Computers & Geosciences publishes high impact, original research at the interface between Computer Sciences and Geosciences. Pure methodological developments (e.g. geophysics, hydrology) are not considered. Pure analytical developments are not considered, unless they have significant implications on computational geoscientific problems.Computer science manuscripts with no clear application to the geosciences (as defined above).Manuscripts aiming at solving a geoscientific engineering problem rather than answering a scientific question.Standard code of already well-established, or previously published methods.Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs), unless they provide an original solution to a non-trivial input-handling problem.Manuscripts that use GIS tools in standard ways.Code and Data: Computers & Geosciences aims to publish code and supporting data from accepted manuscripts using state-of-the-art technologies. Code should be original and demonstrate a development in research. It should also have clear design and be reproducible, reusable, extensible and maintainable. Manuscripts presenting code, software or implementation of described algorithms need to include a link to a repository where the code can be downloaded. In such cases the open source license should be clearly indicated in submitted manuscripts. Manuscripts that describe code that is not open source are desk rejected. The journal editors offer to fork source code or data repositories that accompany published papers on GitHub https://github.com/C... to help the community find the author's original repository.Paper Types and maximum lengths (lengths mentioned below are not including abstract, references and figure captions):Research paper (5,000 words): Providing a novel and original contribution to the scientific fields of study outlined above.Case study (5,000 words): Describing a real-world case study on the scientific fields of study outlined above.Review paper (10,000 words): Critically describing the state-of-the art of applications of computer science in the geosciences, as a stand-alone contribution or to frame a special issue. Criteria for assessment shall be: completeness, depth, novelty, timeliness, quality, and interest to the journal's readership. Before submitting review paper manuscripts, a review outline should be approved by one of the editors of the journal.Book or software reviews (1500 words): Describing and evaluating a new or significant publication or piece of software, not written by the author, that is relevant to computation or informatics in the geosciences.Letter to the Editor: Commenting on published articles. Criteria for assessment shall be the merit of the question or comment raised. The author(s) of the commented-on article shall be offered the opportunity to prepare a reply, to be published alongside the comment. Wave Motion
Wave Motion is devoted to the cross fertilization of ideas, and to stimulating interaction between workers in various research areas in which wave propagation phenomena play a dominant role. The description and analysis of wave propagation phenomena provides a unifying thread connecting diverse areas of engineering and the physical sciences such as acoustics, optics, geophysics, seismology, electromagnetic theory, solid and fluid mechanics.The journal publishes papers on analytical, numerical and experimental methods. Journal of Non-Crystalline Solids
The Journal of Non-Crystalline Solids publishes review articles, research papers, and Letters to the Editor. The journal publishes articles on amorphous and glassy materials, including inorganic, organic, polymeric, hybrid, and metallic systems. Papers on partially glassy materials, such as glass-ceramics and glass-matrix composites, and papers involving the liquid state are also included in so far as the properties of the liquid are relevant for glass formation. Submissions on chemical, electronic, optical and mechanical properties of glasses, amorphous semiconductors and metals, sol-gel materials, the liquid state of these solids and the processes by which they are formed are particularly welcomed.In all cases, the papers must demonstrate both novelty and importance to the field by way of significant advances in understanding or application of non-crystalline materials. New Astronomy
New Astronomy aims to publish high quality articles in all areas of astronomy, from the solar system through cosmology, and in all wavelengths from radio to gamma-ray. New Astronomy actively encourages the submission of observational, experimental, theoretical, and numerical work, but it does not consider for publication physics papers for which there is no clear pathway for observational tests of the ideas proposed with current or reasonably conceivable future missions, observatories, and experiments. We encourage potential authors to write pre-submission inquiries to the Editor-in-Chief if they are unsure if their work is within the journal?s aims and scope.In addition to articles with original results, New Astronomy accepts regular reviews as well as focus reviews. These last are modest length (typically <20 pages) review articles that cover recent developments within a field, rather than providing comprehensive reviews of the entirety of the field.Proposals for special editions, for example as conference proceedings, sets of papers related to new missions, or on other topics are welcomed.

Separation and Purification Technology
Separation and Purification Technology is a journal dedicated to the dissemination of novel methods for separation and purification in chemical and environmental engineering for homogeneous solutions and heterogeneous mixtures. This includes any separation and/or purification of liquids, vapors and gases, resource recycling, purification of biobased feedstocks/products, carbon capture and separation, with the exception of methods intended for analytical purposes. The journal welcomes contributions related to bioseparations in biotechnology, pharmaceutical production, food processing, and environmental applications. Soil science, polymer science and metallurgy are outside the scope of the journal. The Official Journal of the American Filtration and Separations Society.Contribution... should be always related to new or improved separation methods or principles; applications are welcome provided that they are not a direct implementation of known separation methods.Separation and Purification Technology welcomes contributions focused on experimental studies and theoretical analyses of phenomena associated with and arising from separation and purification as well as process development and simulation, equipment design and fabrication. Preparation and modification of materials used in separation and/or purification operations can be considered if the intended separation and/or purification is an essential part of the work rather than a tool for characterization of a material. Such new materials should allow for separations that cannot be achieved with existing materials; alternative materials for e.g., adsorption are not sufficiently novel. Simulation studies are welcome, but should be accompanied by experimental verification. In view of ethical concerns regarding the detrimental impacts of fluorinated compounds, studies relying fully or in part on materials such as PVDF or PTFE are limited to the environmental impacts of PVDF-based materials used in separations and on possible environmentally-frie... alternatives. Research on fossil fuels is limited to studies not aiming at enhanced exploitation of fossil reserves. Manuscripts should be of global significance; studies addressing a local, national or regional challenge will not be accepted. The global relevance should be clearly explained in the manuscript.Review papers should be written by an author with proven expertise in the field, and provide a critical assessment of the state-of-the-art in a specific topic related to novel approaches in separation and purification.

Parallel Computing
Researchers interested in submitting a special issue proposal should adhere to the Submission Guidelines. Parallel Computing is an international journal presenting the practical use of parallel computer systems, including high-performance architecture, system software, programming systems and tools, and applications. Within this context, the journal covers all aspects of high-end parallel computing from single homogeneous or heterogenous computing nodes to large-scale multi-node systems.Parallel Computing features original research work and review articles as well as novel or illustrative accounts of application experience with (and techniques for) the use of parallel computers. We also welcome studies reproducing prior publications that either confirm or disprove prior published results.Technical areas of interest include, but are not limited to:· System software for parallel computer systems including programming languages (new languages as well as compilation techniques), operating systems (including middleware), and resource management (scheduling and load-balancing).· Enabling software including debuggers, performance tools, and system and numeric libraries.· General hardware (architecture) concepts, new technologies enabling the realization of such new concepts, and details of commercially available systems.· Software engineering and productivity as it relates to parallel computing.· Applications (including scientific computing, deep learning, machine learning) or tool case studies demonstrating novel ways to achieve parallelism.· Performance measurement results on state-of-the-art systems.· Approaches to effectively utilize large-scale parallel computing, including new algorithms or algorithm analysis with demonstrated relevance to real applications using existing or next generation parallel computer architectures.· Parallel I/O systems, both hardware and software.· Networking technology for support of high-speed computing, demonstrating the impact of high-speed computation on parallel applications· Programming models and software for hybrid quantum-classical computing, and hybrid quantum-classical algorithms for high-performance computing.
