Methods
Methods publishes original review and research articles that cover emerging methodology in many areas of life and health sciences. Computational, AI, and machine learning approaches should uncover novel biological insights and must be experimentally validated. Purely theoretical studies or computational work with minimal experimental support are outside the journal’s scope. Methods remains a key resource for advancing innovative, experimentally driven scientific techniques. Review articles are also considered for publication in Methods, and all review manuscripts must accompany 1) a summary of previous reviews on relevant topics and 2) a statement of the timely needs of the review, significant contributions and new insights offered by the submission, and experts’ opinions and perspectives in a new and innovative point of view. These must be provided in the “Highlights” page as well as in the opening section of the manuscript itself. Lacking these components will lead to an administrative rejection of the submission.Methods especially welcomes contributions from Guest Editors or authors who are underrepresented in regard to gender, career stage, or geographical location and contributions focused on underrecognized areas of research.There are several types of issues published by Methods:Thematic issues are organized by a Guest Editor who is a recognized expert in the research area. The Guest Editor may have co-Guest Editors. The issues consist solely of invited review articles or original research articles of high quality by authors with expertise in the field. Issues are devoted to specific methods or a variety of methods to investigate a particular research question, with emphasis on clear descriptions of recent advances. Background information is provided in the articles to further an understanding of the principles underlying the methods. Other sections of the articles include key protocols, comparisons of alternative methods, the advantages and disadvantages of particular methods, guidance on avoiding potential pitfalls, and suggestions for troubleshooting.Geog... institutional/organi... and event issues publish articles that cover advances in research methods at universities, research institutes, and scientific societies in a particular geographical region, by a notable institution and society anywhere worldwide, or at a conference of significant interest. These issues are organized by a Guest Editor (sometimes with co-Guest Editors) who is a research leader in the geographical region, at the institution/society, or involved with the event. As in the thematic issues, the articles in these issues consist of concise overviews of methodology, comparisons of alternative methods with advantages and limitations, research questions to give further consideration, and perspectives.Editor'... Molecular Aspects of Medicine is a review journal for Physicians and Biomedical Scientists and an official journal of the International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. The Journal of Biotechnology (J. Biotech.) offers publication for both full-length articles and short communications on a wide range of biotechnology-relate... topics. Also, review articles can be submitted if they are pre-approved by one of the editors. The journal will only accept submissions with novel scientific research results that are directly relevant to biotechnological systems and/or applications (for details, please see the list below). J. Biotech. has strict rules about plagiarism. Any submission that includes parts of already published material will be rejected. An International Journal of experimental, clinical and theoretical research on language and the brain.The Journal of Neurolinguistics is an international forum for the integration of the neurosciences and language sciences. JNL provides for rapid publication of novel, peer-reviewed research into the interaction between language, communication and brain processes. The focus is on rigorous studies of an empirical or theoretical nature and which make an original contribution to our knowledge about the involvement of the nervous system in communication and its breakdowns. Contributions from neurology, communication disorders, linguistics, neuropsychology and cognitive science in general are welcome. Published articles will typically address issues relating some aspect of language or speech function to its neurological substrates with clear theoretical import. Interdisciplinary work on any aspect of the biological foundations of language and its disorders resulting from brain damage is encouraged. Studies of normal subjects, with clear reference to brain functions, are appropriate. Group-studies on well defined samples and case studies with well documented lesion or nervous system dysfunction are acceptable. The journal is open to empirical reports and review articles.
