Marine Geology
Marine Geology is the journal on marine geological processes in the broadest sense. It seeks papers that are comprehensive, interdisciplinary and synthetic that will be lasting contributions to the field. Papers must demonstrate new findings and their context and significance discussed in terms of the international literature.Marine Geology accepts papers on subjects as diverse as seafloor hydrothermal systems, beach dynamics, early diagenesis, microbiological studies in sediments, palaeoclimate studies and geophysical studies of the seabed. Papers that address emerging new fields, for example the influence of anthropogenic processes on coastal and marine geology are particularly welcomed.The papers should be concerned with the coastal and marine realm in the broad sense and should deal with rocks, sediments, landforms (sedimentology, geomorphology, geoarchaeology, geochemistry), the physical and chemical and biological processes affecting them, and the characteristics and evolution of the processes/mechanisms as revealed by sedimentary archives.Papers should address scientific hypotheses: data compilations, including 'big data' and datasets of global significance, and papers that deal with marine management and risk assessment, sustainability issues, and hydrocarbon reservoir characterisation may be submitted to the journal on the condition that they demonstrate a close and clear relationship between these issues and coastal/marine geological processes and deposits. Papers on laboratory or modelling studies must demonstrate direct relevance to marine processes or deposits. Papers dealing with coastal deposits now on land may be accepted on condition that these deposits show continuity with, and their interpretation is relevant to, coastal and marine processes. Papers dealing with continental deposits that do not correspond to these criteria and must be submitted to other journals. Progress in Solid State Chemistry
Progress in Solid State Chemistry presents a chemical view of the solid state by providing up-to-date critical reviews written by acknowledged authorities in the field. It also publishes surveys of research progress and specialized articles devoted to summarizing particular recent developments. The aim is to address the need brought about by the literature on the chemistry of the solid state being widely dispersed, making it difficult to obtain a broad and unified assessment of the present state of knowledge. Special emphasis is given to relating physical properties and structural chemistry. Whereas structural chemistry at one time was concerned mostly with perfect solids, most activity focused upon understanding of solid properties focuses on imperfections. Entities such as vacancies, dislocations, and positive holes, which have no independent existence outside the solid itself, are of prime importance in modern solid state chemistry.The reviews published in Progress in Solid State Chemistry emphasize critical evaluation of the field, along with indications of current problems and future directions. Papers are not intended to be bibliographic in nature but rather to inform a broad range of readers in an inherently multidisciplinary field by providing expert treatises oriented both towards specialists in different areas of the solid state and towards nonspecialists. An International Journal Devoted to Catalytic Science and its ApplicationsApplied Catalysis A: General publishes original papers and reviews on all aspects of catalysis of basic and practical interest to chemical scientists in both industrial and academic fields. Papers that focus on advances in catalysis science, especially those that have potential practical implications, by exploring new concepts or new approaches to catalytic processes and materials resulting in new understanding of catalytic phenomena are most welcome.Papers that do not focus on catalytic phenomena and those that report results of a thorough study or optimization of systems or processes that are well understood, widely studied, or minor variations of known ones are strongly discouraged. In their submission, authors are required to include a "Justification for Publication" section comprising a statement detailing the fit of the manuscript to the scope of the journal. Submissions made without the inclusion of such a justification will be rejected without review.When preparing an article for submission, it is important that the authors describe their work succinctly in the context of any related published work emphasizing the novel contributions made. JMR (Journal of Magnetic Resonance) presents original technical and scientific papers in all aspects of magnetic resonance, including nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR) of solids and liquids, electron spin/paramagnetic resonance (EPR), in vivo magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and spectroscopy (MRS), nuclear quadrupole resonance (NQR) and magnetic resonance phenomena at nearly zero fields or in combination with optics. JMR's main aims include deepening the physical principles underlying all these spectroscopies, publishing significant theoretical and experimental results leading to spectral and spatial progress in these areas, and opening new MR-based applications in chemistry, biology and medicine. JMR also seeks descriptions of novel apparatuses, new experimental protocols, and new procedures of data analysis and interpretation - including computational and quantum-mechanical methods - capable of advancing MR spectroscopy and imaging.With a solid track record spanning over four decades, JMR is known for introducing high-quality, breakthrough articles. These have been seminal to the current state-of-the-art achieved by NMR, ESR, MRI and NQR, and it is a tradition we aim to preserve and enlarge. As the use of geotextile fabrics has expanded there has been the introduction of geotextile composites and the development of products such as geogrids and meshes. Overall these materials are referred to as geotextiles and related products. All have a wide range of applications and are currently used to advantage in many civil engineering applications including roads, airfields, railroads, embankments, retaining structures, reservoirs, canals, dams, bank protection and coastal engineering.Geomembr... are impermeable membranes used widely as cut-offs and liners. Until recent years, geomembranes were used mostly as canal and pond liners; however, one of the largest current applications is to the containment of hazardous or municipal wastes and their leachates. In many of these applications geomembranes are employed with geotextile or mesh underliners which reinforce or protect the more flexible geomembrane whilst also acting as an escape route for gases and leachates generated in certain wastes.The range of products and their applications has expanded rapidly over the last decade with geotextiles and geomembranes being specified world wide. This rapid growth is paralleled by a virtual explosion of technology. Current reference books and even manufacturers' sponsored publications tend to date very quickly and the need for a vehicle to bring together and discuss the growing body of technology now available has become evident.Geotextiles and Geomembranes fills this need and provides a forum for the dissemination of information amongst research workers, designers, users and manufacturers. By providing a growing fund of information the journal increases general awareness, prompts further research and assists in the establishment of international codes and regulations.Types of Contribution: Refereed technical papers covering research, design, construction, applications and case studies; technical notes, professional practice papers, book reviews, reports of conferences and meetings, and letters to the Editor.
