The first edition of Encyclopedia of Genetics, edited by Brenner and Miller, published in 2002 and had four volumes. The second edition, edited by Maloy and Hughes, published a decade later and expanded to seven volumes. Since then, the field of genetics has become deeply embedded in virtually all fields of life sciences, veterinary medicine, and human medicine.
