Description

Quantum scientific computing is a new discipline that studies and utilizes quantum computing capabilities to solve engineering and science problems. The aim of Quantum Computing and Engineering Applications is to publish the original contributions of quantum computing methods and algorithms to solve a wide variety of engineering related problems. The journal welcomes the original contributions in this interdisciplinary and interwoven field that links physics, chemistry, applied mathematics, engineering, materials, and computational science.

Quantum Computing and Engineering Applications is an interdisciplinary platform for research discourse among researchers in engineering and sciences and is pertinent to a broad range of fundamental methodologies and application areas in quantum scientific computing for both near-term and future fault-tolerant quantum computers. Examples of fundamental methodologies are quantum linear system solvers, ordinary and partial differential equation solvers, quantum optimization, eigenvalue problem solvers, signal processing, machine learning, and uncertainty quantification. The enabling computational techniques include quantum state preparation, quantum phase estimation, amplitude amplification, information encoding, quantum feature map, Hamiltonian simulation, Hamiltonian learning, quantum Gibbs sampling, quantum annealing, variational quantum circuit, circuit optimization and control, quantum error mitigation and suppression, quantum error correction, distributed quantum computing, quantum machine learning and artificial intelligence, and others. The application areas include but are not limited to computational fluid dynamics, computational solid mechanics, system dynamics, partial differential equation-constrained optimization, topology optimization, combinatorial optimization, data analytics, signal processing, material simulation, ground-state and excited-state energy calculations, with industry applications of engineering optimization, computational mechanics, materials discovery, drug design, as well as simulation and optimization in manufacturing processes, logistics, transportation, finance, power and energy systems, and others. Computational models and methods for quantum device design, quantum system control, quantum sensing, and quantum networks are also of interest.

The journal publishes full-length research articles, five-page technical notes, and perspective articles. Both research articles and technical notes should contain new technical contributions in methodologies of computational methods or algorithms. Research articles should also demonstrate the applicability of the methods and algorithms in solving some technical problems.
