Communication is an interdisciplinary journal whose primary objective is to fulfil the need for the rapid dissemination and thorough discussion of basic and applied research results. In order to establish frameworks to inter-relate results from the various areas of the field, emphasis will be placed on viewpoints and topics of a transdisciplinary nature. The editorial policy and the technical content of the Journal are the responsibility of the Editors and the Institutional Representatives. The Institutional Representatives assist the Editors in the definition and the control of editorial policy as well as in maintaining connections with scientific associations, international congresses and regional events. Statistics & Probability Letters adopts a novel and highly innovative approach to the publication of research findings in statistics and probability. It features concise articles, rapid publication and broad coverage of the statistics and probability literature.Statistic... & Probability Letters is a refereed journal. Articles will be limited to six journal pages (13 double-space typed pages) including references and figures. Apart from the six-page limitation, originality, quality and clarity will be the criteria for choosing the material to be published in Statistics & Probability Letters. Every attempt will be made to provide the first review of a submitted manuscript within three months of submission.The proliferation of literature and long publication delays have made it difficult for researchers and practitioners to keep up with new developments outside of, or even within, their specialization. The aim of Statistics & Probability Letters is to help to alleviate this problem. Concise communications (letters) allow readers to quickly and easily digest large amounts of material and to stay up-to-date with developments in all areas of statistics and probability.The mainstream of Letters will focus on new statistical methods, theoretical results, and innovative applications of statistics and probability to other scientific disciplines. Key results and central ideas must be presented in a clear and concise manner. These results may be part of a larger study that the author will submit at a later time as a full length paper to SPL or to another journal. Theory and methodology may be published with proofs omitted, or only sketched, but only if sufficient support material is provided so that the findings can be verified. Empirical and computational results that are of significant value will be published. We also plan to publish applications and case studies that demonstrate a novel use of existing techniques or have interesting innovative ideas about data collection, modelling or inference.

The journal focuses on both experimental and theoretical studies on the biology, chemistry, biosynthesis, metabolism, molecular biology, physiology and pharmacology of steroids and other molecules that target or regulate steroid receptors. Manuscripts presenting clinical research related to steroids, steroid drug development, comparative endocrinology of steroid hormones, investigations on the mechanism of steroid action and steroid chemistry are all appropriate for submission for peer review. Papers on subject matter regarded as civil engineering infrastructure, such as pipelines, roads and railways, tunnelling or dams will not be considered. Nor will papers applying structural analysis techniques to objects unrelated to the built environment (such as aircraft design, naval architecture or medical implants).What we encourage and what to avoid?The Editors of Structures would like to encourage the submission of papers that make a significant contribution to structural engineering knowledge, developing new techniques, presenting new applications of existing methods, or offering some other form of new insight.The following types of paper will not be considered:Papers where an analytical method is developed but not validated, or where no new insight is offered into the behaviour being studied. (NB Validation need not necessarily be by means of a laboratory experiment.)Papers where an existing numerical method is applied to a slightly different type of the same problem, but no real new insight into the science is presented.Papers where standard methods, such as finite element analysis or AI, are used to match some experimental data, but no real new insight into the science is presented.Paper with a very narrow focus where research has been ‘salami sliced’ to allow multiple submissions. Instead, authors are encouraged to present a broader analysis of the subject being studied.Papers purely presenting experimental data should ensure that the findings are new, well reported, and based on well-conducted experiments.

A Review JournalSurface Science Reports contains invited review papers on experimental and theoretical studies in the physics, chemistry and pioneering applications of surfaces, interfaces and nanostructures. It covers topics which contribute to a better understanding of basic phenomena occurring on surfaces and interfaces, but also the application of this knowledge to the development of materials, processes and devices. "Surfaces" is defined in this journal to include all interfaces between solids, liquids, polymers, biomaterials, nanostructures, soft matter, gases and/or vacuum. The journal also contains reviews of experimental techniques and methods used to characterize surfaces and surface processes, e.g. those based upon the interactions of photons, electrons and ions with surfaces.
