Analytic Methods in Accident Research
Analytic Methods in Accident Research publishes manuscripts that deal with the development and/or application of innovative statistical and econometric methods to the study of vehicle crashes and other transportation and non-transportation-r... accidents. The intent of the journal is to demonstrate how such innovative methodological approaches can be used to provide new insights and quantification of the factors that affect the frequency and severity of accidents - thus providing new guidance for the implementation of appropriate countermeasures. While the focus of the journal is on the underlying analytic approach, acceptable application areas include all elements of transportation safety (road, pedestrian, air, rail, and water safety), construction safety, and any area of study where the unintended consequences of human behavior, machine failures or system failures result in property damage and/or bodily injury.- ISSN: 0005-1098

To ensure fairness and objectivity, double-blind reviewing will be used.Replication studies The IJF encourages replication studies, especially of highly cited papers. See Encouraging replication and reproducible research (an editorial published in 2010) for further information. A replication study that confirms that a published paper can be successfully replicated would normally be quite short (about a page is often sufficient to describe what calculations and comparisons have been done). Where a previously published paper has not been successfully replicated, more details are required to explain how the results differ from those previously published.- ISSN: 2210-9706

Planning Sciences is an international journal devoted exclusively to research in this important, but under-represented area. It provides a medium for research that might not appear in more specialized journals, either because of the interdisciplinary or applied character of the study, or the mathematical/quantit... nature of the research. The journal thus serves as a focus for investigations that have hitherto appeared in widely-scattered sources and/or less-than-appropriat... sources.Socio-Econom... Planning Sciences strongly encourages contributions dealing with applications of quantitative models and techniques to important decision problems in the service and public sectors. Of particular interest are accounts of such studies carried out in developing countries and economically emerging regions of the world. Review articles in important methodological and substantive areas are also of interest. The principal criterion used in evaluating a manuscript submitted to the journal is: uniqueness or innovation of the work in terms of the methodology being developed, and/or its application to a problem of particular importance in the public or service sector and/or the setting within which the effort is being made, e.g. an emerging region of the world. That is to say, of the model/methodology itself, the application, and the problem context, at least one of these must be unique and important.Additional criteria considered in reviewing a submitted paper are its accuracy, the organization/present... (i.e. logical flow), and writing quality.Representati... of the topic areas included in the journal are the following:Studies directed toward the more effective utilization of existing resources, e.g. mathematical programming models of health care delivery systems with relevance to more effective program design; systems analysis of fire outbreaks and its relevance to the location of fire stations; statistical analysis of the efficiency of a developing country economy or industry.Studies relating to the interaction of various segments of society and technology, e.g. the effects of government health policies on the utilization and design of hospital facilities; the relationship between housing density and the demands on public transportation or other service facilities: patterns and implications of urban development and air or water pollution.Studies devoted to the anticipations of and response to future needs for social, health and other human services, e.g. the relationship between industrial growth and the development of educational resources in affected areas; investigation of future demands for material and child health resources in a developing country; design of effective recycling in an urban setting.- ISSN: 0304-4149

Swarm and Evolutionary Computation
Introduction: To tackle complex real world problems, scientists have been looking into natural processes and creatures - both as model and metaphor - for years. Optimization is at the heart of many natural processes including Darwinian evolution, social group behavior and foraging strategies. Over the last few decades, there has been remarkable growth in the field of nature-inspired search and optimization algorithms. Currently these techniques are applied to a variety of problems, ranging from scientific research to industry and commerce. The two main families of algorithms that primarily constitute this field today are the evolutionary computing methods and the swarm intelligence algorithms. Although both families of algorithms are generally dedicated towards solving search and optimization problems, they are certainly not equivalent, and each has its own distinguishing features. Reinforcing each other's performance makes powerful hybrid algorithms capable of solving many intractable search and optimization problems.About the journal: Swarm and Evolutionary Computation is the first peer-reviewed publication of its kind that aims at reporting the most recent research and developments in the area of nature-inspired intelligent computation based on the principles of swarm and evolutionary algorithms. It publishes advanced, innovative and interdisciplinary research involving the theoretical, experimental and practical aspects of the two paradigms and their hybridizations. Swarm and Evolutionary Computation is committed to timely publication of very high-quality, peer-reviewed, original articles that advance the state-of-the art of all aspects of evolutionary computation and swarm intelligence. Survey papers reviewing the state-of-the-art of timely topics will also be welcomed as well as novel and interesting applications.Topics of Interest: Topics of interest include but are not limited to: Genetic Algorithms, and Genetic Programming, Evolution Strategies, and Evolutionary Programming, Differential Evolution, Artificial Immune Systems, Particle Swarms, Ant Colony, Bacterial Foraging, Artificial Bees, Fireflies Algorithm, Harmony Search, Artificial Life, Digital Organisms, Estimation of Distribution Algorithms, Stochastic Diffusion Search, Quantum Computing, Nano Computing, Membrane Computing, Human-centric Computing, Hybridization of Algorithms, Memetic Computing, Autonomic Computing, Self-organizing systems, Combinatorial, Discrete, Binary, Constrained, Multi-objective, Multi-modal, Dynamic, and Large-scale Optimization.Applica...
