Measurement
Journal of the International Measurement Confederation (IMEKO)Contributions are invited on novel achievements in all fields of measurement and instrumentation science and technology. Authors are encouraged to submit novel material representing achievements in the field, whose ultimate goal is an enhancement of the state-of-the-art of subjects such as: measurement and metrology fundamentals, measurement science, sensors, measurement instruments, measurement and estimation techniques, measurement data processing and fusion algorithms, evaluation procedures for performance analysis of measurement systems, processes and algorithms, mathematical models for measurement-oriented purposes, and distributed measurement systems in a connected world.Notes:Papers including measurement results that, although important to validate any given scientific study but which offer no new insights in an area different from measurement science or technology, do not fall within the scope of this journal; The disciplined usage of well-known metrological terms is strongly required. Authors can access information on all relevant terms such as measurement accuracy, uncertainty, the law of propagation of uncertainty and other, similar terms: these are defined in internationally approved guidelines such as the International Vocabulary of Metrology (VIM) and Guide to the Expression of Uncertainty in Measurement (GUM), which are freely available on https://www.bipm.org... paper must clearly describe the measurement context in which the research was carried out by undertaking a critical review of the state-of-the-art of the relevant body of knowledge in instrumentation and measurement and by showing how the research presented advances it;The letter accompanying the submission must describe clearly how the paper satisfies the above requirements.Papers that focus on image processing or fault diagnosis with little or no elements of measurement science or technology will not be considered within the journal scope.Papers that are based on military applications are out of scope for the Journal and are not considered for publication in measurement.Authors please note: The journal Measurement is receiving an increasing number of papers in the area of machine learning/neural networks and other techniques based on artificial intelligence. These submissions will be desk rejected unless they:prove that the described research advances the state-of-the-art in measurement science and is not just an application of an available tool to known or novel problems, that is used without an appreciation of measurement-related aspects;show that the usage of these tools is put into the correct measurement-related context and not just in the context of machine-learning/neu... network applications;contain enough information about the used tools, data, and results to allow, in principle, anyone to replicate the described results;display the use of specific metrics to strengthen the results of research activities. It must be recalled that Measurement is interested in publishing new methods, techniques, procedures, algorithms, and alike that show how to better measure in nature and in the world. Thus, the capability to describe metrological-related details of the proposed research represents a major difference between papers published by this journal and by other journals publishing papers on similar topics. This major difference must be evident also in papers covering applications of machine learning and soft computing techniques. Failing to adhere to these guidelines will result in a paper desk-reject decision.Authors whose manuscripts focus on the research, development and application of the science, engineering and technology of sensors and sensor systems, are welcome to submit to the journal's open access companion title, Measurement: Sensors .Authors whose manuscripts focus on food and nutrition measurements may also wish to submit to the journal's second open access companion title, Measurement: Food.Authors whose manuscripts focus on energy sources, heat and power generation and all other relevant fields may be interested to submit to the journal's third open access companion title, Measurement: Energy.Authors whose manuscripts focus on all aspects of the foundations, developments, technologies, methodologies, and applications of digital techniques and digitization in measurement, are invited to submit to the journal's fourth open access companion title, Measurement: Digitalization.- ISSN: 0263-2241

Annual Reviews in Control
A journal of IFAC, the International Federation of Automatic ControlThe field of Control is changing very fast now with technology-driven “societal grand challenges” and with the deployment of new digital technologies. Indeed, increasingly both economic developments and societal needs depend upon collections of diverse systems working together to provide needed services, comfort, health, safety, and security. Consequently, there is an increasing demand for methodological and technical approaches which allow multiple, independent, heterogeneous systems to interoperate cooperatively providing broader capabilities than available from individual systems. Such considerations apply in many different domains including transportation, health care, energy and water management, smart cities, defense and security, social services, manufacturing systems, supply chains and more. The design of such systems requires understanding the joint dynamics of computers, software, networks, physical, chemical, biological processes and human-in-the-loop.Th... aim of Annual Reviews in Control is to provide comprehensive and visionary views of the field via the publication of high-impact review articles. For more details on the International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC), visit their home page.- ISSN: 1367-5788

IFAC Journal of Systems and Control
IFAC Journal of Systems & Control publishes significant, previously unpublished, and high-quality research papers containing generalizable, extensible and transferable innovations across all aspects of the field of control and automation. The Journal has considerable interest in multi-, cross-, and trans- disciplinary research from control and systems theory to their application, including articles where the novelty is in the linkages between and across fields. These works need not be novel in a single focus area, but show significant impact and novelty in the combination and extension across multiple areas. They often explore new areas of theory and/or (especially) application at the boundary of systems and control enabling new viewpoints, insight, high/new impact, and/or techniques.A major requirement for publication is for articles to clearly state:• Novelty and Context: The novelty of the article and/or its novel elements relative to a large field of work and/or its disciplines of application. • Impact and Insight: The potential impact and insight created by the work in the relevant fields • Validation: The clear validation of their results in comparison to other results in the field, and/or experimental test results by the authors and/or other works.Papers should clearly express all these aspects in (each/all of) the Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusions sections of the article.Further, the journal requires papers be in a standard format structure of major sections in the order: Abstract – Introduction – Methods – Results – Discussion – Conclusions – References, and no other structure. The journal accepts papers across the entire breadth and depth of both theory and application of control systems and system identification, as defined by IFAC Technical Committees and listed below:• Systems and Signals, Dynamic Systems Modelling, and System Identification • Design Methods in Linear, Nonlinear, Optimal, Robust, Decentralised, and Distributed Control • AI / Machine Learning, Computer Systems, Cognition, and Communication Systems • Mechatronics, Robotics, Human-Machine Systems and Interfaces, and Sensors/Actuators • Cyber-Physical Manufacturing and Human Systems • Power Systems and Distribution, Process Control • Transportation, Aerospace, and Vehicle Systems • Biomedical, Biological, and Ecological Systems • Social Systems, Control Education, Economic and Financial SystemsIn addition, the Journal strongly encourages "vision papers" about IFAC Clusters and Technical Committee (CC/TC) areas, as well as the organization of special issues from IFAC Technical Committee organised symposiums. Finally, the Journal will also invite special issues and reviews in areas of special interest.Authors are strongly encouraged to provide attachments of data files, computer programs, and other links as part of the electronic environment of the papers, but not part of the reviewed work.- ISSN: 2468-6018
