  • Aquacultural Engineering

    • ISSN: 0144-8609
Official journal of the Aquacultural Engineering Society (AES)Aquacultural Engineering is concerned with the design and development of effective aquacultural systems for marine and freshwater facilities. The journal aims to apply the knowledge gained from basic research which potentially can be translated into commercial operations.Problems of scale-up and application of research data involve many parameters, both physical and biological, making it difficult to anticipate the interaction between the unit processes and the cultured animals. Aquacultural Engineering aims to develop this bioengineering interface for aquaculture and welcomes contributions in the following areas:– Engineering and design of aquaculture facilities – Engineering-based research studies – Construction experience and techniques – In-service experience, commissioning, operation – Materials selection and their uses – Quantification of biological data and constraintsMore basic studies in supporting disciplines (e.g. imaging, computer sciences, mechanical engineering) with little reference to aquacultural engineering will not be considered for publication.Style of presentation is flexible, but those papers dealing with specific problems should attempt to define them clearly in terms of systems engineering, quantifying the constraints, proposing solutions, implementing and detailing the design, and finally evaluating the outcome.

  • Fitoterapia

    • ISSN: 0367-326X
The Journal for the Study of Medicinal PlantsA Q1-ranked journal in the category of 'Agricultural and Biological Sciences' (Scopus).Fitoterapia is a Journal dedicated to medicinal plants and fungi and to the bioactive natural products produced by these organisms. It publishes original contributions in six major areas:Chemical characterization of active ingredients of medicinal plants and fungi, including their endophytes Innovative analytical approaches for dereplication and standardization of bioactive extracts and metabolites from plant resources Identification of bioactivity in plant and fungal extracts and in their constituents Identification of biological targets and mechanism of activity of plant and fungal extracts Production and genomic characterization of medicinal plants biomass Critical reviews of the composition, history, clinical and legal status of medicinal plants, and accounts on topical issues. Publication requirementsWestern Blots. Manuscripts reporting Western Blots must include original uncropped traces in triplicate as Supplementary Material. Images should be of good resolution.NMR data. Manuscripts reporting the structure elucidation of new compounds must include copies of MS and 1D and 2D NMR spectra as Supplementary Material. Fitoterapia strongly encourages Authors to deposit raw NMR data files (FID and 2D serial files) for new compounds in a publicly accessible data depository. Reviews. For review article submissions, Authors are required to provide evidence of their expertise and research experience in the specific field. Contributions reporting the following are NOT considered for publication: Activity data on crude extracts that have not been characterized by qualitative (and preferably quantitative) analysis of their individual constituents (LC/MS, or isolation followed by NMR). Data on the extract composition simply taken from literature or from previous studies are not acceptable. Characterization of only a few constituents is generally considered too partial. Studies on the bioactivity of pure compounds purchased or obtained by Authors without any study or relationship with the producing organism. Unexceptional and predictable bioactivity (e.g. antioxidant and mild antimicrobial properties of phenolics or of essential oils). Uncritical ethnopharmacological investigations, where a list of plants and their use are simply recorded. Genomic, transcriptomic and pharmacological studies without convincing wet lab experiments, or with little correlation to bioactive natural compounds.Studies based exclusively or mainly on computational/theore... investigations without adequate experimental support. In addition, the following immediate rejection criteria apply: RULE 1: The manuscript does not fall into any of the areas of interest of the Journal (e.g. investigation on extracts obtained from animal sources) RULE 2: The manuscript is too preliminary, reporting e.g. activity data without comparison to a reference, or without a positive control. RULE 3: The botanical source is not clearly identified (with scientific Latin names), authenticated, and documented (voucher). RULE 4: Lack of the required supporting material (see publication requirements). RULE 5: Bioactivity is not relevant to in vivo situations. RULE 6: Reviews on topics already covered in the recent literature. RULE 7: Bibliometric or patentometric reviews.
  • International Journal for Parasitology

    • ISSN: 0020-7519
Sponsored by the Australian Society for ParasitologyThe International Journal for Parasitology publishes the results of original research in all aspects of basic and applied parasitology, including all the fields covered by its Specialist Editors, and ranging from parasites and host-parasite relationships of intrinsic biological interest to those of social and economic importance in human and veterinary medicine and agriculture. Original research includes the development of novel and innovative concepts and ideas, as well as experimental and observational science that raises new hypotheses. We do not publish new genome sequences and assemblies alone without new and significant insight into the biology of the parasite, the parasite-host relationship or mechanisms of pathogenesis. Because of its breadth of discipline coverage, the aims and significance of all contributions should be made clear to readers who are not expert in the particular subject of papers. In applied parasitology, it will tend to favour contributions of broader significance to the subject rather than narrow, highly specialised applications. The principal form of publication is the full length paper which contains substantial results from a major program of research. The Journal also provides a medium for the publication of shorter, but complete, papers reporting highly significant original findings, as Succinctus articles. It also publishes Thematic Issues incorporating papers on a topical theme and commissions papers with emphasis on shorter, focussed Reviews of topical issues and strategically important subjects. The Journal encourages critical comment and debate on matters of current controversy in parasitology via "Current Opinions".The International Journal for Parasitology has also launched two specialist, open access titles you are welcome to submit to:International Journal for Parasitology: Parasites and WildlifeInternationa...
