Ageing Research Reviews
As the average human life expectancy has increased, so too has the impact of ageing and age-related disease on our society. Ageing research is now the focus of thousands of laboratories that include leaders in the areas of genetics, molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry, and behaviour. Ageing Research Reviews (ARR) covers the trends in this field. It is designed to fill a large void, namely, a source for critical reviews and viewpoints on emerging findings on mechanisms of ageing and age-related disease. Rapid advances in understanding of mechanisms that control cellular proliferation, differentiation and survival are leading to new insight into the regulation of ageing. From telomerase to stem cells to energy and oxyradical metabolism, this is an exciting new era in the multidisciplinary field of ageing research. The cellular and molecular underpinnings of manipulations that extend lifespan, such as caloric restriction, are being identified and novel approaches for preventing age-related diseases are being developed. ARR publishes articles on focussed topics selected from the broad field of ageing research, with an emphasis on cellular and molecular mechanisms of the aging process and age-related diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes and neurodegenerative disorders. Applications of basic ageing research to lifespan extension and disease prevention are also covered in this journal.

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta: Gene Regulatory Mechanisms
BBA Gene Regulatory Mechanisms includes reports that describe novel insights into mechanisms of transcriptional, post-transcriptional and translational gene regulation. Special emphasis is placed on papers that identify epigenetic mechanisms of gene regulation, including chromatin, modification, and remodeling. This section also encompasses mechanistic studies of regulatory proteins and protein complexes; regulatory or mechanistic aspects of RNA processing; regulation of expression by small RNAs; genomic analysis of gene expression patterns; and modeling of gene regulatory pathways. Papers describing gene promoters, enhancers, silencers or other regulatory DNA regions must incorporate significant functions studies.The journal does not favorably review manuscripts identifying a miRNA-target pair without additional insights into the repression mechanism or significant advances in understanding regulatory pathways. In addition, the following elements should be an integral part of the study: •In silico prediction of miRNA targets must be experimentally verified using appropriate luciferase constructs and assays; •To exclude non-functional miRNA/mRNA interactions a reporter system including the whole 3'UTR of the target gene downstream the "luciferase" or GFP should be considered; •Any miRNA modulation should be validated by measuring the expression of the putative proteinPlease see our Guide for Authors for information on article submission. BBA Molecular Cell Research focuses on understanding the mechanisms of cellular processes at the molecular level. These include aspects of cellular signaling, signal transduction, cell cycle, apoptosis, intracellular trafficking, secretory and endocytic pathways, biogenesis of cell organelles, cytoskeletal structures, cellular interactions, cell/tissue differentiation and cellular enzymology. Also included are studies at the interface between Cell Biology and Biophysics which apply, for example, novel imaging methods for characterizing cellular processes.Please note: We usually do not consider descriptive manuscripts dealing with the identification of transcripts regulated by single miRNAs or lncRNAs, unless substantial new mechanistic insight into their (patho)physiological activity is provided. BBA Molecular and Cell Biology of Lipids publishes papers on original research dealing with novel aspects of lipid biology including the biosynthesis, degradation, and transport of lipids, the role of lipids and the lipidome in cells and whole organisms, and the regulation of lipid metabolism and function in normative health and disease states.Manuscripts should significantly advance the understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying biological processes in which lipids are involved using biochemical, biophysical, cell and molecular biological, genetic, or physiological approaches. An International Journal devoted to the Physics and Chemistry of Biological PhenomenaBiophysical Chemistry publishes original work and reviews in the areas of chemistry and physics directly impacting biological phenomena. Quantitative analysis of the properties of biological macromolecules, biologically active molecules, macromolecular assemblies and cell components in terms of kinetics, thermodynamics, spatio-temporal organization, NMR and X-ray structural biology, as well as single-molecule detection represent a major focus of the journal. Theoretical and computational treatments of biomacromolecular systems, macromolecular interactions, regulatory control and systems biology are also of interest to the journal.The journal publishes Regular Articles, Reviews, Short Communications (maximum of 4 printed pages), Discussion and Feature Articles. Feature Articles are normally by Editor's invitation only, but interested authors can contact the Editors before submission. Author(s) will be asked to focus on her/his recent research contributions, thereby adding a personal perspective to their field of research. These short reviews will include the authors' photo and a brief bio/CV and will have a page limit of 5 printed pages in print.Manuscripts that fall outside the scopes and interests of the journal are returned to the Authors without in-depth review. Relevant manuscripts are reviewed expeditiously with decisions generally made within 3 weeks from receipt. Short Communications are 6 printed pages maximum, reporting results of unusual timeliness and significance. BONE is an interdisciplinary forum for the rapid publication of original articles and reviews on basic, translational, and clinical aspects of bone and mineral metabolism, including rare bone diseases. The Journal also encourages submissions related to interactions of bone with other organ systems, including cartilage, tendon and other connective tissues, endocrine, muscle, fat, neural, vascular, gastrointestinal, hematopoietic, and immune systems.
