Journals in Microbiology and virology

Elsevier's Microbiology & Virology collection provides comprehensive coverage of viruses and microorganisms, addressing their impact on human, animal, and plant health. It includes topics such as prevention, treatment, and research of viral diseases like coronaviruses, flaviviruses, and viral hemorrhagic fevers. The collection delves into fields like Bacteriology, Mycology, and Microbial genetics, focusing on their roles in environmental, agricultural, and health-related contexts. This resource serves as a vital tool for scientists, facilitating the study of viruses and microorganisms and enabling the development of effective strategies for infectious disease prevention, diagnosis, and control.

  • Microbial Pathogenesis

    • ISSN: 0882-4010
Microbial Pathogenesis publishes original contributions and reviews about the molecular and cellular mechanisms of infectious diseases. It covers microbiology, host-pathogen interaction and immunology related to infectious agents, including bacteria, fungi, viruses and protozoa. It also accepts papers in the field of clinical microbiology, with the exception of case reports.Research Areas Include:Pathogenesis... factorsHost susceptibility or resistanceImmune mechanismsIdentifica... cloning and sequencing of relevant genesGenetic studiesViruses, prokaryotic organisms and protozoaMicrobiotaSy... biology related to infectious diseasesTargets for vaccine design (pre-clinical studies)The journal aims for rapid publication of articles of high quality and significance in an international forum. Please note that reviews are only accepted upon editorial invitation.Short Communications have the following limits. The manuscript should ideally contain no more than 4-6 Figures/Tables and 4000 words, including the title page, all sections of the manuscript (including the references), and Figure/Table legends. The abstract should be limited to 200 words.Microbial Pathogenesis does not accept submissions that primarily consist of (a) bioinformatics or computational analysis of public genomic or transcriptomic databases, or (b) the testing and evaluation of previously uncharacterized natural product-based drug candidates. The journal does not publish purely bioinformatic or computational studies without substantial experimental validation. Please be aware that experimental validation is a mandatory requirement for all submissions.
  • Marine Genomics

    • ISSN: 1874-7787
The journal Marine Genomics publishes papers on all functional and evolutionary aspects of genes, chromatin, chromosomes and (meta)genomes of marine (and freshwater) organisms. It deals with new genome-enabled insights into the broader framework of environmental science. Topics within the scope of this journal include: Population genomics and ecology Evolutionary and developmental genomics Comparative genomics Metagenomics Environmental genomics Systems biologyMore specific topics include: geographic and phylogenomic characterization of aquatic organisms, metabolic capacities and pathways of organisms and communities, biogeochemical cycles, genomics and integrative approaches applied to microbial ecology including (meta)transcriptomic... and (meta)proteomics, tracking of infectious diseases, environmental stress, global climate change and ecosystem modelling.
  • Clinical Microbiology and Infection

    • ISSN: 1198-743X
Clinical Microbiology and Infection (CMI) is a monthly publication in English of the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases and publishes peer-reviewed papers that present basic and applied research relevant to therapy and diagnostics in the fields of microbiology, infectious diseases, virology, parasitology, immunology and epidemiology as related to these fields. The journal also publishes theme issues, editorials, commentaries, and reviews, as well as guidelines originating from European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases study groups. The journal was established in 1995. It is the official journal of the  European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases and published by Elsevier.  Please see CMI Editorial Policies for further details.
