  • Computers & Structures

    • ISSN: 0045-7949
Solids • Structures • Fluids • MultiphysicsComputer... & Structures publishes advances in the development and use of computational methods for the solution of problems in engineering and the sciences. The range of appropriate contributions is wide, and includes papers on establishing appropriate mathematical models and their numerical solution in all areas of mechanics. The journal also includes articles that present a substantial review of a field in the topics of the journal. With the modern use of computers and numerical methods to model and solve problems, the traditional boundaries between the fields of solid/structural mechanics and fluid mechanics hardly exist any longer, and multiphysics problems are solved that involve all aspects of mechanics. The word 'structures' must therefore now be interpreted in a broad sense including solids, fluids and multiphysics.Compute... & Structures publishes papers in these fields that either present novel and quite general techniques, or offer substantial new insights into important methods. If a paper presents novel techniques, some comparison with known advanced methods is necessary. If a paper is to provide substantial new insights into advanced methods, then this can be achieved by strong numerical experiments, some mathematical analysis, and/or comparisons with well-designed physical test data. In either case, the paper must contribute to advancing the state of the art.The focus of Computers & Structures is on having an impact on the practice of simulations in mechanics as found in many industries and research endeavours, including the fields of engineering, such as civil and environmental, mechanical, biomechanical, automotive, aeronautical, and ocean engineering, and including the various fields of the sciences. In these areas, papers are sought on the automatic solution of mathematical models of 'structures' in the broadest sense, possibly including phenomena of multiphysics, multiscale, and uncertainties. Also, papers presenting algorithms for optimization and the simulation of complete life cycles of systems are sought.Established in 1971, and with online submission and review launched in 2006, Computers & Structures is indispensable for researchers and practitioners in academic, governmental and industrial communities.Related Conferences: can be accessed via the links on the right menu bar, under Related websites.

  • Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials

    • ISSN: 0304-8853
The Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials provides an important forum for the disclosure and discussion of original contributions covering the whole spectrum of topics, from basic magnetism to the technology and applications of magnetic materials. The journal encourages greater interaction between the basic and applied sub-disciplines of magnetism with comprehensive review articles, in addition to full-length contributions. In addition, other categories of contributions are welcomed, including Critical Focused issues, Current Perspectives, and Outreach to the General Public.Main Categories: Full-length articles: Technically original research documents that report results of value to the communities that comprise the journal audience. The link between chemical, structural and microstructural properties on the one hand and magnetic properties on the other hand are encouraged. In addition to general topics covering all areas of magnetism and magnetic materials, the full-length articles also include three sub-sections, focusing on Nanomagnetism, Spintronics and Applications. The sub-section on Nanomagnetism contains articles on magnetic nanoparticles, nanowires, thin films, 2D materials and other nanoscale magnetic materials and their applications. The sub-section on Spintronics contains articles on magnetoresistance, magnetoimpedance, magneto-optical phenomena, Micro-Electro-Mechan... Systems (MEMS), and other topics related to spin current control and magneto-transport phenomena. The sub-section on Applications display papers that focus on applications of magnetic materials. The applications need to show a connection to magnetism.Review articles: Review articles organize, clarify, and summarize existing major works in the areas covered by the Journal and provide comprehensive citations to the full spectrum of relevant literature.Other Categories: Critical Focused Issues - consist of single articles on emerging topics of interest. Articles in this category identify problems of current interest that need to be addressed in the future in order to advance an emerging subfield of magnetism. By identifying such open issues, they focus the interest of the community to the challenges ahead. Thus, unlike review articles, this category will aim more on the future and what needs to be explored, rather than on what has been explored in the past. Of course, the articles include a review aspect in order to identify the open issues and put them into perspective. The articles need not be long, exhaustive or comprehensive. They provide the vision of the authors, who are recognized experts in the field. Readers utilize these articles to focus their thinking on future endeavors. These articles should also help to generate proposals to funding agencies worldwide. Current Perspectives - Current Perspectives consists of clusters of articles on emerging topics of interest. The articles have guest editors who formulate and manage the intellectual scope of the project. A cluster is composed of authors who represent their own perspective and who possess diverse opinions on facets of the topic. A cluster, in its totality, provides a balanced point of view, while each individual article is free to be discriminating. The articles within a cluster have invited status, the articles are typically of short-to-medium length, and the reference lists must be adequate but not necessarily extensive. The clusters are expected to focus not only on what is known, but also on what the open questions are that need to be addressed in the future. The articles should be written at a level that inspires the next generation of graduate students. The guest editors typically provide an overview article to tie the cluster together thematically. Outreach to the General Public - These are articles of a general nature that highlight the importance of magnetism and stimulate the interest of the public at large. A heightened awareness of magnetism is healthy for our field. Experts who have given public lectures will be encouraged to submit their work in order for them to reach a larger community. It will also help our readers in their own communications with the public. These articles need not be long, exhaustive or comprehensive. They provide the vision of the authors. Providing the public with the importance of magnetism and magnetic materials at a level that can be understood and appreciated will be a public service. It will also inspire a new generation of students, have a positive influence on science policy, and strengthen the case of our community in the eyes of funding agencies worldwide.

  • Microchemical Journal

    • ISSN: 0026-265X
Microchemical Journal is a rigorous, yet supportive peer-reviewed journal covering all aspects and phases of Analytical Chemistry, including sampling, sample pre-treatment, measurement and data analysis. The Microchemical Journal publishes articles which are at the forefront of modern analytical chemistry and cover innovations in the techniques to the finest possible limits. This includes Fundamental Aspects, Instrumentation, Mass Spectrometry, Chromatography and Electrophoresis Separations, Microscale and Nanoscale Systems, Omics (Proteomics and Metabolomics), Sensors and Sensing (Single-molecule sensors, Microfluidic systems, Biosensors), Chemometrics, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence and Imaging, and original applications concerning clinical, environmental, industrial, food, forensic, and heritage fields.Electroanalyt... and optical sensors, separation methods, spectroscopy, electroanalytical methods and all new procedures for inorganic, organic, biochemical molecules and micro-organisms detection and quantification are welcome. However, manuscripts must provide significant improvements and novelty compared to the established methods. The journal does not consider routine analytical method applications in such areas as classical and new materials characterization, pharmaceutical, model environmental pollutant (e.g. dye and antibiotic detection and degradation), and industrial quality control. Routine, incremental studies without innovative analytical chemical methodologies (e.g. different reagents but no new analytical approaches or detection problems), superficial analytical chemistry discussions and analyses, and fragmentation of work are strongly discouraged. In any case, applications to real sample analysis instead of the use of spiked ones are preferred. The journal was established in the late 1950s as a medium devoted to the developing field of microchemistry. As the area of microchemistry has moved into analyses in microgram masses and micro volumes (and lower), low detection limits, and sophisticated and compact instrumentation, the Microchemical Journal has continued to evolve and change with this growing and expanding area, covering nowadays analytical chemical research in its broadest sense, including micro-organisms identification and quantification, miniaturization, automation, the use of nanomaterials and smart materials-based methodologies for sample preparation and analyte determination, and application of AI-based, deep/machine learning chemometrics in its broadest sense, considering also those regarding -omics studies, big data, artificial intelligence and hyperspectral imaging. The journal will publish special issues devoted to hot topics, inviting the most productive and active researchers. Besides full research articles, Critical Review papers, Short Communications, Tutorials and Technical Notes are also considered.
  • Resource and Energy Economics

    • ISSN: 0928-7655
Resource and Energy Economics publishes theoretical and empirical papers, firmly grounded in economic theory, that advance our understanding of and provide novel insights into environmental and natural resource problems and policies broadly defined, as well as analyses of energy use and markets that link resource and environmental issues to energy.Contributions may address any problem involving economic and environmental linkages, including, but not limited to, utilization, conservation and development of the earth's natural resources (renewable and non-renewable, including critical materials); climate change mitigation and adaptation; innovation and the energy transition; pathways to sustainable growth and development; international trade and global environmental problems; non-market valuation methodology and novel applications of valuation techniques; experimental or behavioural economics pertaining to environmental and natural resources; the choice and impact of environmental policy instruments; and economic choices and/or behaviour related to energy and the environment. Also of interest are energy-related papers addressing regional or global pollution as well as the relationships between renewable and non-renewable energy sources and markets.Resource and Energy Economics is an economics journal. Hence, economic analysis is central to all papers that we publish. We are most interested in research that advances the theoretical and/or empirical understanding of natural resource and environmental economics. We do not publish studies that are limited to engineering or cost analyses, empirical analyses that document relationships between variables without identifying the theory or underlying mechanism(s) giving rise to these relationships, or localized studies without broader relevance. Papers limited to the study of prices, markets or finance are not within the scope of the journal unless the topic is linked to natural resource and environmental issues (such as energy efficiency, consumption, externalities, renewables, environmental policy, resource extraction, climate, instrument choice, welfare change, etc.). Papers that are determined by the editors to not be a good fit with the above aims and scope or are deemed to not meet the scientific standards of the journal will be returned without review.
