The Journal of Algebra is a leading international journal and publishes papers that demonstrate high quality research results in algebra and related computational aspects. Only the very best and most interesting papers are to be considered for publication in the journal. With this in mind, it is important that the contribution offer a substantial result that will have a lasting effect upon the field. The journal also seeks work that presents innovative techniques that offer promising results for future research.The Computational Algebra Section provides an appropriate forum for contributions which make use of computer calculations and to broaden the scope of the Journal.The following papers are particularly welcome in the Computational Algebra section of the Journal of Algebra: Results obtained by computer calculations - to be suitable for publication such results must represent a major advance of mathematics. It is not sufficient to extend previous computations by means of higher computer power. Rather the contribution has to exhibit new methods and mathematical results to be accepted. Classifications of specific algebraic structures (in form of tables, if appropriate), which are not easily obtained and are useful to the algebraic community. Description and outcome of experiments, to put forward new conjectures, to support existing conjectures, or to give counter examples to existing conjectures. Papers emphasizing the constructive aspect of algebra, such as description and analysis of new algorithms (not program listings, nor, in the first instance, discussions of software development issues), improvements and extensions of existing algorithms, description of computational methods which are not algorithms in the strict sense (since, e.g., they need not terminate). Interactions between algebra and computer science, such as automatic structures, word problems and other decision problems in groups and semigroups, preferably, but not necessarily, with an emphasis on practicality, implementations, and performance of the related algorithms. Contributions are welcome from all areas of algebra, including algebraic geometry or algebraic number theory, if the emphasis is on the algebraic aspects.Contribution... describing applications of algebraic results or methods, for example in coding theory, cryptography, or the algebraic theory of differential equations are highly welcome. An important general criterion for the publication of a paper in the Computational Algebra section is its emphasis on the constructive aspects.This journal has an Open Archive. The International Journal of Mechanical Sciences (IJMS) is an international forum for the publication and dissemination of original work which contributes to greater scientific understanding of the main disciplines underpinning the mechanical, civil and material engineering sciences.Original contributions providing insight into the use of analytical, computational (e.g. FEM, BEM, mesh-free methods and others) modelling methods for rigid-body mechanics (e.g. dynamics, vibration, stability), structural mechanics, metal forming, behaviour and application of advanced materials (metals, composite, cellular, smart etc.), impact mechanics, strain localization and other effects of nonlinearity (e.g. large deflections, plasticity, fracture etc.), fluid mechanics (external and internal flows), tribology, thermodynamics and materials processing generally form the core of the journal contents.The International Journal of Mechanical Sciences does not accept for publication material which quite specifically belongs with other established specialist journals. Papers whose concern is primarily with mathematical or computational techniques, developed within a general framework and not aimed at any specific engineering application, are not requested. Similarly, papers whose content is purely descriptive or empirical and which do not make any scientific contribution, will not be considered. Earth-Science Reviews
Covering a much wider field than the usual specialist journals, Earth-Science Reviews publishes review articles dealing with all aspects of the Earth Sciences, and is an important vehicle for allowing readers to see their particular interest related to the Earth Sciences as a whole. Our readership is more diverse than that of specialist journals. The editors strive to ensure that reviews, even those that may otherwise appear in discipline journals, are accessible for all readers. Review articles must integrate and advance existing knowledge and highlight new directions by synthesizing, evaluating and discussing previously published literature; the value of such articles is also increased by authors’ own perspectives and comment. Review articles should be authoritative. They may also constitute a detailed introduction to/overview of a subject in a way that, for example, enables a researcher or graduate student to begin work in a new field. Articles may be extensive, providing comprehensive coverage of a broad or cross-disciplinary subject, or they may be shorter yet provide an in-depth overview of a very specific topic. Authors may also include a small proportion of their own new data and analysis, both to demonstrate what is being done at the forefront of an area and to support their arguments, yet regular research articles will not be considered.Submissio... that aggregate previous literature and do not integrate and build on existing knowledge are unlikely to be accepted. Similarly, meta-analyses that do not include a significant review component in the way described above are also unlikely to be accepted. Bibliometric studies will not be considered. Where it is necessary to include bibliometric data in a review, that part of the article must be included in the supplementary information only. Regular research articles are only included in the occasional special issue, where the collection of papers together performs a review function. Review articles that are in practice regular research papers or case studies and that are not in a special issue will not be peer reviewed but will instead be recommended for discipline journals; a transfer option will enable such papers to be transferred quickly and easily to a discipline journal of the author’s choice. Articles on the biological, ecological, soil and agricultural sciences and on geoengineering should be submitted to journals in those fields. Earth-Science Reviews offers authors the rare opportunity to explore a particular subject without any limitation on the number of words used. We do however encourage authors to adopt a writing style which balances conciseness with the need to do justice to their subject. The Journal of Non-Crystalline Solids publishes review articles, research papers, and Letters to the Editor. The journal publishes articles on amorphous and glassy materials, including inorganic, organic, polymeric, hybrid, and metallic systems. The journal Carbon is an international multidisciplinary forum for communicating scientific advances in the field of carbon-based materials, including low-dimensional carbon-based nanostructures. The journal reports new, relevant and significant findings related to the formation, structure, properties, behaviors, and technological applications of carbons, which are a broad class of ordered or disordered solid phases composed primarily of elemental carbon. These materials can be either synthetic or of natural origin, and include, but are not limited to: carbon black; carbon fibers and filaments; carbon nanotubes; diamond and diamond-like carbon; fullerenes; glassy carbon; graphite; graphene; graphene-oxide; porous carbons; pyrolytic carbon; and other sp2 and non-sp2 hybridized carbon systems. Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment
Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research - section A (NIM-A) publishes papers on design, development and performance of scientific instruments including complex detector systems and large-scale facilities which utilize or study ionizing radiation. This scope includes the development of particle accelerators, particle beam sources, beam transport systems and target arrangements as well as the use of secondary phenomena and their enabling instruments such as neutron sources, synchrotron radiation sources and free electron lasers. It also includes all types of instrumentation for the detection and spectrometry of radiations from high energy processes and nuclear decays, as well as innovative instrumentation for nuclear reactors, nuclear security, nuclear medical diagnoses and therapy, astrophysics, planetary science, and environmental protection. Specialized electronics for these instruments as well as computerization of measurements and control systems in this area also find their place in NIM-A, as do new simulation codes and analysis tools*). Theoretical as well as experimental papers are accepted.*) We receive an increasing number of submissions that are based exclusively on simulated data generated by standard codes such as ANSYS, Geant4, MAFIA, to name a few. Often the codes are used in a black-box manner to simulate relatively simple concepts and geometries without any validation of the results. Such submissions if found to fall short of our thresholds for originality and innovation may be rejected. We face a similar situation related to the use of standard neural networks (deep learning) that are used to analyse all kinds of data (experimental or Monte-Carlo generated). Unless there is a clear motivation and a significant performance increase compared to a conventional analysis, such submissions may be rejected without starting the review process.- ISSN: 0168-9002

Catena is an interdisciplinary journal of soil science and geomorphology with a focus on geoecology, landscape ecology, landscape evolution and hydrology. Original research papers, comments, and reviews linking field, laboratory, and/or modelling results, integrating different geospheres, and discussing soil and landscape processes on different spatial and temporal scales will be considered, provided they are sufficiently novel and of broad interest.Reviews are expected to critically discuss and synthesise findings and approaches on topics falling within the core aims of Catena.
