The journal of the European Association for Research on Learning and Instruction (EARLI)Learning in Context offers opportunities to disseminate relevant research on teaching and on learning, as evidenced through the experiences and perspectives of key actors and participants. We welcome studies originating from contexts across the lifecourse, ranging from formal school settings, higher education, workplace settings, and informal learning situations. The emphasis is on situated accounts of individual, institutional, cultural, and societal dimensions of learning. This may address the processes of teaching and learning, and in particular, the relations, dynamics and temporality in such processes.The journal welcomes studies which report empirical research and theoretical analyses, including those adopting interdisciplinary frameworks. The journal creates space for dissemination of high-quality studies on learning and teaching that employ qualitative approaches (narrative, interaction, discursive analyses, phenomenography, grounded theory, case studies, design-based research; formative interventions etc.) and mixed method studies.Before submitting an article to Learning in Context, please check that your article is in line with the Aims and Scope. Articles may be up to 10,000 words (excluding references and appendices) to allow for the greater number of words required to report qualitative research with rigour. However, we do also expect authors to write succinctly. Please also read the Learning in Context Guiding Principles for Qualitative Research. We recognise the diversity of ways of researching using qualitative research methods but feel these principles reflect a common set of expectations which maintain the integrity and rigour of research reporting. Each article must be accompanied by a CRediT statement, using the guidance here. Learning, Culture and Social Interaction

Affiliated with EARLI and ISCARMuch of the most important learning happens through social interaction. Learning, Culture and Social Interaction is an international journal devoted to the publication of high-quality research on learning within, and through, social practices. Its particular focus is on understanding how learning and development are embedded in social and cultural activities, and how individuals and collective practices are transformed through learning.Such understanding requires a careful analysis of learning in social context, and of the communicative processes involved. In-depth studies of interaction in schools (in various subjects and settings), universities, work-places, voluntary organizations, public agencies, hospitals, laboratories and other institutional settings will be welcome, as well as studies of informal settings such as everyday conversations, play settings, youth clubs, games and other cultural practices. Longitudinal studies of learning trajectories are relevant as are analyses of contexts and interactional patterns that hinder learning. The important point is that the relationships between cultures, social interaction and learners (and teachers) are in focus.The term 'interaction' includes forms of communication which take place through technologies of various kinds (telephone, the Internet, presentation technologies and so on). Interaction between people and artefacts, insofar as they address learning, are also relevant. Thus, the focus is not exclusively on face-to-face interaction. Also, issues of collective forms of learning characterizing systematic change, institutional development and communities of practice are central for the journal.The journal is multidisciplinary and invites scholars from relevant disciplines including psychology, anthropology, linguistics, sociology, communication studies and all areas of educational research. Data may come from ethnographies, experimental approaches, intervention studies, case studies, interviews, questionnaires, self-reports, cross-cultural comparisons, archives etc. Articles of different kinds will be welcome: reports of empirical research, theoretically orientated analyses, contributions to method, literature reviews, meta-analyses of research etc. There will be no restrictions when it comes to age levels or social settings. A strong expectation will be that authors write clearly and accessibly for an international and multidisciplinary audience.

Marine Policy

Marine Policy is the leading journal of ocean policy studies. Submissions to Marine Policy must contribute to the formulation and understanding of marine policy, and must be of interest to a broad audience of academics, stakeholders and officials. Marine Policy offers researchers, analysts, stakeholders and policy-makers a unique combination of analyses in the principal social science disciplines relevant to the formulation of marine policy. Articles represent perspectives from fields such as marine affairs, marine economics and resource management, political science, marine science, human ecology, international law, geography, normative theory, anthropology and similar disciplines. Focal areas include, but are not limited to: international, regional and national marine policies; institutional arrangements for the management and regulation of marine activities; conflict resolution; marine pollution and environment; conservation and use of marine resources.We are not a technical journal and will recommend that overly-technical papers are transferred to other more relevant journals. We will consider policy papers that do include a technical analysis, but only if this directly informs a policy analysis or discussion. We request that authors minimise the inclusion of formulas and model details needed to explain the methods and analysis in the main text. Detailed formulae and calculations should be included in an appendix or supplementary materials, and summarised in the main text.Submissions to Marine Policy must include a cover letter that briefly describes the background for the paper and its significance for marine policy formulation and understanding. The cover letter should also note any related work that may be publicly available, such as a Doctoral or Masters thesis, institutional report, etc, so as to avoid any misunderstandings regarding plagiarism. The cover letter should also note any ethics processes and considerations if your study included field research, human research (i.e interviews, quantitative or qualitative surveys, ethnographic observations etc) or animal research.The submission must include an abstract of approximately 250 words that is self-contained and readable on its own. The abstract should describe the key content areas, the purpose of the research, its relevance or importance for policy formulation and understanding, the methodology, and the main outcomes. Abstracts should also include the key terms that a potential researcher may use to search. Abstracts allow editors, reviewers and readers to assess whether the paper is relevant to their purpose, and are important to search engines.Regular features of Marine Policy include research reports, conference reports and reports on current developments to keep readers up-to-date with the latest developments and research in ocean affairs.
