African Transport Studies (AFTRAN) is a refereed international journal. It is the official journal of the Society for African Transport Research. AFTRAN aims at providing useful insights into solving Africa-specific transport-related issues from both theoretical and practical perspectives. It covers all transport modes and all issues in the transport sector.The journal favours papers that report on empirical research findings or engage in critical reflection on transport policies and practices in Africa. Purely literature review papers will only be considered with prior approval of the Editor-in-Chief, and will normally be invited by the AFTRAN editorship.Types of papers:Research papers:Papers reporting original research are the lifeblood of the journal. They should engage with, and build, the prevailing body of literature, and should report research aims, methods, results, and discussion. Research papers should normally be no longer that 8 000 words.Reponses and rejoinders:Discussion on published research papers, and subsequent rejoinders from the authors, are welcome. Responses and rejoinders should normally be no longer than 1 500 words.Case study papers:Case study papers are research papers that focus on a particular geographical context, often profiling the transport system of an African city or country. Case study papers should normally be no longer that 8 000 words.Editorials:Special issue collections of papers should be preceded by editorials, which signal the importance of the special issue theme and how it advances current debates in the field. Editorials should normally be no longer than 2 000 words.Technical notes:Technical notes will often discuss a single methodological issue of particular importance to the African context. The method described may either be novel, or may offer an improvement on an existing method. Technical notes should normally be no longer that 2 000 words.The Society for African Transport Research is an international cooperative society of researchers and practitioners who are either based in Africa or focus their research there. Its primary objectives are to foster and support excellence in transportation research and practice and to stimulate professional interchanges in all aspects and modes of transportation. It organizes an international conference on transportation research every two years.

A Social Sciences JournalAnnals of Tourism Research is a social sciences journal focusing upon academic perspectives on tourism. For the purposes of determining areas of interest, tourism is defined as a global economic activity comprising travel behaviour, the management and marketing activities of service industries that arise to meet consumer demand, the effects of tourism activities on communities and policy and governance at local, national and international levels. While striving for a balance of theory and application, Annals is ultimately dedicated to developing theoretical constructs that span business and the social and behavioural sciences. Climate – Sustainability – ResilienceCity and Environment Interactions is an international and interdisciplinary rapid open access forum focusing on the interactions between cities and related environmental and climatic pressures. The outcome-related research we publish should tackle the challenges that densely-populated cities (and their wider regions) face in a changing world, as increasing populations live in conurbations.We welcome full research papers, review articles, and are also keen to consider short communications that present original material for rapid dissemination. Short Communication should also focus on a specific aspect of a problem. One example would be a new finding that is expected to have a significant impact. In addition, we invite Short Communications that combine, interpret and communicate knowledge from diverse scientific disciplines to policymakers and wider stakeholders. Specific cases of Co-production of research would fall into this category.Invited Viewpoint: To add to the Original Research submitted, the Journal will also publish Invited Viewpoints; articles written by experts to assess and curate the vast amount of research undertaken globally in this field. Digital Geography and Society (DG&S) is an open access journal publishing interdisciplinary work that critically examines the social and spatial contexts of our digital present, past and futures. The primary aim of the journal is to champion work across the social sciences and humanities that questions and reveals how digital technologies shape and are shaped by people and places. Central to that aim is the principal scope of geographies, taken in the broadest terms as the ongoing concern for negotiations of space and place.As the foremost journal focused on digital geographies, DG&S is dedicated to publishing any and all high-quality research that investigates how the spaces and places of our societies shape and are shaped by digital technologies. There is no assertion or presumption of what constitutes ‘digital geography’ for DG&S, instead we invite critical and generous, ongoing, debate negotiating the geographies of, through and with the digital (following Ash et al.), agnostic of discipline. Our aim, in other words, is to foster and promote a route for advancing digital geographies scholarship and enhance their breadth, depth and diversity.DG&S is a digital-only journal with an ambition to publish traditional journal articles and a variety of multimedia, video and audio content. We have dedicated sections for full-length research articles as well as opinion pieces, case studies & reviews. Core to our mission is the championing of ‘Early Career’ research in digital geographies and we have a dedicated section promoting ‘New Voices’.
