Biomass, Biofuels and BioproductsAlgal Research is an international phycology journal covering all areas of emerging technologies in algae biology, biomass production, cultivation, harvesting, extraction, bioproducts, biorefinery, engineering, and econometrics. Algae is defined to include cyanobacteria, microalgae, macroalgae, and protists and symbionts of interest in biotechnology. The journal publishes original research and reviews for the following scope: algal biology, including but not exclusive to: phylogeny, biodiversity, molecular traits, metabolic regulation, and genetic engineering, algal cultivation, e.g. phototrophic systems, heterotrophic systems, and mixotrophic systems, algal harvesting and extraction systems, biotechnology to convert algal biomass and components into biofuels and bioproducts, e.g., nutraceuticals, pharmaceuticals, animal feed, plastics, etc. algal products and their economic assessment.Papers in the latter topics should include characterization and analysis in support of such processes and technologies, for example: approaches to biorefinery and biomass characterization, sustainability assessments and analyses, such as techno-economic, life cycle, and resource assessments of systems and processes using algae as a main source of biomass.The journal will not consider manuscripts where the core concept is the experimental design (RSM, CCD or other) in the optimization of a process, or the biological activity of algae extracts without full characterization and identification of the compounds responsible for the bioactivity.Review articles, book reviews and commentaries should only be submitted after consultation with the editors.

Annals of Nuclear Energy provides an international medium for the communication of original research, ideas and developments in all areas of the field of nuclear energy science and technology. Its scope embraces nuclear fuel reserves, fuel cycles and cost, materials, processing, system and component technology (fission only), design and optimization, direct conversion of nuclear energy sources, environmental control, reactor physics, heat transfer and fluid dynamics, structural analysis, fuel management, future developments, nuclear fuel and safety, nuclear aerosol, neutron physics, computer technology (both software and hardware), risk assessment, radioactive waste disposal and reactor thermal hydraulics. Papers submitted to Annals need to demonstrate a clear link to nuclear power generation/nuclear engineering. Papers which deal with pure nuclear physics, pure health physics, imaging, or attenuation and shielding properties of concretes and various geological materials are not within the scope of the journal. Also, papers that deal with policy or economics are not within the scope of the journal. Biomass & Bioenergy is an international journal publishing original research papers and short communications, review articles and case studies on biological resources, chemical and biological processes, and biomass products for new renewable sources of energy and materials. The scope of the journal extends to the environmental, management and economic aspects of biomass and bioenergy.Key areas covered by the journal: • Biomass: sources, energy crop production processes, genetic improvements, composition. Please note that research on these biomass subjects must be linked directly to bioenergy generation. • Biological Residues: residues/rests from agricultural production, forestry and plantations (palm, sugar etc), processing industries, and municipal sources (MSW). Papers on the use of biomass residues through innovative processes/technological novelty and/or consideration of feedstock/system sustainability (or unsustainability) are welcomed. However waste treatment processes and pollution control or mitigation which are only tangentially related to bioenergy are not in the scope of the journal, as they are more suited to publications in the environmental arena. Energy is an international, multi-disciplinary journal in energy engineering and research, and a flagship journal in the Energy area. The journal aims to be a leading peer-reviewed platform and an authoritative source of information for analyses, reviews and evaluations related to energy. The journal covers research in mechanical engineering and thermal sciences, with a strong focus on thermal energy and integrated energy systems, energy planning and energy management. The journal also welcomes papers on related topics such as energy conservation, energy efficiency, biomass and bioenergy, renewable energy, energy storage, energy in buildings, and on economic and policy issues, provided such topics are within the context of the broader multi-disciplinary scope of Energy. However, any pure transfer or process level energy research may not be suitable for the scope of this journal, such as combustion, fuels, heat transfer, fluid flow, wind turbine, hydro pump, and energy resources mining etc.- We give priority to thermal energy papers and not papers with a strong focus on combustion, fuels, heat transfer, fluid flow and the like. The papers on specific fossil fuel mining techniques and methods, fuels characterization and fuels chemical treatment are not within the scope of Energy. - We give priority to integrated energy systems, energy planning and energy management and not papers with a strong focus on single technologies such as wind turbines, PV materials, solar thermal coatings, biomass chemical reactions and their related heat and mass transfer process etc. Especially for wind energy, we refer to Wind Energy and Engineering Research - the sister journal of Energy. - We give priority to sustainable energy related to green transition, we request papers based on thermal engineering, particularly fossil or decarbonized fuel-related technologies, and discuss how these technologies fit into the green transformation. Papers on mining, new designs and retrofits of fuel-fired power plants are not in the scope of the Journal.- We give priority to integrated cross-sectoral smart energy systems and not to single-sector systems with a sole focus on the electricity sector. However, electrified heating and cooling systems and heat pumps are in the scope of Energy. For papers on pure electric energy, we give priority to Smart Energy - the sister journal of Energy. - We give priority to thermal management technology for electronic devices, electric batteries, photovoltaics, data centers, and even electric power plants, not a pure heat transfer for cooling. These topics are in the scope of specialized heat transfer and refrigeration journals, and not in the scope of Energy. - We give priority to energy storage systems, especially those that can be applied at energy system level, such as electric battery and thermal battery, not to materials level research or heat exchanger level research.
