The Journal editors invite experts to evaluate the most innovative and interdisciplinary advances published in the previous 3-5 years. In addition to describing recent trends, authors will provide their subjective opinion on the topics discussed.
Themed Sections:
Each issue will review up to two of the major themes of biomedical engineering outlined below. In doing so, the Journal will serve as an invaluable resource to help bridge knowledge gaps amongst the researchers, academics, clinicians, professionals, and students with specializations in the various sub-disciplines of this field.
Biomaterials
Biomechanics and mechanobiology
Biomedical imaging
Future of biomedical engineering
Molecular and cellular engineering
Neural engineering
Novel biomedical technologies
Tissue engineering and regenerative medicine
Selection of the topics to be reviewed:
Section editors, who are major authorities in the field, are appointed by the Editor-in-Chief of the journal. They divide their section into a number of topics representing key subfields of the discipline, ensuring that the field is comprehensively covered and that all issues of current importance are emphasized. Section Editors, together with specialist Guest Editors, commission reviews from authorities on each topic that they have selected with the aim to stimulate exchange of ideas amongst experts. Editorial Board members are experts in the various subfields of the discipline, and support the Section Editors in the identification of important topical areas, Guest Editors, and prospective authors.
Editorial Overview:
Section Editors, together with the Guest Editors, will write a short overview at the beginning of the section to introduce the reviews and to draw the reader's attention to any particularly interesting developments.
