Sustainable Energy, Grids and Networks
Sustainable Energy, Grids and Networks (SEGAN) is an international peer-reviewed publication for theoretical and applied research dealing with energy, information grids and power networks, including smart grids from super to micro grid scales. SEGAN welcomes papers describing fundamental advances in mathematical, statistical or computational methods with application to power and energy systems, as well as papers on applications, computation and modeling in the areas of electrical and energy systems with coupled information and communication technologies.SEGAN is an interdisciplinary journal that aims to bring together researchers from academia and industry from across Energy, Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics and Energy Policy/Regulation.SE... publishes original articles and short communications, as well as selected review articles by invitation and/or approval of the Editor-in-Chief. Proposals for review articles and special issues should be submitted to the Editor-in-Chief for consideration.SEGAN particularly welcomes papers on the following topics:Theoretical developments in planning and operation of electrical and energy systems – Definition and application of computational methods for stochastic optimization – Applied optimization and mathematical programmingData analysis and computation for power and energy systems – Data-driven modelling techniques for power and energy systems – Machine learning, statistics and computational intelligence – Big Data analyticsIntegrated operation of information and communication technologies (ICT) in electrical and energy systems – ICT integration in electrical and energy systems for monitoring and control – Modeling of cyber-physical energy and communication systems – Demand-side management and demand response: definition of control schemes and protocols – Advanced metering infrastructuresModel... and analysis of modern and future electrical and energy systems – Integrated electrical and thermal grids – Active distribution networks and virtual power plants – Massive integration of volatile renewable energy resources in smart grids – Integrated control of electrical transmission and distribution networks – Electrical systems security and reliability in systems with large-scale volatile resources – New dynamics and stability issues in power systems – Control and planning of centralized and distributed energy storageNew components for future electrical and energy systems – Coupled AC/DC supergrids – Coupling of energy conversion systems with electrical and energy gridsSustainability assessment of electrical and energy systems – Policy, regulation and economics of modern electrical and thermal networks – Development of the Smart City concept towards the integration of energy, transportation (e.g. electric vehicles) and ICT networks.Out-of-scop... topicsThe following topics are generally outside the main scopes of the journal: Testing of classical, new or hybrid metaheuristic methods or variants and comparisons with other algorithmsPower electronic converter structures, control, simulation and experimental analysisDesign, structure and internal control of virtual synchronous generatorsMaterials and technologiesDesign of integrated energy systemsGeneral research on energy transformation or energy policyHydrogen production and useCarbon capture and storageEmission trading schemesNuclear energyPower qualityTransient stability and related controllersInternet of ThingsWireless sensor networksICT applications not primarily referring to the electrical grid Case study applications without methodological insightsThis journal welcomes contributions that support and advance the UN's sustainable development goals, in particular SDG 7 (Affordable and clean energy) and SDG 11 (Sustainable cities and communities)- ISSN: 2352-4677

Journal of Energy Storage
The Journal of Energy Storage focusses on all aspects of energy storage, in particular systems integration, electric grid integration, modelling and analysis, novel energy storage technologies, sizing and management strategies, business models for operation of storage systems and energy storage developments worldwide. The journal offers a single, peer-reviewed, multi-disciplinary platform for scientists and engineers in academia, research institutions, government agencies and industry. The journal is also of interest to decision makers and technical, economic and policy advisers in these organisations. The Journal of Energy Storage welcomes original research papers, reviews and short communications. Topics include, but are not limited to the following:Science, technology and applications of electrochemical, chemical, mechanical, electrical and thermal energy storageEngineering, control, optimization, numerical and modelling aspects of energy storage systemsDemand and management of intermittency in large scale low-carbon power generation involving renewable energy sources using energy storage systems and other competing flexibility options such as flexible power plants, demand side management in households and industry, combined heat and power, or grid extensionsApplicatio... load profiles and requirements of storage technologies in grid-scale electrical storage, electric vehicle transportation, traction applications, off-grid systems, uninterruptible power supplies, and portable electronic applicationsManageme... and control of large quantities of distributed storage systems as virtual large scale storage systems, including vehicle-to-grid, energy storage integrated with buildings, and multi-purpose and hybrid storage systemsTesting, test procedures, evaluation, lessons learned, life cycle costs, life cycle assessment, and safety of energy storage systemsEconomic, policy and regulatory aspects, markets, market models, and market introduction concepts of energy storage systems. The Journal of Energy Storage considers manuscripts in which energy storage constitutes the central scientific contribution. A general reference to energy storage, its inclusion as a possible future application, or the presence of a storage component in an otherwise unrelated study is insufficient to establish relevance to the journal. The journal does not welcome manuscripts primarily focused on:electrolysers or electrolysis processes, fuel cells, hydrogen production, including water splitting, ammonia production,electroca... and catalytic materials,nanofluids... production, the extraction, processing, or storage of conventional fuels, orenergy harvesting or energy generation.Manuscrip... centered on these topics are considered outside the journal’s scope, even when the authors suggest a potential connection to energy storage. Energy storage must be the principal research subject and must be addressed through a clear and substantive scientific, technological, or system-level contribution. The specific optimization techniques applied although relevant for research replicability will not be considered as novel aspects and highlighting them in the title is not recommended. Use of storage solutions (like PCM) to improve performance of energy harvesting systems fits the scope of the journal given strong focus on the storage solution properties itself. The Journal of Energy Storage does not accept resubmissions of manuscripts that have previously undergone peer review by the journal and received a rejection decision. This applies to revised, retitled, or otherwise modified versions of the rejected manuscript. Resubmission is permitted only when explicitly invited by the Editor-in-Chief.This journal welcomes contributions that support and advance the UN's sustainable development goals, in particular SDG 7 (Affordable and clean energy)- ISSN: 2352-152X
