Journal of Financial Intermediation
The Journal of Financial Intermediation seeks to publish research in the broad areas of financial intermediation, investment banking, corporate finance, financial contracting, financial regulation and credit markets.Editorial Philosophy The new Editorial Board of the Journal of Financial Intermediation seeks to streamline the editorial process by implementing an active desk-rejection policy. We anticipate that a significant fraction of papers will be rejected without a detailed reviewing process. In this way, papers going out for reviews have a significant chance of eventually being published. While the policy is meant to minimize the burden on reviewers, submitters should expect their papers to receive a more thorough treatment in the editorial process, conditional on being refereed. Desk-rejected articles will NOT be refunded the submission fee.Reducing noise and increasing transparency of the refereeing process is an overarching goal of the new editorial policy. In this vein, the JFI is simplifying its editorial board structure and expanding the board of associate editors. Submitters may now expect their papers to be reviewed almost exclusively by members of the editorial board, or by researchers whose expertise is at par with that of members of the board. At the same time, the submission process is now single-blind, implying that author identity will not be hidden. Submitters may choose the Managing Editor in charge of their submission. Finance Research Letters invites submissions in all areas of finance, broadly defined. Finance Research Letters offers and ensures the rapid publication of important new results in these areas. Learning, Culture and Social Interaction is an international journal devoted to the publication of high-quality research on learning within, and through, social practices. Its particular focus is on understanding how learning and development are embedded in social and cultural activities, and how individuals and collective practices are transformed through learning.Such understanding requires a careful analysis of learning in social context, and of the communicative processes involved. In-depth studies of interaction in schools (in various subjects and settings), universities, work-places, voluntary organizations, public agencies, hospitals, laboratories and other institutional settings will be welcome, as well as studies of informal settings such as everyday conversations, play settings, youth clubs, games and other cultural practices. Longitudinal studies of learning trajectories are relevant as are analyses of contexts and interactional patterns that hinder learning. The important point is that the relationships between cultures, social interaction and learners (and teachers) are in focus.The term 'interaction' includes forms of communication which take place through technologies of various kinds (telephone, the Internet, presentation technologies and so on). Interaction between people and artefacts, insofar as they address learning, are also relevant. Thus, the focus is not exclusively on face-to-face interaction. Games and Economic Behavior (GEB) is a general-interest journal devoted to the advancement of game theory and its applications. Game theory applications cover a wide range of subjects in social, behavioral, mathematical and biological sciences, and game theoretic methodologies draw on a large variety of tools from those sciences.Publication criteria: GEB publishes general-interest papers that significantly advance the frontiers of game theory and its applications. This is a high bar, but the journal's editors are open-minded about the interpretations and trade-offs involved. For example, a paper in industrial organization that deals with corporate takeover might be of general game-theoretic interest if it contributes to our understanding of coalition formation. Similarly, the analysis of games played by computer algorithms might be relevant to modeling strategic thinking. The editors are also open-minded about the frontiers. They are happy to publish papers that, while not in currently popular areas, lead to significant new frontiers in game theory and applications. Authors are therefore encouraged to make a clear case, in the paper itself, that it meets these publication criteria. Evaluation procedure: Each paper is initially assigned by GEB's chief editor to one of the seven editors (including himself), who has final decision authority. In determining their decisions, editors consult with advisory editors and reviewers who are anonymous to the authors. The assigned editor then (non-anonymously) communicates her/his decision to the corresponding author in a decision letter, usually accompanied by one or more referees' and/or advisory editors' reports. Currently GEB publishes about 15% of the submitted papers. However, when editors decide that a submitted paper does not have a chance of meeting the journal publication criterion, they "desk-reject" the paper without going through the standard, lengthy evaluation process. The Journal of Corporate Finance aims to publish high quality, original manuscripts or shorter format papers in both theoretical and empirical corporate finance. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to: financial structure, governance, product markets, payout, labor, innovation, risk management, financial contracting, and international finance. Papers at the intersection of corporate finance and macroeconomics, asset pricing, household, behavioral, fintech and blockchain, law, financial intermediation, or microstructure also are encouraged.The new Editorial Board is committed to a timely and constructive reviewing process and seeks to streamline the editorial process by implementing an active desk-rejection policy. We anticipate that a non-trivial fraction of papers will be rejected without a detailed reviewing process.
