European Journal of Mechanics - B/Fluids
Entirely in EnglishThe European Journal of Mechanics - B/Fluids publishes papers in all fields of fluid mechanics. Although investigations in well-established areas are within the scope of the journal, recent developments and innovative ideas are particularly welcome. Theoretical, computational and experimental papers are equally welcome. Mathematical methods, be they deterministic or stochastic, analytical or numerical, will be accepted provided they serve to clarify some identifiable problems in fluid mechanics, and provided the significance of results is explained. Similarly, experimental papers must add physical insight in to the understanding of fluid mechanics.Fast Tracks in the European Journal of Mechanics B/Fluids is a venue for short papers with significant original results across the full range of fluid mechanics. Papers submitted as Fast Tracks will receive priority handling by a dedicated editor, to ensure accelerated publication, and will appear in a dedicated EJMB/Fluids section of each journal volume. EJMB/Fluids will strive for the editorial process of two months from submission to publication. Manuscripts submitted to Fast Tracks must maintain the same standard of rigor and quality required of all papers submitted to the Journal; thus, papers in the fast-track process are not intended for the publication of minor incremental or cursory results.The European Journal of Mechanics B/Fluids welcomes extended Comments to published articles, to facilitate evaluation of each paper by the community, to stimulate scientific discussions and possibly highlight paths of future research. It is not the objective of the Comments section to point to minor issues, such as typographical errors. Astronomy and Computing
Astronomy and Computing is a peer-reviewed journal that focuses on the broad area between astronomy, computer science, software development and information technology. The journal aims to publish the work of scientists and (software) engineers in all aspects of astronomical computing, including the collection, analysis, reduction, visualisation, preservation and dissemination of data, and the development of astronomical software and simulations. The journal covers applications of computer science techniques to astronomy, as well as novel applications of information technologies within astronomy.The journal is open to a broad range of contributions about the use of computing in astronomy. It encourages unsolicited submissions of regular scientific articles, of manuscripts on new software releases and data releases of astronomical surveys, and of "reports on practice" which describe the outcomes (positive and negative) of the practical application of informatics techniques within astronomy research and operations. Authors wishing instead to submit review articles, white papers and target articles, as well as ideas for special issues of the journal are expected to first contact members of the Editorial Board.Submissions are expected to cover research topics dealing with computer applications dedicated to astronomy and astrophysics. E.g. manuscripts describing purely computer science or engineering research, or theoretical manuscripts with no connection to computational astrophysics will not be considered for publication.In general, manuscripts should make a valuable contribution to the field and should display an appropriate familiarity with previous work in the area and alternative approaches to the same problem. Providing a sustainable link to data or source code is strongly encouraged (and is required in the case of manuscripts on data or software releases, respectively). Journal of Fluids and Structures
The Journal of Fluids and Structures publishes original papers on all aspects of the interaction between fluids and solids. Studies of single-physics fluid or solid mechanics problems are welcome too, provided they are motivated by and directly contribute to the understanding of an associated fluid-structure interaction problem.The journal publishes theoretical, computational and experimental studies that provide new insight into the underlying physics and/or present novel methodologies. Studies dealing with specific engineering applications are welcome, provided they address clearly posed questions that are of wider interest, i.e. go beyond mere case studies.Authors must clearly identify the novelty of their work and should provide conclusions that put the specific result obtained in their study into a wider context.Numerical studies must include a clear assessment of associated errors via the provision of suitable mesh/timestep convergence studies; similarly, experimental studies must provide an assessment of experimental uncertainties.The journal has no hard page limits but expects authors to provide a brief statement justifying the length of their manuscript if it is close to or exceeds 25 pages (including figures and tables, both embedded in the text, which should be typeset with a reasonable layout, e.g. 10 or 12 pt font size and standard font).

International Journal of Thermal Sciences
Founded as Revue Générale de Thermique in 1962The International Journal of Thermal Sciences is devoted to the publication of original research papers concerned with fundamental studies on the physics of processes involving heat transfer and their coupling with mass transfer and/or fluid flow. The journal especially welcomes papers aiming at a better understanding of the coupling of local mechanisms and their interactions in larger scale systems.Papers submitted for publication may contain either experimental results, numerical simulations or discussions of models, and must present a significant scientific contribution.The fundamental subjects considered within the scope of the journal are:• Heat and relevant mass transfer at all scales (nano, micro and macro) and in all types of materials (heterogeneous, composites, biological,...) and fluid flow • Forced, natural or mixed convection in reactive or non-reactive media • Single or multi-phase fluid flow with or without phase change • Near-and far-field radiative heat transfer • Combined modes of heat transfer in complex systems (for example, plasmas, biological or geological systems,?) • Multiscale modelling.Manuscript... dedicated to stability analysis studies, or with developed codes, can be considered if their focus is on the physics of heat and mass transfer processes. Experimental validation for the actual problem or a related case is strongly encouraged. They are, however, outside the scope of our journal, if such papers are centered on mathematical developments.In all cases, the paper must present a physical discussion of the mathematical model and a clear justification of the underlying assumptions.Papers dedicated to applications in different fields of engineering or natural sciences may be considered provided that they analyze the coupling of heat transfer modes with other mechanisms and their influence on the system's behavior.The International Journal of Thermal Sciences will not accept papers with the following characteristics:• Studies which belong to already established specialized journals, such as computational techniques, combustion, thermodynamic cycles,? • Papers with purely descriptive or empirical content, • Mere applications of classical equations to complex fluids (e.g. colloidal suspensions) or to the complex combination of basic mechanisms (divided media, external forces,?) • Numerical simulations without a thorough validation of the code and convergence study, • Numerical results using commercial CFD codes, unless new insights into the physics of the process are presented. Even in such cases, experimental validation is mandatory for the actual problem. • Experimental reports without uncertainty analysis or presenting results without error margins, • Experimental or numerical studies which do not provide a physical interpretation of the observed behavior, • Studies presenting the global performance of industrial systems, • Papers on the characterization of materials, • Statistical techniques describing the process as a black box.Articles can be submitted in English or French. The Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials provides an important forum for the disclosure and discussion of original contributions covering the whole spectrum of topics, from basic magnetism to the technology and applications of magnetic materials. The journal encourages greater interaction between the basic and applied sub-disciplines of magnetism with comprehensive review articles, in addition to full-length contributions. In addition, other categories of contributions are welcomed, including Critical Focused issues, Current Perspectives, and Outreach to the General Public.Main Categories: Full-length articles: Technically original research documents that report results of value to the communities that comprise the journal audience. The link between chemical, structural and microstructural properties on the one hand and magnetic properties on the other hand are encouraged.In addition to general topics covering all areas of magnetism and magnetic materials, the full-length articles also include three sub-sections, focusing on Nanomagnetism, Spintronics and Applications. The sub-section on Nanomagnetism contains articles on magnetic nanoparticles, nanowires, thin films, 2D materials and other nanoscale magnetic materials and their applications. The sub-section on Spintronics contains articles on magnetoresistance, magnetoimpedance, magneto-optical phenomena, Micro-Electro-Mechan... Systems (MEMS), and other topics related to spin current control and magneto-transport phenomena. The sub-section on Applications display papers that focus on applications of magnetic materials. The applications need to show a connection to magnetism.Review articles: Review articles organize, clarify, and summarize existing major works in the areas covered by the Journal and provide comprehensive citations to the full spectrum of relevant literature.Other Categories: Critical Focused Issues - consist of single articles on emerging topics of interest. Articles in this category identify problems of current interest that need to be addressed in the future in order to advance an emerging subfield of magnetism. By identifying such open issues, they focus the interest of the community to the challenges ahead. Thus, unlike review articles, this category will aim more on the future and what needs to be explored, rather than on what has been explored in the past. Of course, the articles include a review aspect in order to identify the open issues and put them into perspective. The articles need not be long, exhaustive or comprehensive. They provide the vision of the authors, who are recognized experts in the field. Readers utilize these articles to focus their thinking on future endeavors. These articles should also help to generate proposals to funding agencies worldwide. Current Perspectives - Current Perspectives consists of clusters of articles on emerging topics of interest. The articles have guest editors who formulate and manage the intellectual scope of the project. A cluster is composed of authors who represent their own perspective and who possess diverse opinions on facets of the topic. A cluster, in its totality, provides a balanced point of view, while each individual article is free to be discriminating. The articles within a cluster have invited status, the articles are typically of short-to-medium length, and the reference lists must be adequate but not necessarily extensive. The clusters are expected to focus not only on what is known, but also on what the open questions are that need to be addressed in the future. The articles should be written at a level that inspires the next generation of graduate students. The guest editors typically provide an overview article to tie the cluster together thematically. Outreach to the General Public - These are articles of a general nature that highlight the importance of magnetism and stimulate the interest of the public at large. A heightened awareness of magnetism is healthy for our field. Experts who have given public lectures will be encouraged to submit their work in order for them to reach a larger community. It will also help our readers in their own communications with the public. These articles need not be long, exhaustive or comprehensive. They provide the vision of the authors. Providing the public with the importance of magnetism and magnetic materials at a level that can be understood and appreciated will be a public service. Composites Part A: Applied Science and Manufacturing publishes original research papers, review articles, case studies, short communications and letters from a wide variety of sources dealing with all aspects of the science and technology of composite materials, including fibrous and particulate reinforcements in polymeric, metallic and ceramic matrices, and 'natural' composites. The range of applicable topics includes the properties, design and manufacture of reinforcing fibres and particles, novel architectures and concepts, multifunctional composites, advances in fabrication and processing of composite materials and structures, manufacturing science, process modelling, experimental mechanics, microstructural characterization of composites and their constituent phases, interfaces in composites, new approaches to prediction and measurement of mechanical, physical and chemical behaviour, and performance of composites in service. Articles are also welcomed on sustainable and economic aspects of composites.
