An International Journal devoted to the Physics and Chemistry of Biological PhenomenaBiophysical Chemistry publishes original work and reviews in the areas of chemistry and physics directly impacting biological phenomena. Quantitative analysis of the properties of biological macromolecules, biologically active molecules, macromolecular assemblies and cell components in terms of kinetics, thermodynamics, spatio-temporal organization, NMR and X-ray structural biology, as well as single-molecule detection represent a major focus of the journal. Theoretical and computational treatments of biomacromolecular systems, macromolecular interactions, regulatory control and systems biology are also of interest to the journal.The journal publishes Regular Articles, Reviews, Short Communications (maximum of 4 printed pages), Discussion and Feature Articles. Feature Articles are normally by Editor's invitation only, but interested authors can contact the Editors before submission. Author(s) will be asked to focus on her/his recent research contributions, thereby adding a personal perspective to their field of research. These short reviews will include the authors' photo and a brief bio/CV and will have a page limit of 5 printed pages in print.Manuscripts that fall outside the scopes and interests of the journal are returned to the Authors without in-depth review. Relevant manuscripts are reviewed expeditiously with decisions generally made within 3 weeks from receipt. Short Communications are 6 printed pages maximum, reporting results of unusual timeliness and significance. Letters are short articles (6 printed pages maximum) reporting results of unusual timeliness and significance. Decisions on Short Communications are made within 1-2 weeks from receipt and publication is offered only to manuscripts requiring minor revision. Biosensors & Bioelectronics is the principal international journal devoted to research, design, development and application of biosensors and bioelectronics. It is an interdisciplinary journal serving professionals with an interest in the exploitation of biological materials and designs in novel diagnostic and electronic devices including sensors, DNA chips, electronic noses, lab-on-a-chip and μ-TAS. Biosensors usually yield a digital electronic signal which is proportional to the concentration of a specific analyte or group of analytes. While the signal may in principle be continuous, devices can be configured to yield single measurements to meet specific market requirements. Examples of Biosensors include immunosensors, enzyme-based biosensors, organism- and whole cell-based biosensors. They have been applied to a wide variety of analytical problems including uses in medicine, biomedical research, drug discovery, the environment, food, process industries, security and defence. The design and study of molecular and supramolecular structures with molecular biorecognition and biomimetic properties for use in analytical devices is also included within the scope of the journal. Here the focus is on the complementary intersection between molecular recognition, nanotechnology, molecular imprinting and supramolecular chemistry to improve the analytical performance and robustness of devices.The emerging field of Bioelectronics seeks to exploit biology in conjunction with electronics in a wider context encompassing, for example, biological fuel cells, bionics and biomaterials for information processing, information storage, electronic components and actuators. Catena is an interdisciplinary journal of soil science and geomorphology with a focus on geoecology, landscape ecology, landscape evolution and hydrology. Published by CIRP, The International Academy for Production EngineeringThe CIRP Journal of Manufacturing Science and Technology (CIRP-JMST) publishes fundamental papers on manufacturing processes, production equipment and automation, product design, manufacturing systems and production organisations up to the level of the production networks, including all the related technical, human and economic factors. Preference is given to contributions describing research results whose feasibility has been demonstrated either in a laboratory or in the industrial praxis. CIRP Members and leading experts are equally encouraged to submit case studies and review papers on specific issues in manufacturing science and technology. The review papers need to be authored by the leading experts with well-established expertise in the field.A typical journal article is authored by the researcher and their supervisor. A paper can also be co-authored with another researcher or institution, but the number of authors typically does not exceed 4-5 people who directly contributed to the research. Others who indirectly contributed (e.g., through editing, conducting experiments, or providing funding) can be acknowledged, but should not be listed as authors.The Journal has been established by CIRP, The International Academy for Production Engineering to meet the needs above. In addition the CIRP has appointed an Editorial Board of Fellows of the Academy which forms a team of highly recognised international experts in the field.The intention is to establish a forum for publishing the best, most innovative research in the field and to this end the journal will publish both in-depth versions of the best papers from CIRP conferences, whilst at the same time, welcoming original contributions from authors worldwide.
