An International Open Access Journal Devoted to the Advancements in Design & Application of Hybrid Materials & Technologies

Hybrid Advances is an international and interdisciplinary scholarly open access journal. It publishes special content, either related to research presented at scientific events or invited contributions to thematic special issues.

Hybrid materials are assembled organic-inorganic materials at the nanometer or molecular level that may be chemically bonded or physically blended. Nanometer to micrometer scales make more homogeneous materials, exhibiting improved characteristics to the initial phases and even novel properties, not be confused with simply combining two new components; these may offer advantageous performances relative to either of the non-hybrid counterparts, and could bridge the gap between ceramics and polymers. On the other hand, Hybrid technologies use a combination of conventional and unconventional technologies (at least two, but of different types) having the goal of optimization - and thus achieving more efficient systems.

The research & review articles in the journal Hybrid Advances will cover the border-area of interests formed by integrating the nine companion journals, which represent cutting-edge topics contributing to a better understanding of intercalated bulk & stratified materials, phenomena at the interface, solid multicomponent materials at nanoscale, self-assembling nanostructures, solid blends & matrix inclusions, external & internal surfaces, homogeneity vs. heterogeneity consequences of functional materials and of their formed phases; also, the journal focuses on developing novel combined technologies necessary to the design, fabrication & employment of the emergent systems & devices.

The journal aims for publishing on the advancements in design & application of hybrid materials & technologies, thus accommodating the following topics:

Design of hybrid and composite materials, including: simulation, modelling and fabrication;
