Computers & Industrial Engineering
Industrial engineering is one of the earliest fields to utilize computers in research, education, and practice. Over the years, computers and electronic communication have become an integral part of industrial engineering. Computers & Industrial Engineering (CAIE) is aimed at an audience of researchers, educators and practitioners of industrial engineering and associated fields. It publishes original contributions on the development of new computerized methodologies for solving industrial engineering problems, as well as the applications of those methodologies to problems of interest in the broad industrial engineering and associated communities. The journal encourages submissions that expand the frontiers of the fundamental theories and concepts underlying industrial engineering techniques.CAIE also serves as a venue for articles evaluating the state-of-the-art of computer applications in various industrial engineering and related topics, and research in the utilization of computers in industrial engineering education. Papers reporting on applications of industrial engineering techniques to real life problems are welcome, as long as they satisfy the criteria of originality in the choice of the problem and the tools utilized to solve it, generality of the approach for applicability to other problems, and significance of the results produced.A major aim of the journal is to foster international exchange of ideas and experiences among scholars and practitioners with shared interests all over the world.- ISSN: 0360-8352

NDT & E International
NDT&E international publishes peer-reviewed original research on non-destructive testing and evaluation (NDT&E) for the assessment of the structural integrity of engineering structures. The journal covers the established NDT&E sensing modalities of ultrasonics, electromagnetics, radiography as well as optical and thermal methods. The journal also covers research on new NDT&E techniques, and novel applications of established methods. In all cases, the focus should be on the physics and engineering science of the inspection method or application. The expectation is that any modelling or simulation is accompanied by experimental evidence. The journal covers all application areas in which NDT&E is used including, mechanical, aerospace and civil structures. Other novel application areas are considered where a close link to either traditional applications or techniques can be shown. Application-focused studies should go beyond being examples of best practice and include clear novel features and have wider implications. Whilst NDT&E most commonly relates to periodic inspections, long-term monitoring scenarios are also considered. The journal considers contributions on novel signal processing and data analysis methods where they can be demonstrated to enhance NDT&E applications. Machine learning is now an accepted tool for the analysis of NDT data. Hence, whilst papers that use machine learning are considered, its use must go beyond best practice and should fundamentally advance the field of NDT. In doing this we would expect the work to include consideration of the physics and engineering science of the inspection problem. The journal publishes a small number of review submissions, typically by invitation, with initial enquiries to the Editor-in Chief.- ISSN: 0963-8695

Computers and Geotechnics
The use of computers is firmly established in geotechnical engineering and continues to grow rapidly in both engineering practice and academe. The development of advanced numerical techniques and constitutive modeling, in conjunction with rapid developments in computer hardware, enables problems to be tackled that were unthinkable even a few years ago. Computers and Geotechnics provides an up-to-date reference for engineers and researchers engaged in computer aided analysis and research in geotechnical engineering. The journal is intended for an expeditious dissemination of advanced computer applications across a broad range of geotechnical topics. Contributions on advances in numerical algorithms, computer implementation of new constitutive models and probabilistic methods are especially encouraged. The application of newly proposed numerical methods and techniques to complex geotechnical engineering problems or to well-documented case studies are of interest. However, submissions that predominantly report results from proprietary codes, describe computer modelling of laboratory tests, field monitoring, or case histories, or develop new design approaches are only welcome if they demonstrate novel user-implemented computational methods. Mining, petroleum, or transportation engineering topics are usually discouraged as they align more closely with other journals. Since the journal is willing to accept longer papers if justified, authors are asked to avoid two-part submissions.Original contributions in the emerging areas of Machine Learning and Data Science are now welcome. Submissions should have a focus on geotechnical engineering problems and should provide either i) advances in foundational algorithms and computational frameworks or ii) innovative applications of physics-informed AI/ML techniques. Research results are sought that leverage the integration of observational data, fundamental physical laws and our domain knowledge in geomechanics and geotechnical engineering to offer new physical insights, uncover hidden intrinsic physical laws, and create new knowledge for both geotechnical researchers and practitioners.- ISSN: 0266-352X

Wear
An International Journal on the Science and Technology of WearWEAR journal is dedicated to the advancement of fundamental and applied knowledge concerning the nature of wear of materials. Broadly, topics of interest range from development of fundamental understanding of the mechanisms of wear to innovative solutions to practical engineering problems. WEAR is seeking high-quality manuscripts with a high degree of novelty and significance. Routine studies or work that resemble slight variations to previous studies will not be considered for WEAR. Authors of experimental studies are expected to comment on the repeatability of the data, and whenever possible, conduct multiple measurements under similar testing conditions. Further, WEAR embraces the highest standards of professional ethics, and the detection of matching content, either in written or graphical form, from other publications will result in rejection.Submission... are invited on such subjects as:(a) Wear modelling and validation. This includes modelling of fundamental mechanisms as well as the modelling of tribosystems. Approaches may employ contact mechanics, frictional considerations and lubrication concepts in the development of the model, and must always include physical validation of the model by experiments. Also, approaches that use machine learning on tribological test data.(b) The development and use of new wear testing methods and standards. This includes the rationale behind their development (including a critique of existing test methodologies where appropriate).(c) New wear diagnostic tools. The need for these tools and examples of their use in either basic research or engineering should be illustrated. In-situ or real time sensing and/or imaging of tribological interfaces including optical image recognition.(d) The development of wear-resistant materials, coatings, or surface treatments. Such papers should include, for example, benchmarking against materials currently employed in targeted engineering applications, or presenting a basic hypothesis underlying the work that can be validated as an advance over the current state-of-the-art. The criteria used to select the test methods employed (and the conditions under which those tests were conducted) must be robustly justified with regard to the longevity of the targeted tribosystems in engineering applications. This includes the current or desired wear rate of such applications in comparison of the wear rates measured by the chosen experimental set-up. The proposed mechanisms of wear must be shown as results and discussed in the context of validated data and observations that support those conclusions.(e) Relationships between the composition, structure, properties, and processing of materials and their wear behavior. Such submissions should include the basic rationale for the work, its foundation in prior knowledge, and how the current approach is implemented to explore these relationships. The criteria used to select the tests or analytical methods employed shall be explained with respect to the purpose of the research, be it fundamental or applied.(f) The role of lubricants or other interfacial species in the wear of materials. Such submissions will focus on the mechanisms of wear in the presence of well-characterized interfacial environments. The Abstracts of all submissions, whether a full paper or a shorter communication, should summarize the purpose and approach to the given problem, indicate the materials under investigation, and present the primary conclusions in a brief and concise manner. Any commercialism or product promotion is unacceptable. Submissions to WEAR will be pre-screened before peer-review based on the novelty statement to assess their archival quality, clarity of communication, and the novelty of their contributions to the science and technology of wear.- ISSN: 0043-1648
