Polymer gels and networks share a common underlying structure consisting of cross–linked polymer chains; the macromolecular response of this structure is reflected in the macroscopic behaviours of networks and gels. The chemistry and physics of both gels and networks continue to be the subject of considerable basic research. Polymer Gels and Networks provides a venue for publication of research results dealing with the structure and properties of these materials.
In addition Polymer Gels and Networks provides an authoritative international forum for the presentation of all aspects of science and technology involved in the area of polymer gels and networks. These include their design and synthesis, network formation, characterization of physical, chemical and biological properties and the manufacture and design for technological and biomedical applications. Experimental and theoretical works are welcome.
The journal aims to publish refereed original articles at a specialist level, review articles on selected topics, book reviews and a calendar of events.
Topics covered include:
• structure and properties of synthetic gels and networks
• theoretical studies including the sol/gel transition
• applications eg elastomers, controlled release systems, soft materials [contact lenses]
• reversible gels [synthetic and biological]
• "intelligent" gels
• photographic materials
• sensors and actuators
• membrane separation materials
• food systems and pharmaceuticals
