Currents in Pharmacy Teaching and Learning is devoted to dissemination of high quality, peer-reviewed scholarship relevant to all areas of pharmacy education—promoting educational research excellence. The Journal maintains a particular focus in two major areas: pharmacy faculty development in the scholarship of teaching and learning and the scholarship of interprofessional pharmacy education. With diverse editorial board members, authors, and peer reviewers, the Journal engages a variety of stakeholders in pharmacy education: educators, researchers, faculty practitioners, as well as interprofessional colleagues. Widely recognized open-access journal of the International Collaboration of Pharmacy Journal Editors (ICPJE) in comportment with the Granada Statements, Exploratory Research in Clinical and Social Pharmacy (ERCSP) publishes high-quality, peer-reviewed content in health services research specifically as it relates to some aspect of the medication use process. The medication use process includes (but is not limited to) the prescribing, preparation, dispensing, administration, adherence to, evaluation, monitoring, and outcomes associated with legend or with over-the-counter medications, incorporating the concept of clinical pharmacy, which aims to optimize utilization of medicines to achieve person-centered and public health goals. The medication use process includes attitudes, perspectives, knowledge, and behaviors of any prescriber, pharmacist, pharmacy personnel, other health practitioner, patient and caregiver. ERCSP provides a forum for initial exploratory work in clinical and social pharmacy needed to describe phenomena and relationships among people involved in the medication use process to lay the groundwork for the design of interventions as well as future hypothesis-testing, theory-driven research, applicable anywhere, but with special attention devoted to low- and middle-income countries.ScopeEvaluating how initial development considerations of a process or new medication-related service can be sustained over time, sometimes explored using qualitative research methods. The ICPJE refers to ‘pharmacy’ as the medication use process. However, research articles, reviews, and commentaries, can refer to any actor involved, as well as any evaluation (e.g. pharmaceoepidemiological) of the drug products themselves or systems employed, to optimize the use process. Each journal of the ICPJE has an established niche and is optimally suited for certain types of manuscripts.
