Biophysical Chemistry
An International Journal devoted to the Physics and Chemistry of Biological PhenomenaBiophysical Chemistry publishes original work and reviews in the areas of chemistry and physics directly impacting biological phenomena. Quantitative analysis of the properties of biological macromolecules, biologically active molecules, macromolecular assemblies and cell components in terms of kinetics, thermodynamics, spatio-temporal organization, NMR and X-ray structural biology, as well as single-molecule detection represent a major focus of the journal. Theoretical and computational treatments of biomacromolecular systems, macromolecular interactions, regulatory control and systems biology are also of interest to the journal.The journal publishes Regular Articles, Reviews, Short Communications (maximum of 4 printed pages), Discussion and Feature Articles. Feature Articles are normally by Editor's invitation only, but interested authors can contact the Editors before submission. Author(s) will be asked to focus on her/his recent research contributions, thereby adding a personal perspective to their field of research. These short reviews will include the authors' photo and a brief bio/CV and will have a page limit of 5 printed pages in print.Manuscripts that fall outside the scopes and interests of the journal are returned to the Authors without in-depth review. Relevant manuscripts are reviewed expeditiously with decisions generally made within 3 weeks from receipt. Short Communications are 6 printed pages maximum, reporting results of unusual timeliness and significance. Letters are short articles (6 printed pages maximum) reporting results of unusual timeliness and significance. Decisions on Short Communications are made within 1-2 weeks from receipt and publication is offered only to manuscripts requiring minor revision. Journal of Luminescence is an interdisciplinary journal of research on the excited state processes on condensed matter. The journal provides a means of communication between scientists in different disciplines who share a common interest in the electronic excited states of molecular, ionic and covalent systems, whether crystalline, amorphous, or liquid. Submissions in the traditional areas of optical spectroscopy (absorption, magnetic circular dichroism, luminescence, Raman scattering, radiative & non-radiative relaxation) are welcome. Pharmacokinetic studies will only be considered if they have a focus on novel analytical method development and/or offer new profiles of a drug(s) and its metabolite(s) or new understandings of the mechanisms in drug disposition or response of existing drugs. Papers dealing with the analytical aspects of traditional folk medicines are acceptable if they have a focus on innovative analytical approaches; regional differences in the content of traditional folk medicine will not be considered. Research involving either animal or human subjects (including the collection and use of biological samples) must have appropriate ethical approval and provide the name of the approving committee, institution, ethics approval number and informed consent from human participants (and guardians), as well as a confirmation that the study complies with all regulations.
