Spatial Statistics

  • ISSN: 2211-6753
  • 5 Year impact factor: 2.5
  • Impact factor: 2.3
Spatial Statistics publishes articles on the theory and application of spatial and spatio-temporal statistics. It favours manuscripts that present theory generated by new applications, or in which new theory is applied to an important practical case. A purely theoretical study will only rarely be accepted. Pure case studies and algorithms without methodological development are not acceptable for publication. Spatial Statistics concerns the quantitative analysis of spatial and spatio-temporal data, including their statistical dependencies, heterogeneity, accuracy and uncertainties. Methodology for spatial statistics is typically found in probability theory, stochastic modelling and mathematical statistics as well as in information and computer science. Spatial statistics is used in mapping, assessing spatial data quality, sampling design optimisation, modelling of spatial structures, and drawing of valid inference and causality from a limited set of spatio-temporal data. Application fields include: • The physical domains, e.g. environment, climate, agriculture, ecology, geosciences oceanography and remote sensing. • The social/economic domains, e.g. epidemiology, population characteristics, and disease mapping. Spatial Statistics encourages the submission of short communications and case studies in spatial statistics (i.e. manuscripts up to 3000 words presenting novel spatial statistical applications). Spatial Statistics aims to publish reproducible science. Authors are encouraged to submit and publish data, procedures, models and methods that support your research publication. It provides facilities to interlink those with your published articles. Spatial Statistics has an open attitude towards the latest developments in data science, deep learning and geoAI, as long as a substantial statistical component is present.

Spatial and Spatio-temporal Epidemiology

  • ISSN: 1877-5845
  • 5 Year impact factor: 2.7
  • Impact factor: 3.4
Spatial and Spatio-Temporal Epidemiology is a peer-reviewed scientific journal that provides a home for high quality work which straddles the areas of GIS, epidemiology, exposure science, and spatial statistics. The journal focuses on answering epidemiological questions where spatial and spatio-temporal approaches are appropriate. The methods should help to advance our understanding of infectious and non-infectious diseases in humans. The journal will also consider applications where health care provision is the focus. Coverage of veterinary topics will be included, and those with direct human health implications are especially welcome. The journal places special emphasis on spatio-temporal aspects of emerging diseases (e.g. COVID-19, avian flu, SARS), development of spatial statistical and computational methods, and novel applications of geospatial technology (e.g., GPS, GIS) for shedding insights on exposure and disease processes. The journal accepts three different types of submissions: 1. Methods papers that outline new methodology in the areas of GIS, spatial statistics, exposure science, and/or epidemiology; 2. Case Study/Applications papers where recently developed methodology is applied to novel applications with a clear exposure/disease focus; and 3. Short reports where a) they are around 4-8 text pages in length b) they focus on an important novel development and c) the development should be capable of description within the page length. Case Studies progress reports in the form of 'what we have done so far' are not acceptable as Short Reports unless they comply with b) or c) above.

Sustainable Chemistry and Pharmacy

  • ISSN: 2352-5541
  • 5 Year impact factor: 5.6
  • Impact factor: 6
Sustainable Chemistry and Pharmacy publishes research on sustainable chemistry and sustainable pharmacy green chemistry and green pharmacy chemistry and pharmacy within in a bio-circular economy Both experimental and conceptual work addressing related issues are welcome. Contributions from all disciplines including e.g., humanities, social science, political science, jurisprudence, economics, ethics, and others are also welcome if they address issues related to sustainable and green chemistry or sustainable and green pharmacy. Manuscripts are typically addressing topics such as renewable resources new sustainable synthetic approaches cutting edge green and sustainable analytical methods green and sustainable chemical and pharmaceutical manufacturing, distribution, use and application end of life of products recycling and circulation waste and energy flows alternative energy sources social and environmental protection bio-circular economy greener and more sustainable substitution of molecules, materials, products and their related substance flows, as well as processes. For all articles it is important to highlight novelty, and greenness, and/or sustainability of the work presented e.g., by referring to the principles of green chemistry, or sustainability aspects taking into account the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, or the key characteristics of sustainable chemistry or the general principles of sustainability such as subsistence, efficiency and consistence. This has to be addressed in the cover letter and in the manuscript. Manuscripts that only are minor extension of well-established methodologies or concepts are not appropriate for the journal (e.g., articles on green synthesis of nanoparticles, new adsorption materials, routinely synthesis of heterocycles and ordinary analytical method development / application), as these manuscripts often lack sufficient novelty. The journal neither publishes research associated with 'end-of-pipe' or simple remediation issues, if they are not clearly related to greenness or sustainability.

Systematic and Applied Microbiology

  • ISSN: 0723-2020
  • 5 Year impact factor: 3.3
  • Impact factor: 3.4
Systematic and Applied Microbiology deals with various aspects of microbial diversity and systematics of prokaryotes. It focuses on Bacteria and Archaea; eukaryotic microorganisms will only be considered in rare cases. The journal perceives a broad understanding of microbial diversity and encourages the submission of manuscripts from the following branches of microbiology: Systematics: Theoretical and practical issues dealing with classification and taxonomy, i.e. • New descriptions or revisions of prokaryotic taxa, including in particular descriptions of not-yet cultured taxa in the category Candidatus, • innovative methods for the determination of taxonomical and genealogical relationships • evaluation of intra-taxon diversity through multidisciplinary approaches • identification methods. Applied Microbiology: polyphasic studies combining multiple methods yielding in-depth data on the diversity and function of particular clades of Bacteria and Archaea in all aspects of agricultural, food, and industrial microbiology, including water and wastewater treatment. Also these studies must have a focus on prokaryotic systematics. Comparative biochemistry and genomics: studies concerning biochemical/metabolic and genomic diversity of cultured as well as yet-uncultured Bacteria and Archaea. Ecology: polyphasic descriptions of the microbial diversity and community composition of natural and man-made ecosystems; studies quantifying the size, dynamics, and function of prokaryotic populations; innovative research on the interaction of Bacteria and Archaea with each other and their biotic and abiotic environments. The description of candidate taxa is highly encouraged but should be based on high quality metagenomic information, as well as the in situ identification of the target bacterial or archaeal populations.
