In addition to reports on mathematical results pertinent to discrete optimization, the journal welcomes submissions on algorithmic developments, and computational experiments. The journal also welcomes clearly-labeled reports on novel real-life applications of discrete optimization that are of broad interest to the scientific community. Papers on applications must provide computational evidence of a successful practical implementation. This is especially important for applications based on heuristics or meta-heuristics. The journal also publishes clearly-labelled surveys, reviews, short notes, and open problems. Manuscripts submitted for possible publication to Discrete Optimization should report on original research or application, should not have been previously published, and should not be under consideration for publication by any other journal.

Such expression can determine whether a loose economic intuition has a coherent, logical meaning. Also, a full formal development of economic ideas can itself suggest new economic concepts and intuitions.The primary objective of the Journal is to provide a forum for work in economic theory which expresses economic ideas using formal mathematical reasoning. For work to add to this primary objective, it is not sufficient that the mathematical reasoning be new and correct. The work must have real economic content. The economic ideas must be interesting and important. These ideas may pertain to any field of economics or any school of economic thought.

Every attempt will be made to provide the first review of a submitted manuscript within three months of submission.The proliferation of literature and long publication delays have made it difficult for researchers and practitioners to keep up with new developments outside of, or even within, their specialization.
