Groundwater for Sustainable Development
Groundwater for Sustainable Development is an international, interdisciplinary journal dedicated to advancing the science, management, governance, and protection of groundwater resources in support of sustainable, resilient societies and ecosystems.Groundwat... is fundamental to water, energy and food security, human health, economic development, ecosystem functioning, and adaptation to climate variability and change. At the same time, groundwater systems worldwide face increasing pressures from overexploitation, contamination, land-use change, urbanization, climate change, seawater intrusion, and competing demands. Addressing these challenges requires approaches that connect hydrogeological understanding with environmental, technological, socioeconomic, institutional, and policy dimensions. The journal provides a global platform for high-quality research that improves understanding of groundwater systems and translates scientific knowledge into effective solutions for their sustainable use, protection, restoration, and governance. It places particular emphasis on studies that clearly demonstrate relevance to groundwater sustainability, provide methodological or conceptual advances, and generate insights transferable beyond a single study area. The journal welcomes research on:Groundwater resources and aquifer systems: occurrence, recharge, storage, flow, discharge, groundwater–surface water interactions, aquifer characterization, water balances, and resource assessment.Groundwat... quality and hydrogeochemistry: natural and anthropogenic controls on groundwater chemistry, geogenic contaminants, salinization, seawater intrusion, nutrients, trace elements, emerging contaminants, pathogens, and processes affecting groundwater quality.Groundwater contamination and remediation: contaminant sources, transport and fate, vulnerability and risk assessment, remediation technologies, natural attenuation, and prevention and management strategies.Groundwat... sustainability and resource management: sustainable abstraction, groundwater depletion and recovery, water-use efficiency, conjunctive use, demand management, groundwater allocation, and strategies for balancing human and environmental water needs.Climate change, drought, and groundwater resilience: impacts of climate variability and change on recharge, storage, quality, availability, and groundwater-dependen... systems; groundwater drought; extreme events; and the role of aquifer management, and policy response in climate adaptation and water-security strategies.Managed aquifer recharge and groundwater replenishment: MAR, aquifer storage and recovery, water banking, nature-based recharge solutions, recharge enhancement, water reuse, and assessment of their technical, environmental, economic, and societal performance.Groundwa... ecosystems and environmental flows: interactions among groundwater, rivers, wetlands, springs, terrestrial ecosystems, biodiversity, and ecosystem services, including approaches for their protection and restoration.Groundwa... agriculture, cities, industry, and energy: groundwater within food–water–energy–ec... systems, irrigation and agricultural productivity, urban groundwater, industrial water use, subsurface energy systems, geothermal energy, hot and cold water relation, and competing sectoral demands.Groundwater governance, policy, economics, and society: institutions, regulation, groundwater rights and allocation, economic instruments, social-ecological systems, community-based management, equity, environmental justice, stakeholder participation, transboundary aquifers, and the political economy of groundwater.Groundwa... and human health: exposure to groundwater contaminants, drinking-water security, health-risk assessment, and interdisciplinary approaches connecting groundwater quality with public health.Monitoring, modeling, and emerging technologies: field and sensor-based monitoring, numerical and conceptual modeling, remote sensing, geophysics, environmental tracers and isotopes, artificial intelligence and machine learning, data assimilation, digital tools, decision-support systems, and other innovative methods that provide demonstrable advances in groundwater understanding or management.Solutions... interventions, and implementation: evaluation of groundwater-manageme... measures, adaptation strategies, successful and unsuccessful interventions, implementation barriers, trade-offs, scalability, and evidence-based pathways toward sustainable groundwater systems.Article expectations:The journal particularly encourages studies that move beyond site description to provide new scientific understanding, methodological innovation, management relevance, or transferable lessons. Case studies are welcome when they address a clearly defined scientific or sustainability question and demonstrate relevance beyond the specific study area.Interdisciplina... and transdisciplinary research connecting groundwater science with engineering, ecology, climate science, public health, economics, governance, and the social sciences is strongly encouraged.Studies based primarily on routine groundwater-quality characterization, standard water-quality indices, conventional GIS overlay methods, or the application of established models or machine-learning algorithms without clear methodological innovation, process understanding, validation, or broader sustainability significance are generally outside the journal's priority scope. Also, the development of new water treatment materials or processes with limited relevance to groundwater is beyond scope.Groundwater for Sustainable Development seeks to connect science, policy, and solutions, supporting evidence-based pathways toward groundwater systems that are environmentally sustainable, socially equitable, economically viable, and resilient to future change.- ISSN: 2352-801X

Cognition
International Journal of Cognitive ScienceCognition is an international journal that publishes theoretical and experimental papers on the study of the mind. It covers a wide variety of subjects concerning all the different aspects of cognition, ranging from experimental studies of behavior and of the brain to formal analysis.Papers will be selected on the basis of their scientific quality, their degree of innovation and their unambiguous theoretical advance to the study of cognition. Paper's overall soundness of the argument and degree of empirical motivation, especially from converging sources, are more important than adherence to specific methodological principles. Studies that selectively focus on the cognitive and neural mechanisms that underlie problems with cognition in clinical populations or on purely methodological questions fall outside the scope of Cognition. Because Cognition enjoys a wide readership from many disciplines, authors should explicitly consider the general theoretical issues raised by their work and its relevance to other topics and methods. Materials should describe work done and methods used in a clear and explicit manner (allowing reproduction of the methods by others).- ISSN: 0010-0277

Infrared Physics & Technology
The Journal covers the entire field of infrared physics and technology: theory, experiment, application, devices and instrumentation. Infrared' is defined as covering the near, mid and far infrared (terahertz) regions from 0.75um (750nm) to 1mm (300GHz.) Submissions in the 300GHz to 100GHz region may be accepted at the editors discretion if their content is relevant to shorter wavelengths. The very near infrared, VNIR, defined as 750nm-1200nm is subject to special consideration.Where a submission utilises the VNIR alone, or in conjunction with longer wavelengths and uses typically `infrared? technology such as InGaAs detectors, it is in scope.Where a submission utilises the VNIR and shorter wavelengths in the visible, and uses typically visible region technology such as silicon detectors, it is unlikely to be appropriate to this Journal. Submissions must be primarily concerned with and directly relevant to this spectral region. Its core topics can be summarized as the generation, propagation and detection, of infrared radiation; the associated optics, materials and devices; and its use in all fields of science, industry, engineering and medicine. When applying infrared technology to other fields, authors should pay particular attention to emphasizing the key role of infrared.Infrared techniques occur in many different fields, notably spectroscopy and interferometry; material characterization and processing; atmospheric physics, astronomy and space research. Scientific aspects include lasers, quantum optics, quantum electronics, image processing and semiconductor physics. Some important applications are medical diagnostics and treatment, industrial inspection and environmental monitoring.A fuller though not exhaustive list of topics would include: Astronomy, Astrophysics and Space ResearchAtmospheric transmission, turbulence and scatteringBiomedical and Medical applicationsCultural heritageEnvironmenta... applications: pollution and monitoringDetectors: quantum and thermalImage processingIndustrial applicationsInfrared lasers including free electron lasersMaterial properties, processing and characterizationNon-... testing, active and passive.• Optical elements: lenses, polarizers, filters, mirrors, fibres, etc.Radiometry: techniques, calibration, standards and instrumentationRemot... sensing and range-findingSolid-s... physicsThermal imaging: device design, testing and applicationsSynchrot... radiation in the infraredAuthors may indicate opposed reviewers in the submission system if they believe there may be a conflict of interest.During submission, please suggest at least one and a maximum of five potential reviewers. You are strongly encouraged to submit recommendations for appropriately senior and knowledgeable referees having no connection to your work and not located at your institution, as this may speed up the processing of your manuscript. The editorial office may not use your suggestions, but they are greatly appreciated. Where the author works in a country with a small community of research workers in his or her field, it is highly desirable that at least two of the suggested referees are from another country. To be suitable for submission to this Journal, manuscripts should advance the field of Infrared Physics and Technology. Their target audience should be those working in the field of Infrared Physics and Technology. Papers using infrared methods, such as FTIR spectroscopy or thermography, in an essentially routine way to advance some other field, and of interest to other readerships, and generally not suited to this Journal. The Journal does include within its scope genuinely new applications of established infrared methods. In the field of medical applications such as the detection of breast cancer or diabetic pathology, submissions to IRPT should normally include advances in hardware or data collection protocols etc. Such studies are required to have adequate sized and well characterized cohorts. Clinical studies using standard equipment are generally not within the scope of the Journal. Similarly in the fields of hyperspectral imaging and near infrared (NIR) spectroscopy application of standard hardware and signal processing methods to a different agricultural product etc does not normally fall within our scope, whereas novel hardware or signal processing does. Particularly for applications in the NIR spectral range, authors should emphasize the novelty of their work. The Journal publishes experimentally validated research. Purely computational or analytical studies (e.g., computer modelling, numerical simulation, analytical calculation) are considered solely in exceptional circumstances and when supported by compelling reasons. The Journal only publishes papers which are purely based on computer modelling without support from experimental results in exceptional circumstances when there is a clear reason to do so. These might, for example, include comparative studies of designs for large pieces of equipment such as satellites, FELs etc.Papers on advances in modelling techniques, appropriately validated, are welcome.- ISSN: 1350-4495

Journal of Chromatography A
Journal of Chromatography A publishes research papers and critical reviews on all aspects of fundamental and applied separation science. The scope includes chromatography and related techniques (e.g. field-flow fractionation, electromigration techniques, Ion mobility spectrometry and hyphenated and other multi-dimensional techniques). Manuscripts on sample preparation methods/techniques and detection techniques, especially mass spectrometry are also considered, principally if they have a substantive chromatographic component. In addition, approaches dealing with the automation and miniaturization of separation techniques, and sample preparation and/or detection in combination with separation techniques are welcomed.Journal of Chromatography A values manuscripts describing fundamental research on all aspects of separation science theory and methodology, instrumental developments and analytical and preparative applications of general interest. In determining the suitability of submitted articles for publication, particular scrutiny is placed on the degree of novelty and significance of the research and the extent it adds to existing knowledge in separation science. Applications should address cutting-edge research questions and present a certain degree of complexity. The journal discourages submissions limited to the analysis of only one or two compounds or those that are straightforward extensions of published methods to new sample matrices. Furthermore, plagiarism and inadvertent lack of citations will be scrutinized extensively, and are a reason for immediate rejection.Journal of Chromatography A applies uniform acceptance criteria to all types of submissions (Full-length Research Papers; Short Communications; Technical Notes; Concept Papers; Review article; Discussions and Tutorials), irrespective of whether these are submitted to Regular Issues, Virtual Special Issues, or Virtual Symposium Special Issues.- ISSN: 0021-9673

Earth-Science Reviews
Covering a much wider field than the usual specialist journals, Earth-Science Reviews publishes review articles dealing with all aspects of the Earth Sciences, and is an important vehicle for allowing readers to see their particular interest related to the Earth Sciences as a whole. Please see example papers below. Our readership is more diverse than that of specialist journals. The editors strive to ensure that reviews, even those that may otherwise appear in discipline journals, are accessible for all readers. Review articles must integrate and advance existing knowledge and highlight new directions by synthesizing, evaluating and discussing previously published literature; the value of such articles is also increased by authors’ own perspectives and comment. Review articles should be authoritative. They may also constitute a detailed introduction to/overview of a subject in a way that, for example, enables a researcher or graduate student to begin work in a new field. Articles may be extensive, providing comprehensive coverage of a broad or cross-disciplinary subject, or they may be shorter yet provide an in-depth overview of a very specific topic. Authors may also include a small proportion of their own new data and analysis, both to demonstrate what is being done at the forefront of an area and to support their arguments, yet regular research articles will not be considered.Submissio... that aggregate previous literature and do not integrate and build on existing knowledge are unlikely to be accepted. Similarly, meta-analyses that do not include a significant review component in the way described above are also unlikely to be accepted. Bibliometric studies will not be considered. Where it is necessary to include bibliometric data in a review, that part of the article must be included in the supplementary information only. Regular research articles are only included in the occasional special issue, where the collection of papers together performs a review function. Review articles that are in practice regular research papers or case studies and that are not in a special issue will not be peer reviewed but will instead be recommended for discipline journals; a transfer option will enable such papers to be transferred quickly and easily to a discipline journal of the author’s choice. Articles on the biological, ecological, soil and agricultural sciences and on geoengineering should be submitted to journals in those fields. Earth-Science Reviews offers authors the rare opportunity to explore a particular subject without any limitation on the number of words used. We do however encourage authors to adopt a writing style which balances conciseness with the need to do justice to their subject. Therefore, authors of review articles in excess of around 20,000 words should first discuss their idea by email with one of the journal editors, copied to Tim Horscroft, Review Papers Coordinator/Managing Editor (timothy.horscroft@e... to ensure the project's suitability for potential publication.Illustra... must be actual figures (maps, profiles, graphs, photos etc) and not repetitions in graphical form of the text. All figure captions, especially where the figure is from the literature, must state the message of the figure and not only be a statement of its content. This is especially important, in providing a service to the reader, in a review paper that uses illustrations from difficult to access sources. Figure captions must be placed beneath each figure and can also be listed separately. From time to time, reviews on topics of exceptional or current interest, and of an exceptional standard, will be invited by the editors. These will be peer-reviewed in the same way as all articles. Invited reviews are published with the heading Invited Review. The following are examples of what the editors consider good illustrations of the types of review articles that Earth-Science Reviews hopes to publish:Earth’s clay mineral inventory and its climate interaction: A quantitative assessmentLandform-r... patterns of Northwestern Africa: Deciphering Cenozoic surface dynamics of the tropical cratonic geosystem Strontium (87Sr/86Sr) mapping: A critical review of methods and approaches Exploring the multiple land degradation pathways across the planet Glacial terminations or glacial interruptions? Biosensors and Bioelectronics
Biosensors & Bioelectronics has an open access companion journal Biosensors &Bioelectronics: X . To submit to Biosensors & Bioelectronics: X visit https://www.editoria... are defined as analytical devices incorporating a biological material, a biologically derived material or a biomimic intimately associated with or integrated within a physicochemical transducer or transducing microsystem, which may be optical, electrochemical, thermometric, piezoelectric, magnetic or micromechanical (Turner et al., 1987; Turner, 1989). Biosensors & Bioelectronics is the principal international journal devoted to research, design, development and application of biosensors and bioelectronics. It is an interdisciplinary journal serving professionals with an interest in the exploitation of biological materials and designs in novel diagnostic and electronic devices including sensors, DNA chips, electronic noses, lab-on-a-chip and μ-TAS. Biosensors usually yield a digital electronic signal which is proportional to the concentration of a specific analyte or group of analytes. While the signal may in principle be continuous, devices can be configured to yield single measurements to meet specific market requirements. Examples of Biosensors include immunosensors, enzyme-based biosensors, organism- and whole cell-based biosensors. They have been applied to a wide variety of analytical problems including uses in medicine, biomedical research, drug discovery, the environment, food, process industries, security and defence. The design and study of molecular and supramolecular structures with molecular biorecognition and biomimetic properties for use in analytical devices is also included within the scope of the journal. Here the focus is on the complementary intersection between molecular recognition, nanotechnology, molecular imprinting and supramolecular chemistry to improve the analytical performance and robustness of devices. The emerging field of Bioelectronics seeks to exploit biology in conjunction with electronics in a wider context encompassing, for example, biological fuel cells, bionics and biomaterials for information processing, information storage, electronic components and actuators. A key aspect is the interface between biological materials and micro- and nano-electronics.Whi... endeavouring to maintain coherence in the scope of the journal, the editors will accept reviews and papers of obvious relevance to the community, which describe important new concepts, underpin understanding of the field or provide important insights into the practical application, manufacture and commercialisation of biosensors and bioelectronics.- ISSN: 0956-5663
