Atmospheric Environment is the international journal for scientists in different disciplines related to atmospheric composition and its impacts. The journal publishes scientific articles with atmospheric relevance of emissions and depositions of gaseous and particulate compounds, chemical processes and physical effects in the atmosphere, as well as impacts of the changing atmospheric composition on human health, air quality, climate change, and ecosystems. The overarching aim of Atmospheric Environment is to publish original research, reviews, and perspectives that advance the international scientific community's understanding of the composition of the atmosphere. Atmospheric Environment has adopted a broad perspective of the atmosphere to include the background locations in the troposphere and stratosphere, continental and urban locations, as well as indoor environments and microenvironments that expose humans to atmospheric components. The scope of the journal includes natural and anthropogenic sources, transformations, and transport of atmospheric components, as well as the impacts of atmospheric components on global and regional climate, sensitive ecosystems, visibility, and human health. Atmospheric Environment specifically focuses on policy-relevant science that will influence regulations, management and protection of atmospheric resources, protection of ecosystems and human health, and will drive future scientific research efforts that investigate the atmosphere. Additional information about the evolving and expanding scope of Atmospheric Environment is presented below. The editors of Atmospheric Environment will manage the journal to best advance its goals, whilst serving the atmospheric science community through delivery of the most recent high-quality research. Atmospheric Environment encourages submissions describing novel experimental and modeling studies that advance understanding of the composition of the atmosphere and that elucidate sources, transport and transformations, and impacts from atmospheric components. To be considered for publication in Atmospheric Environment, manuscripts should clearly show that the research directly advances the understanding of the composition of the atmosphere. The following manuscripts will NOT be considered for publication: studies of new experimental methods that are neither applied or do not advance the understanding of the composition of the atmosphere, studies that examine emissions from novel atmospheric sources but do not demonstrate how these emissions impact the composition of the atmosphere, studies that examine atmospheric transport but do not directly show how the investigated transport process impact the composition of the atmosphere, computational studies that do not demonstrate the atmospheric relevancy of the computed chemical pathways or intermediate products, and studies that focus on well-established or routine monitoring and modeling methods to investigate air pollution issues of local interest. As research tools continue to advance and broaden the understanding of the impacts of atmospheric components, Atmospheric Environment is currently encouraging additional manuscript submissions in these developing areas: indoor air quality, satellites and remote sensing, human health, the use of real-time or semi-continuous experimental observations of the composition of the atmosphere, and the use of data science to understand sources, transformation, transport, and the impacts of atmospheric components. Please note that studies that utilize novel data science tools that focus on forecasting and do not provide insight into atmospheric sources, processes, and impacts are not suitable for publication in Atmospheric Environment. Atmospheric Environment is open to policy, economic, and environmental justice studies that focus on changes in the composition of the atmosphere but will only consider manuscripts that are appropriately targeted for the readership of Atmospheric Environment. Atmósfera seeks contributions on theoretical, basic, empirical and applied research in the atmospheric sciences, with emphasis on the following: climatology, meteorology and physical and chemical processes in the atmosphere. Contributions are welcomed on original research leading to the characterization and understanding of air-sea interactions as they relate to meteorological phenomena and their influence on climate. Contributions are also accepted on the interactions between the atmosphere and the biosphere as they relate to air quality and climate. Atmósfera publishes articles, short contributions and correspondence in English.

Journal of the Ecological Society of Germany, Austria and Switzerland (Gesellschaft für Ökologie) Basic and Applied Ecology provides a forum in which ecological advances and ideas can be rapidly communicated to a wide audience. Basic and Applied Ecology publishes Reviews, Perspectives and Original Contributions from all areas of ecology, complemented by Invited Views, Comments and Special Issues. Ecologists from all countries are invited to publish ecological research of general ecological and international interest on its pages, as there is no bias with regard to taxon or geographical area. Papers in Basic and Applied Ecology include topical research in areas such as biodiversity and associated functions and services, response to global change across latitudes as well as multitrophic interactions. New project designs and methods are also welcome. The main research areas covered by Basic and Applied Ecology are Conservation Ecology, Applied Ecology, Community and Population Ecology, Landscape and Ecosystem Ecology, and Functional Ecology, but contributions from other fields will also be considered. Basic and Applied Ecology actively solicits papers that strive to integrate the various disciplines and issues within the broad field of ecology. Basic and Applied Ecology published its first volumes in 2000 and is the official journal of the "Gesellschaft fur Okologie", the Ecological Society of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. BioSystems encourages theoretical, computational and experimental articles that link biology, evolutionary concepts, and the information processing sciences. The journal is dedicated to developing the consequences of the discoveries of biological information and of the genetic code - with the view of obtaining a better understanding of the origins and evolution of biological organization, biological adaptability, and the origin of mind and language. The scope of the journal encompasses the fundamental nature of biological information processing. This includes quantum phenomena in information transfer, natural computing, biological coding systems, biological complexity, theoretical biology, artificial life, computational modeling of complex biological systems, evolutionary models of computation, application of biological principles to the design of novel computing systems, and the use of biomolecular materials to synthesize artificial systems that capture essential principles of natural biological information processing. The journal does not publish purely medical, computational, or ecological research, unless it is clearly linked to the basic and conceptual aspects of biological organization. Biochemical Systematics and Ecology

Biochemical Systematics and Ecology is devoted to the publication of original papers and reviews, both submitted and invited, in two subject areas: I) the application of biochemistry to problems relating to systematic biology of organisms (biochemical systematics); II) the role of biochemistry in interactions between organisms or between an organism and its environment (biochemical ecology). In the Biochemical Systematics subject area, comparative studies of the distribution of (secondary) metabolites within a wider taxon (e.g. genus or family) are welcome. Comparative studies, encompassing multiple accessions of each of the taxa within their distribution are particularly encouraged. Welcome are also studies combining classical chemosystematic studies (such as comparative HPLC-MS or GC-MS investigations) with (macro-) molecular phylogenetic studies. Studies that involve the comparative use of compounds to help differentiate among species such as adulterants or substitutes that illustrate the applied use of chemosystematics are welcome. In contrast, studies solely employing macromolecular phylogenetic techniques (gene sequences, RAPD studies etc.) will be considered out of scope. Discouraged are manuscripts that report known or new compounds from a single source taxon without addressing a systematic hypothesis. Also considered out of scope are studies using outdated and hard to reproduce macromolecular techniques such as RAPDs in combination with standard chemosystematic techniques such as GC-FID and GC-MS. In the Biochemical Ecology subject area, studies addressing the role compounds play in the ecology of the organisms producing them are invited. Moreover, manuscripts that address hypothesis associated with the influence of factors such as altitude, geography, and seasonal variation on the expression of primary and secondary metabolites are encouraged. Research papers should generally represent a complete investigation and not preliminary data. Preliminary reports will only be considered where findings are of sufficient interest to justify rapid publication. New Source Reports will only be considered in cases where a significant chemosystematic or ecological finding is reported. New Source Reports have to be written in a standard format (Example).

Aims Biogeotechnics is an interdisciplinary journal that bridges the gap between bioengineering, bionics and earth science engineering, particularly in the areas of bio-mediated design such as biomineralization, soil bioengineering using vegetation and fungi and bio-inspired design in the applications of geotechnical engineering. The journal aims to publish original studies on the experimental and theoretical aspects of bio-mediated and bio-inspired solutions in the geotechnical system, including laboratory and field testing, computational methods, design principles and site investigation. Scope Biogeotechnics focuses on interdisciplinary topics on the application of microbially mediated processes, biomaterials, vegetation, fungi and bio-inspired design methods, in geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineering, rock engineering, pavement engineering, geological engineering, as well as offshore and marine engineering. Topics of interest include numerical and analytical methods in soil and rock mechanics with bio-mediated and bio-inspired solutions and materials; constitutive modelling in bio-mediated soil and rock ; statics and dynamics of interacting structures and foundations with bio-mediated and bio-inspired solutions; liquid and gas flow through geologic bio-reinforced media, contaminant transport and groundwater problems with bio-mitigation; geohazards mitigation in earthquakes, landslides and subsidence; soil/rock improvement with bio-mediated and bio-inspired method; and the development of bio-mediated and bio-inspired models validations using laboratory and field measurements.

Biological Conservation is a leading international journal in the discipline of conservation science. The journal publishes articles spanning a diverse range of fields that contribute to the biological, sociological, ethical and economic dimensions of conservation. The primary aim of Biological Conservation is the publication of high-quality papers that advance the science and practice of conservation, or which demonstrate the application of conservation principles and policy. Biological Conservation invites the submission of research articles, reviews (including systematic reviews and perspectives), short communications, policy perspectives, and letters to the editor dealing with all aspects of conservation science, including theoretical and empirical investigations into the consequences of human actions for the diversity, structure and function of terrestrial, aquatic or marine ecosystems. Such papers may include quantitative assessments of extinction risk, fragmentation effects, spread of invasive organisms, conservation genetics, conservation management, global change effects on biodiversity, landscape or reserve design and management, restoration ecology, or resource economics. We also welcome papers coming from social sciences including those reporting on advances in conservation politics, ethics, policy, human social structure and biodiversity, and political culture among other subjects. Biological Conservation covers interdisciplinary topics within conservation biology and also provides practical applications of conservation research for land/resource managers and policy makers. We publish articles and thematic special issues that have a global relevance in terms of the topics or issues addressed, and thus demonstrate applications of conservation science and management beyond the specific system or species studied. Biological Conservation is an affiliate publication of the Society for Conservation Biology (SCB).
