In addition, it seeks reports of high-impact innovations in single or combined modality treatment, tumor sensitization, normal tissue protection (including both precision avoidance and pharmacologic means), brachytherapy, particle irradiation, and cancer imaging. Technical advances related to dosimetry and conformal radiation treatment planning are of interest, as are basic science studies investigating tumor physiology and the molecular biology underlying cancer and normal tissue radiation response.The Red Journal's related publications are Practical Radiation Oncology and Advances in Radiation Oncology. The journal presents original articles relating to scientific and clinical studies in the areas of immunohematology, transfusion practice, bleeding and thrombotic disorders and both therapeutic and donor apheresis including hematopoietic stem cells. Topics covered include the collection and processing of blood, compatibility testing and guidelines for the use of blood products, as well as screening for and transmission of blood-borne diseases. All areas of apheresis - therapeutic and collection - are also addressed. We would like to specifically encourage allied health professionals in this area to submit manuscripts that relate to improved patient and donor care, technical aspects and educational issues.Transfusion and Apheresis Science features a "Theme" section which includes, in each issue, a group of papers designed to review a specific topic of current importance in transfusion and hemostasis for the discussion of topical issues specific to apheresis and focuses on the operators' viewpoint. Transfusion Medicine Reviews provides an international forum in the English language for the publication of scholarly work devoted to the various sub-disciplines that comprise Transfusion Medicine including blood donation and processing, immunohematology, laboratory methods, clinical transfusion practice, hemostasis, cellular therapies, and transfusion and public policy. The aim of the journal is to inform clinicians, researchers, patients, and policy makers to the latest advances in our field. We do this primarily through the publication of original research and analytic reviews. Our original research articles must present original scientific experiments or clinical observations. Our reviews aim to give readers a deeper understanding of the knowledge-base of our field through papers that critically assess the existing literature rather than just summarize it. We expect authors to provide expert, unbiased, insightful analysis of their topic. All manuscripts undergo peer review by a minimum of two reviewers. We also aim to alert readers to emerging technologies as well as new applications of basic science to clinical transfusion practice.
