Total Environment Engineering is an international, multi-disciplinary companion journal to Science of the Total Environment, for publication of novel, hypothesis-driven and high-impact engineering science research that is directly relevant to the total environment, which interfaces the atmosphere, lithosphere, hydrosphere, biosphere, and anthroposphere. Studies that focus on the interconnection of multiple spheres are given primary consideration.

TEE is intended to appeal to a broad readership which will include those working in all branches of the engineering and environmental sciences. Articles published in the journal must therefore clearly demonstrate how engineering solutions are applicable to solving problems in real world environmental settings. Descriptive, repetitive, incremental or regional-scale studies with limited novelty will not be considered.

Provided that the relevance to solving a real world environmental problem is clear, we welcome contributions on the following subject areas which may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • advanced treatments for water, air and soil, including electrochemical technologies

  • air treatment

  • anaerobic digestion technologies

  • biochar synthesis and use for decontamination

  • control and sequestration of greenhouse gases

  • environmental risk assessment of technologies

  • green technologies

  • life cycle assessment

  • materials for catalytic destruction of contaminants

  • membrane technologies for environmental solutions

  • microplastics/nanoplastics management and removal

  • nanotechnologies

  • removal of contaminants of emerging concern

  • renewable energy technologies

  • sensors

  • treatment and remediation of contaminated land and soil

  • valorization of wastes

  • water and wastewater treatment

  • waste management
