Applied Nursing Research publishes original, peer-reviewed articles that advance nursing science through innovative, evidence-based work with clear and direct application to clinical practice, education, and policy. The journal emphasizes research that translates evidence into actionable strategies that improve nursing education, nursing care and patient outcomes across diverse settings.

We invite submissions that address contemporary challenges and opportunities in nursing, spanning the full continuum of care and the breadth of professional nursing roles. The journals scope covers articles that inform educational innovation, practice improvement, workforce development, and policy-relevant nursing research with demonstrable real-world impact.

Applied Nursing Research encompasses a broad range of focus areas, including mental health and resilience, nursing education and workforce development, infectious diseases and emerging health threats, chronic disease, palliative care, health policy, and occupational issues affecting nurses.

A core emphasis of the journal is applied technology and innovation in nursing practice, research and education. Submissions exploring telehealth, artificial intelligence, virtual and augmented reality, wearables, e-learning, and other digital innovations are welcomed when they clearly demonstrate relevance to nursing outcomes and decision-making.

Research that addresses population health needs and health system priorities is particularly encouraged. Submissions from interdisciplinary teams, diverse practice environments, and global perspectives are encouraged. Manuscripts that include practical frameworks, implementation strategies, or scalable solutions for nursing education, practice, and health policy are highly regarded.

Manuscripts are required to explicitly articulate their applied significance to nursing clinical practice, education, or policy. Studies without a clear pathway to application or translation into nursing contexts will not be considered, regardless of methodological rigor.
