviews of a major topic of current interest must be commissioned by a Microbes and Infection editor. Unsolicited contributions and presubmission enquiries will not be considered.Special issues focus on the present knowledge of a virulent microbe and the disease it causes, the immune response in infectious disease, or on critical issues relevant to the scope of the journal.- ISSN: 1383-5769

Veterinary Immunology and Immunopathology
An International Journal of Comparative ImmunologyThe journal reports basic, comparative and clinical immunology as they pertain to the animal species designated here: livestock, poultry, and fish species that are major food animals and companion animals such as cats, dogs, horses and camels, and wildlife species that act as reservoirs for food, companion or human infectious diseases, or as models for human disease.Rodent models of infectious diseases that are of importance in the animal species indicated above, when the disease requires a level of containment that is not readily available for larger animal experimentation (ABSL3), will be considered. Papers on rabbits, lizards, guinea pigs, badgers, armadillos, elephants, antelope, and buffalo will be reviewed if the research advances our fundamental understanding of immunology, or if they act as a reservoir of infectious disease for the primary animal species designated above, or for humans. Manuscripts employing other species will be reviewed if justified as fitting into the categories above. The following topics are appropriate: biology of cells and mechanisms of the immune system, immunochemistry, immunodeficiencies, immunodiagnosis, immunogenetics, immunopathology, immunology of infectious disease and tumors, immunoprophylaxis including vaccine development and delivery, immunological aspects of pregnancy including passive immunity, autoimmuity, neuroimmunology, and transplanatation immunology. Manuscripts that describe new genes and development of tools such as monoclonal antibodies are also of interest when part of a larger biological study. Studies employing extracts or constituents (plant extracts, feed additives or microbiome) must be sufficiently defined to be reproduced in other laboratories and also provide evidence for possible mechanisms and not simply show an effect on the immune system.Ideas and suggestions for Special Issues are also welcome. These may focus on a planned conference/symposium for which a selection of the best papers could be published together (after peer review). Alternatively, they could consist of a group of invited papers which together present an up-to-date overview on an important immunological topic.- ISSN: 0196-4399

Journal of Biotechnology
The Journal of Biotechnology (J. Biotech.) offers publication for both full-length articles and short communications on a wide range of biotechnology-relate... topics. Also, review articles can be submitted if they are pre-approved by one of the editors. The journal will only accept submissions with novel scientific research results that are directly relevant to biotechnological systems and/or applications (for details, please see the list below). J. Biotech. has strict rules about plagiarism. Any submission that includes parts of already published material will be rejected. This includes any attempt to re-publish already published Materials and Methods paragraphs. The journal features a "one-pass review process," i.e., eligible submissions will be reviewed, and those that need improvements (either minor or major) can be resubmitted only once before the decision about whether to accept or reject is decided by the Chief Editor. All figures need to be submitted as high-resolution files during the initial submission. All articles must be written in English, and the quality of the English language will be one of the criteria during the review process.Main Scope of the Journal:Bioprocess engineeringSystem biology, synthetic microbiologyMetaboli... engineering, microbial physiologyBiorefiner... biomass engineeringBiochemic... enzyme/protein engineeringMetabolic engineeringMicrobial expression systemsBiocatalyst engineeringInsect cell-based modelsMultienzyme cascade reactionsPlant-based biotechnologyOutside of the Scope:Manuscripts lacking noveltyReview articles submitted without previous invitation/confirmat... by an editorEnvironmental-... subjects, e.g., waste-water treatment, bioremediation, biodegradationReport... on the cloning and/or expression of naturally occurring enzymes without direct biotechnological applicationResearch on natural products without biotechnological modificationToxicolo... researchPharmacologi... researchFood science-related research without biotechnological applicationEngineeri... articles that do not deal with the direct improvement of biotechnological processesGenome research, especially genome sequencing reportsBenefits to authors We also provide many author benefits, such as free PDFs, a liberal copyright policy, special discounts on Elsevier publications and much more.
