On-farm research and integrated precision farming systems are preferred. When determining the suitability of submitted articles for publication, we place particular scrutiny on the degree of novelty and significance of the research, the robustness of methodology, and the extent to which the study adds to existing knowledge in agronomy. Key criteria for experimental studies: Experimental studies must provide sufficient detail to ensure that results can be replicated under similar conditions. Research should allow for the verification of findings in different locations, contexts, or farming systems.Field experiments need to be either multi-locational or multi-year, and typically involving at least THREE years, and should be accompanied by appropriate statistical analysis. This is essential to assess the consistency of results across seasons, locations, and environmental conditions. Two-year studies should be considered exceptionally only if they are multi-locational or truly innovative.Studies should contribute to a deeper understanding of the biological and agronomic processes involved. Research should demonstrate new insights into crop growth, environmental interactions, or agronomic practices.Studies Typically NOT Considered for Publication:Confirma... research: Studies that simply replicate previously established results without offering new insights, processes, or significant contributions to the field of agronomy.Routine agronomy trials: Research focused solely on cultivar trials or conventional agronomy practices without identifying novel biological processes or mechanisms.Modelling studies with no innovation: Studies that merely test a model for its goodness-of-fit to observed data without addressing novel or significant agronomic questions. Artificial Intelligence (AI)-related studies: Studies that focus solely on developing AI tools without presenting practical applications or agronomic implications within the study.Glasshouse or controlled-environme... studies: These are typically not accepted unless they provide exceptionally strong evidence or unique insights that cannot be obtained through field-based research.Single-loca... or short-term field studies: Experiments limited to a single location or with very short durations (e.g., less than three years) that do not provide comprehensive insights into agronomic practices.Review articles are normally written on invitation from the Editor-in-Chief. Authors intending to prepare review papers for the journal are advised to consult the Editor-in-Chief before writing their reviews. Review articles should go beyond merely summarizing the current state of the art. They must provide a critical analysis of existing knowledge, identifying gaps, unresolved questions, and research needs. A high-quality review should synthesize findings, highlight controversies, and offer insights to guide future research directions.

Environmental and Experimental Botany
Aims and Scope of the Journal Environmental and Experimental Botany:Environmental and Experimental Botany (EEB) publishes research papers on the physical, chemical, biological, molecular mechanisms and processes involved in the responses of plants to their environment.In addition to research papers, the journal includes review articles. Submission is in agreement with the Editors-in-Chief.The Journal also publishes special issues which are built by invited guest editors and are related to the main themes of EEB.The areas covered by the Journal include:(1) Responses of plants to heavy metals and pollutants(2) Plant/water interactions (salinity, drought, flooding)(3) Responses of plants to radiations ranging from UV-B to infrared(4) Plant/atmosphere relations (ozone, CO2 , temperature)(5) Global change impacts on plant ecophysiology(6) Biotic interactions involving environmental factors.Each submitted manuscript related to these areas should be preferably based on an explicitly elaborated mechanistic hypothesis. We especially welcome molecular studies of gene function that use gene-edited and/or overexpression/trans... lines to evaluate plant responses. The purely descriptive and following types of manuscripts are not suitable for EEB: field monitoring surveys, pure mathematical modeling without experimentations, pure correlative works, applied papers on agriculture and phytopathology, studies of plant biology, gene expression and molecular works without considering environmental aspects, or transcriptomic / bioinformatic analyses that simply predict gene function. The research should be based on a clear hypothesis and provide new insights on plant responses to the environment, preferably providing evidence of new mechanisms underlying plant stress resistance. Ecological studies are also encouraged if they provide a sound basis of physiological processes involved in the plant response to the environment.

Soil Biology & Biochemistry
AIMS Soil Biology & Biochemistry publishes original, scientifically challenging research articles of international significance that describe and provide insight into biological processes occurring in soil. These include the possible applications of such knowledge to issues of soil and environmental quality - insofar as such studies inform our understanding of the role of soil biology and biochemistry in mediating soil functions, agricultural sustainability and ecosystem services. The ecology and biochemical processes of soil organisms, their effects on the environment and their interactions with plants are major topics. The applications of new molecular, microscopic and analytical techniques to understanding and explaining population and community dynamics is of great interest. The journal also publishes state-of-the-art reviews of contemporary research that present significant and novel hypotheses, as well as comments and arguments about specific and often controversial aspects of life in the soil.SCOPE The scope of Soil Biology & Biochemistry publishes scientific research articles of international significance which describe and explain fundamental biological and biochemical features and processes occurring in soil systems.The emphasis is on original research which substantively advances or directs our understanding of the mechanistic basis of how soils function. Soil and Tillage Research is an ISTRO-affiliated journal that examines the physical, chemical and biological changes in the soil caused by tillage and field traffic. Manuscripts on all aspects of soil science, physics, technology, mechanization and applied engineering for a sustainable balance among productivity, environmental quality and profitability are considered. Science to Sustain the World’s ForestsForest Ecology and Management focuses on scientific articles linking forest ecology with forest management, with potential application of biological and ecological knowledge to the management and conservation of plantations and natural forests.The journal encourages communication between scientists in disparate fields who share a common interest in ecology and forest management, bridging the gap between scientists and forest managers. Journal of Hydrology
Journal of Hydrology publishes original research papers and comprehensive reviews in all the subfields of the hydrological sciences, including water based management and policy issues that impact on economics and society. These comprise, but are not limited to the physical, chemical, biogeochemical, stochastic and systems aspects of surface and groundwater hydrology, hydrometeorology, hydrogeology and hydrogeophysics. Relevant topics incorporating the insights and methodologies of disciplines such as climatology, water resource systems, ecohydrology, geomorphology, soil science, instrumentation and remote sensing, data and information sciences, civil and environmental engineering are within scope. Multi- and inter-disciplinary analyses of hydrological problems are invited, specifically ones that broaden the understanding of hydrologic science through integration with social, economic, or behavioural sciences.
