Brain Behavior and Immunity Integrative

  • ISSN: 2949-8341
Brain, Behavior, and Immunity - Integrative (BBI - Integrative) is an open access journal and a companion title to Brain, Behavior, and Immunity and Brain, Behavior, and Immunity - Health (https://www.sciencedirect.com/journal/brain-behavior-and-immunity-health). All three sister journals are official publications of the Psychoneuroimmunology Research Society (www.pnirs.org).The aims of this journal are to: (1) Explore how the mind and body communicate with one another through the immune system with a focus on Eastern approaches; (2) Promote understanding of how regulation of these physiological systems, with an emphasis on immunity, affects physical and mental health; and (3) Advance understanding of Eastern health practices and medicine.Mind-body connections form the essential basis of Eastern health practices and medicine. BBI-Integrative is dedicated to publishing high-quality research on mind-body investigations dealing with behavioral, neural, endocrine and immune system interactions, with a focus on integrative Asian health practices and medicine. The journal publishes research that defines the effectiveness of Eastern medicine and its physiological underpinnings in both pre-clinical animal models and human studies - regardless of the country of origin or the research center where the research is generated.Eastern approaches to health and wellness are becoming integrated into Western medicine. This culture has a shared lifestyle of behaviors, traditions and psychosocial interactions that is substantially different from that in the Western world. Some, like movement and mindfulness, have now made their way into acceptance in Western medicine. Other approaches, like herbal dietary medicine, acupuncture, moxibustion, jin shin jyutsu, massage and music therapy, are not commonly used in the West with the underlying physiological mechanistic pathways that are responsible for changes following these treatments being poorly understood.Publications in a variety of formats are welcome. These include original research articles, reviews, meta-analyses, case reports, special issues and viewpoints.

They also work with the Editorial Board to identify important areas of research for which proposals should be invited, and to identify and vet the appropriate guest editors for each topic. The invited Guest Editors then create an author invite list, which the Co-Editors in Chief and Editorial Board review and augment to ensure appropriate coverage in topics, perspectives, and geographic and gender diversity. The editorial staff determines the suitability for review of manuscripts submitted by the invited authors for special issues. These manuscripts are then sent for external peer review by the Guest Editor via Editorial Manager. Each submission must be reviewed by no fewer than two independent experts who assess the quality, originality, and novelty of the work.To ensure thorough and fair review, COBEHA Guest Editors are not allowed to handle the review of their own contributions, nor are they privy to the referees' names or affiliations for any submission under consideration where a Guest Editor is a contributor. Guest Editors are required to declare any potential conflicts of interest for any submission, and to inform the journal Editors. The Co-Editors in Chief then determine the appropriate course of action. For additional information about the role and responsibility of Guest Editors, please review the Elsevier Guest Editor Guide.Once the issue has been compiled with all articles accepted the Editors in Chief perform a final evaluation of the articles to ensure that they are of suitable quality and that the Guest Editors have properly employed the peer review process.Discoverability - Articles get high visibility and maximum exposure on an industry-leading platform that reaches a vast global audience.Current Opinion and Research - Current Opinion in Behavioral Sciences builds on Elsevier's reputation for excellence in scientific publishing and long-standing commitment to communicating reproducible biomedical research targeted at improving human health.
